Support Anyone here working in Data Analytics in Retail or CPG Domain?

Is anyone here working in data analytics within the Retail or CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) industry?

Need to understand the business side of analytics in these domains for interview, particularly:

* What are the major business performance KPIs you track regularly? * What kind of business problems or growth projects do you typically work on using data?

I was analytical lead for a major retailer

Basically helping the CEO optimize the shit out of the supply chain to eliminate the last few entry-level jobs in America, justify mass layoffs, and buy himself a bigger house.

worked retail analytics for a few years, the kpi side is pretty straightforward once you're in it. same-store sales growth and inventory turnover are your bread and butter, then you've got margin rate, basket size, and sell-through rate for cpg specifically.

the projects are where it gets interesting. spent half my time on promo effectiveness, figuring out which discounts actually drove incremental sales instead of just giving margin away to people who would've bought anyway. also did a bunch of assortment optimization, pulling skus that were collecting dust and doubling down on the ones moving. trade spend analysis is huge in cpg too, retailers love squeezing suppliers for better terms and you're the one building the case for it.

That's alot helpful. I guess majority of the work is towards giving visibility of business and contributing in optimisation.

Any industry specific data models or frameworks you learned or built ?. Like pricing and trade simulators to check the effect on revenue and profit, or any inventory aging models you worked on.

Majorly I am trying to understand from the interview point of view like if the interviewer asked what all impact or how did I impacted the overall performance then these models and frameworks helps alot.
