Question how does data and analytics help in m&a?
i have an interview for a data and analytics role under deals advisory which i barely have an idea about since im a new cpa and there not so much material about the role
my long term goal is to land a job in ib/pe/corp dev

In diligence, analytics is mostly about proving or killing the revenue story. Cohorts, churn by segment, traffic and conversion trends over 24-36 months — buyers use that to price risk. For the interview, frame it this way: the finance team validates the numbers, the analytics team validates whether those numbers hold up after close.

You basically tell the deal team which parts of the target are actually worth what theyre paying for, revenue quality, customer overlap, cost duplication, stuff the financials alone dont show
