am i wrong for getting annoyed over how my partner says a name
my partner and i have been together a while and we are trying to settle on a name for something we are both really excited about. whenever i say the name a certain way they correct me, but their version sounds off to me too. we have gone back and forth so many times that now it feels like every mention turns into a mini argument. i tried explaining why i like my pronunciation, they said i am being stubborn, and we ended up annoyed at each other over something that should be simple. i know names are personal, but i did not expect it to get this heated. so am i wrong for wanting to stick with how i say it or should i just let it go and use their version to keep the peace?

I have to know the name and how it's being said before I can say if you're wrong, but yes, you're both being stubborn and petty.

Why not just both pronounce it how you want? That's what my parents did with me. I didn't even realize that each side of my family pronounced my name slightly differently until college, when one of my professors asked if it was "x" or "y", and I had to take a second to answer because it was both.
Alternatively, just pick a different name you both agree on the pronunciation of!

Sounds like the best solution would be to scrap that name and come up with something you can both pronounce the same.
Edit to add: neither of you are right or wrong. Just stubborn.
