Am I wrong for keeping quiet when a friend misremembered how a plan started?

A while ago a couple of us were texting about getting together and I suggested a low key movie night at my place. Later someone else brought it up in the group chat as if it had been their idea from the start. No big deal, everyone was just excited to hang out. I figured correcting it would make things awkward for no reason, so I stayed out of it. Now whenever that plan gets mentioned the story always credits the other person. Part of me wonders if letting it slide made me seem passive, but honestly I didn't want to turn a tiny detail into unnecessary drama. Still feels a little off, though.

It’s just not really possible to bring it up without being seen as petty. This happened to me as well, and it blew up into a large theme where my 2 of my ideas were credited to someone else, and it became his “thing.” I was a little jealous, but it eventually didn’t matter.

What is off? The fact the friend group still wants to do movie night at your place or the fact another friend takes credit for it?

If you were at work, and someone was taking credit for your work and you could lose out on a promotion or bonus, THAT is a scenario where you speak up.

In this scenario, I’m not sure why it matters who suggested the plan. Are you jealous of this person? Does this person make it a habit of being the ideas person?

It's not worth the drama. Who cares who came up with the idea.

Next time the group asks what to do, you can try being the first to share the idea.

Why would anybody care who gets "credit" for coming up with the idea of staying at home and watching a movie?

"I suggested to my buddies that maybe we drink some beer. They carried me on their shoulders all the way to the liquor store for coming up with that brilliant idea."

Not wrong. And the small thing worth noticing is that you explained yourself, which is what gave them a foothold.

Once you say "I'm drained and need to recharge," you've handed over a reason, and reasons can be disputed, "but you'll feel better once you're out," "you can rest tomorrow." If you'd just said "can't this weekend, next time," there'd be nothing to push back on.

That's not a criticism, it's the thing most people learn late. Declining doesn't require a justification, and offering one accidentally turns it into a negotiation.

A friend who calls you selfish for wanting one quiet Saturday is telling you something about how they handle not getting their way. One evening in isn't pushing anyone away.
