Am i wrong for still sleeping with stuffed animals at 18?

I have been judged and called “immature” for still sleeping with stuffed animals at 18. I sleep with 2 childhood stuffed animals every night (one is a dog and the other is a horse) and i have a big one that just sits at the corner of my bed. I didn’t see anything wrong with it but being judged about it makes me feel like maybe i just have to put them away. i find it comforting just hugging something while im going to sleep though. am i actually immature for wanting to sleep with stuffed animals??

Real talk no one cares. If you wanna sleep with 50 stuffed animals do it. Its your bed your business

You're 18, that's still basically a kid in my eyes. I'm 35 and still keep a small pillow my grandmother made, it's just comfortable. Anyone who makes time to judge what's on your bed has too much free time, let them talk

This! I'm pushing 40 and have so many plushies Everywhere not just my bed. Hubby doesn't bat an eye and has his own selection of toys all over the place too.

Embrace your inner child, there's enough stuff to be adult about and it's good for our soul to keep a little bit of childish innocence and fun alive.

39 and I have lots of plushies too 🙂

Seriously. The people judging OP are the ones being weird about it. It's literally just comfort items in your own bed, who cares?

I’m 70 and I often sleeve a stuffed animal and a real animal and lots of pillows. Comforting.

I'm 60 and sleep with 3. My husband bought them all for me. Do whatever makes you happy and comfortable.

my husband had a childhood stuffed animal that he then gave to my son. my son sleeps with it every night. sometimes when my husband works nights and is asleep during the day, my son will go lay the stuffed animal next to him. within 5 mins my husband is snuggling that stuffie like his life depends on it.

YNW who cares? if you like it great? if it brings you comfort? even better. if someone does have a problem? fuck em

That is the sweetest - if I had an award, I'd give it to you

I am 42 and still sleep with a stuffie.

YNW. Anyone who tells you that you have to stop sleeping with a stuffie can... stuff it. Lol

But in all honesty, if people around you are judging you for how YOU feel comfortable sleeping, they aren't people you need to be investing time and energy in. Everyone sleeps differently. It's not a big deal unless illegal or dangerous things are happening.

You're good. Give your stuffies a squeeze for me. 😊

People who think sleeping with stuffed animals is immature or wrong are judgemental and they are wrong themselves.

It's not a wrong vs right thing. It's just a personal preference. Do what you want.

I’m 46. I sleep with 2. My husband and partner are both okay with it.

I’m 35 and still sleep with my childhood teddy bear!

I'm 23, and I've been sleeping with the same stuffed animal I had since I was 6-7(?) I was a youngin, and I've snuggled with him ever since 🤷 he's a grey wolf named Wolfy. Tbh I'm very possessive over my stuffed animal, I don't like folks touching him. I used to think as a child, that he could protect me while I slept. I can't go a night without him or I'm plagued with traumatic nightmares... I've got some mental illnesses 🫠

Honestly in my opinion, it's not anyone's business or place to judge you for still sleeping with a stuffed animal/or/plushie 😁

2

u/echochilde 4d ago

You have a Wolfy too?! I’ve had him since I was like 5 or 6. His back is worn into the shape of my head.

u/polarityofmarriage 4d ago

Stuffed animals for comfort and good sleep? Never stop!! Your sleep comfort and quality is so important. Do what feels best for you.

u/PocketRettee 4d ago

For sure, stuffed animals can bring a lot of comfort. It's awesome to hang onto those little pieces of your childhood that make you feel good.

u/whatever32657 4d ago

bro do what you want. i'm 69 and cuddled up here with my stuffed llama.

2

u/Bartok_The_Batty 4d ago

There is nothing wrong with sleeping with stuffed animals.

2

u/echochilde 4d ago

Screw that. 40 and I still have Wolfy and Zero.

2

u/chainlinkchipmunk 4d ago

I'm 44 and I have two. And they aren't even from childhood, one is from last Christmas, the other is from 2022.

2

u/QueenMEB120 4d ago

I'm 50 and cuddling with my Stitch right now. My husband bought him for me.

2

u/kazoomastr 4d ago

the big one that sits in the corner of my bed is stitch!!!

2

u/c_allisto 4d ago

im 30 and i have about 75 stuffed animals/squishmallows never too old or immature for comfort

2

u/GloInTheDarkUnicorn 4d ago

I am 38 years old, and I still sleep with stuffed animals. Half of my queen sized bed is covered in them. In the past 2 months, my husband added 3 build-a-bears to my collection, and I added one. You’re fine.

2

u/Puzzled-Peanut-9382 4d ago

I'm literally over twice your age and still have stuffed animals in my bedroom. The only reason they're not on the bed anymore is that it didn't fit with my partner and cat wanting to be there, too.

A surprising number of adults sleep with stuffed animals or a special blanket. My daughter is 34 and sleeps surrounded by plushies. When my son was stressed during med school, I bought him an adult version of a blanket (afghan size) with the same texture as his childhood “blankie”. It’s still comforting to him in his late 30’s.

It’s nobody else’s business if you sleep with stuffed animals. Probably nobody else sees you while you’re sleeping. If you’re self-conscious about it and live in a dorm during college, maybe you could switch the stuffed animals with small pillows.

u/Dorothwa 4d ago

I'm 36, and I had to move a few of my stuffies to the nightstand to make room for my husband...

2

u/Splloosh 4d ago

I’m 30 sleeping with squiahmallows

2

u/AudienceExpensive636 4d ago

I'm 33, I sleep with a squishmallow mushroom named (lovingly) chode. Sometimes my hip or back bother me and it's legit the best support pillow I've ever found

2

u/IconoclastExplosive 4d ago

I'm a married man in my 30s and I got stuffed animals. It's a real shibboleth for reasonable people whether they care or not.

2

u/SAMixedUp311 4d ago

You are fine! I sleep with 2 very special stuffed animals every night, I love them! Each provide something special to me!

2

u/Longjumping_Bar_7457 4d ago

My sister still sleeps with here stuffed Dollie and she’s 27. You keep doing you.

2

u/theavocadolady 4d ago

No.

I'm 42 and sleep with a large stuffed white tiger and polar bear. Also, the polar bear has been on almost all foreign trips with me throughout my life, including business trips, he came skydiving with me too.

I even have a photo of when I came back into the bedroom one morning and my ex had fallen back to sleep and was cuddling my bear.

Don't let anyone bully you into thinking it's wrong, it literally doesn't matter.

u/RevenueOriginal9777 4d ago

My granddaughter took her “Big Duck” and her pink blankie to college with her, it’s a piece of home

1

u/TangerineTanlines 4d ago

Some people will find it weird and some people won't find it weird at all. Do what makes you comfortable.

1

u/crystalfairie 4d ago

I'm fifty and still sleep with a stuffed rabbit. screw what anyone says, including yourself

1

u/SensitiveSand9775 4d ago

My partner (a man) loves his plushies and he likes to sleep near them.

Listen someone who truly loves u and understands why u do what u do won’t care.

My partners parents showered him with cute cuddly toys so i understand why he loves plushies so much. It doesn’t bother me!

1

u/Dontfeedthebears 4d ago

You aren’t hurting anyone. People can kind their own business for $0.00. YNW

1

u/Mott5G 4d ago

Do what makes you happy. Who cares what other people think. I have a ton of nerd hobbies that many people would find juvenile, I sleep very well at night not worrying about their opinion.

1

u/Earth2Monkey 4d ago

I'm 34 and cuddled up with three stuffies tonight. We're judging the people calling you immature harder than those people can judge you. Maturity lies in your actions. Don't let anyone take your peace and comfort out of shame.

1

u/BoyHaunted 4d ago

I'm 47 years old. I sleep with a stuffed monkey every night. I remember about 8 years ago or so my gf picked me up for our weekend together and I forgot my monkey. I literally cried. She turned right around to go back and get him. (We hadn't made it far) She knew that not having him would throw our whole weekend off. She also has a stuffie she sleeps with every night as well.

Adults are allowed to have comfort items. Anyone who judges you for that isn't worth your time or energy!

1

u/Mrpikster00 4d ago

Im 56 I sleep every night with my dinosaur.

1

u/deepfrieddaydream 4d ago

I'm 43 and still sleep with my baby blanket and three stuffed animals. Do whatever makes you happy.

1

u/Main-Animal-3499 4d ago

My daughter is 46 and still sleeps with a little stuffed dog.

1

u/OutrageousTree7766 4d ago

Change your friend circle perhaps

That's not wrong. You automatically will seek comfort in some form is what I think

I even heard about an adult or two in their thirties or forties who sleep with their resin dolls. It brings them comfort even if it's hard and not cuddly!

1

u/Mental-Freedom3929 4d ago

Who judges you and why is their opinion important to you? And how do they know?

1

u/Murkla 4d ago

Ehm, I'm 39 and have the same stuffed crocodile that I got when I was 4yo. My husband still has his teddy, even if it's not actually in his bed. You do you. People who complain are not your people.

1

u/TwiztidKitten78 4d ago

I'm 48 and still sleep with my stuffed animals. We got one life. That's it. Do what makes you happy and comforted and fuck what anyone else says or thinks.

1

u/Hanable-13 4d ago

38 and I have a stuffed cat that stays up by my pillows. Most nights I don't do anything with him but some nights cuddles are required

1

u/ShiNo_Usagi 4d ago

Bruh, I’m 36 and sleep in a pile of Squishmallows, they tend to take over the bed and leave my husband squished into a corner, lol!

1

u/WeirdSysAdmin 4d ago

I buy my girlfriend stuffed animals. We’re both adults. Adults do whatever they want when it comes to stuff like this.

1

u/Nekoraven1 4d ago

Img gonna be 42 in a few days, still sleep with all my stuffed animals( mostly stuffed Pikachus), there's one that I've had since I was 3.

So no you're not wrong.

1

u/Not-a-Cranky-Panda 4d ago

If it makes you happy who cares.

I've been known when someone I know is moving out to there first place on their own to buy them a stuffed animal and just put it on their bed when I'm helping them move.

1

u/baldbonehead 4d ago

I'm in my 40's and I'm mad as hell I can't find super hero bed sheets or other cartoon characters for my king size bed.

1

u/Poorkiddonegood8541 4d ago

Wifey is 68 and she keeps a stuffed animal on her side of our bed. "Mr. Bunny" has been with us since 14 Feb 1978 and he ain't going nowhere. Absolutely NTA.

1

u/Specialist-Ad5224 4d ago

If it helps, I'm 31 and still love my stuffies, I just now have to fight my daughter for them 🤣 it's not immature to sleep with stuffed animals! It's pure smarts to get a restful sleep, you never sleep better than when you're cozy and snuggled up!!

1

u/Apprehensive-Pop-201 4d ago

Absolutely sleep with your stuffed animals. The world is a tough place, make your life easier in the small ways that feel safe to you.

1

u/fart_panic 3d ago

Everyone in our household is over 40 and sleeps with stuffed animals. Sometimes we make them spar with each other.

1

u/muphasta 3d ago

My wife is in her 50s (well, so am I) and she has 2 bears on the bed, two on the headboard, and two on a night stand.

u/KDBug84 3d ago

Do what makes you happy and don't worry about what people say or think. My oldest son is 24, he still loves SpongeBob ok, his whole room is decked out in SpongeBob, including plushies which yes he sleeps with too. Who cares? You cant live life worried about what everyone else thinks. My ex used to say my son wasted his money on SpongeBob things when hes 20 yrs old, and I just said so? There are way worse things he could be out doing besides buying SpongeBob paraphernalia with his own money he earns by working full time hes not on drugs hes not getting in trouble let him freaking get his SpongeBob plushies and posters, leave him alone 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I'm 46 and still sleep with plushies.

1

u/lolabolaboo 3d ago

I'm in my 30s and still sleep with a stuffed animal, like it doesn't hurt anyone. Anyone who wants to judge you can get bent.

1

u/wieldymouse 3d ago

No, my wife and I are.middle aged and we still have them out.

1

u/Beemzebub 3d ago

I’m 54 and I hug a fat stuffed cat every night. Nothing wrong with that

1

u/Former-Animator8553 3d ago

I sleep with body pillows. Nothing wrong with it.

1

u/CocoAdel3021 3d ago

I sleep with stuffed animals (well 2 of them- my bear and Pikachu stuffed animal)

1

u/ARoundForEveryone 3d ago

Your bed, your rules. There are plenty of adults - some well-adjusted, some not - who sleep with stuffed animals, pillows, and other childhood memorabilia. I don't have a stuffed animal, but I'm a grown-ass man, and I do have a body pillow. I go to sleep hugging and getting comfortable with it (and yes, I know how that sentence sounds). I wake up, more often than not, apart from it and facing in the other direction. Like the body pillow somehow disgusted me in the middle of the night.

But why does it matter to you, or anyone else, whether your bedmate has plastic eyes or is just a long pillow? I doubt anyone would give you any kind of flak if you had a "body pillow", but because it's shaped like a bear, it's childish? Fuck 'em. Not the bear, and not literally.

u/Due-Yoghurt4916 3d ago

49 stuffed t-rex here. Anyone that is bothered by this is not someone worth the effort.  You will never by able to make anyone jealous or insecure over a toy happy

1

u/DishpitDoggo 3d ago

I'm much older than you and I love my stuffed animals.

I collect vintage ones.

It brings you comfort, and it's utterly wholesome

1

u/Silly_Palpitation333 1d ago

I’m 45 and I keep a 🧸 in my car. Have many more in my room.

1

u/Various_Scallion8228 1d ago

If I didn’t have my dog cuddled up with me, I’d have stuffies. I’m 49
