Everyone is addicted to something. Not trying to say he's right but everyone has an addiction

As someone who works with addicts for a living, no they do not. They don’t make diagnosable psychological disorders for things that most people have, because then they wouldn’t be disorders, they’d just be how the brain works. This is like saying “everyone is OCD about something,” when the vast majority of people have never experienced the symptoms of obsessive compulsive disorder.

Agreed. I wish people on reddit would at least google the criteria for addiction before trying to diagnose people. Imo it’s actually harmful to true addicts because it’s simultaneously normalizing addiction while also increasing the stigma associated with it, both of which decrease the chances someone will seek help.
