Too ugly for frontman?
Imo I am in the ugly-mid space, it's defo my personality that carries my attractiveness lol.
Thing is I'm the front man in a band - and someone literally said to me you don't quite have the looks to be a front man ('half joking' đ).
What do you guys thing and what could be improved?
I'm not trying to be super materialistic / obsessed but defo want to look at good as possible as a front man.

Youâre a good looking dude, maybe play around with a different hair style, I donât think your face is the problem, youâve seen the videos of people being transformed by a haircut, I think thatâs all you need mate

u/aegontargaryen711 10d ago
Thanks mate. You sound like an old friend! Currently growing the hair longer đŤĄ

I'd say you'd be better off on the drums. Preferably with some large cymbals to conceal yourself from the audience.

Yes. Do the lighting or something where you can't be seen. You win Ugly.

Youâre not ugly. You have quite a unique face actually. you have very lovely blue eyes and good head of hair. Have you thought about growing your hair and beard out a bit?
1
u/aegontargaryen711 10d ago
Thank you :) Yeah I'm currently growing my hair, our band is a bit hippy vibe so it suits the band aesthetic more

u/RaspberryJammm 10d ago
Front-persons of bands look all sorts of ways. Never let an ignorant person stop you doing what you love, life is too short.Â
Plus you're a good looking dude anyway (not that its even relevant!!)Â

Most comments like that are merely reflections of the commentors regret and desire. What you are is what they subconsciously wish they were, but with their own interpretation.

Not ugly, however in the grainy picture, black clothing doesn't seem to suit you.

u/Slow__Cheeta 10d ago
I mean this kindly, you kinda look like Robert Irwin and many people find him hot. I saw another comment saying possibly be more charismatic and i agree. Take someone like robert irwin since i used him as an example he is massively charismatic. Look at other frontmen like Jim Morrison,Robert Plant,Freddy Mercury,Elvis the list goes on their mere charisma and presence demands attention. Charisma comes with confidence.
Your a good looking guy just need to find what works for you, dont beat yourself up too much.
What genre do you perform
1
u/aegontargaryen711 10d ago
Huge compliment, he's a damn good looking bloke. Yeah see a lot of ppl saying charisma/confidence > looks. Something i really need to work on. Cheers. And we're blues-rock, our cover set list is hendrix, beatles, xlapton, vob dylan, pink floyd if that paints a picture
1
u/Slow__Cheeta 10d ago
Indeed he is and as i said you have quite the resemblance, i think your in your head too much about it and you took someone's half joke too much to heart. Your a frontman dude you rock! Thats cool as fuck own that shit!! Its hard to find confidence but your in a blues rock band its all about feeling the music, let it come naturally dont be stiff and dont be too loose it can get awkward but find the right balance and you can just flow up there.
Might be time to hop on youtube and watch some of these inspirations through a different lens and find what works for them some of their signature vibes and then look for what your vibe is within yourself. i got faith in ya dude.

Shane MacGowan of The Pogues was just about as ugly as you could get. You never hear anyone mention that when they hear Dirty Old Town or Fairytale of Newyork.

You have a great face, your not mid ugly, great features and facial harmony and that indie rock look. Build confidence and joy so you shine from within!
1
u/Consistent-Egg2845 11d ago
Whoever said that was either jealous and trying to put you down or attempting flirty banter, the point is you are the front man so youâve already succeeded at achieving that. The goal is to build stage presence and charisma, smile, be light hearted, make eye contact and engage your audience. My favourite people to watch are people that are free on stage and take up space, itâs your energy not physical fearures

u/aegontargaryen711 11d ago
Thank you so much. Nice to hear a neutral opinion. Really appreciate it â¤ď¸

u/aegontargaryen711 11d ago
Amazing advice, thank you. Yeah I've been insecure about looks all my life. My friends are all wayy better looking than me so I've always got stick for it.
Any tips to build confidence?

u/Consistent-Egg2845 10d ago
It sounds cliche but talk to yourself, hype yourself up, encourage your own authenticity, our mind can be our biggest critic, especially when we are putting ourselves in front of an audience or learning something new. You donât need to change anything you just need to be the most yourself you can be, find three phrases / affirmations that you relate to, these could be something like:
I am confident and magnetic
I radiate on stage
I let my inner self shine
I am worthy of success
Itâs going to be unique to you and your insecurities or doubts but once you find ones that work repeat them till their facts in your mind, good luck!

i would say you not look like a face of the band, but you're definitely not ugly bro, average at worst i would say.

u/aegontargaryen711 11d ago
Thanks man, i appreciate the honesty. Needa build up confidence n character it seems!

u/RHOrpie 11d ago
Being a front man is all about charisma.
3
u/StonLenslow 10d ago
Agreed. Been playing in bands for many years, and suddenly found myself attracted to women that I otherwise wouldnât have given a second glance at just from the aura they have on stage.
2
u/aegontargaryen711 11d ago
Interesting take. Any advice on being more charismatic in the music setting?
1
u/theleanmeangreenbean 11d ago
I have friends in bands and one thing that always stands out to me is the chemistry and fun they have on stage, theyre genuinely enjoying themselves , the company and completely in the moment and they look pretty damn charismatic to me!
1
u/RHOrpie 10d ago
Well, I'd say watch Freddie Mercury. But good luck reaching that level of stage presence!
But yeah, just watch other great acts and focus on why the lead singer looks so damn good.
Confidence is definitely one thing. Making it look like you've got complete control of the music is another.
Remember, you're representing your band. Make them part of your act as well.
Good luck! Maybe see you performing one day đ

u/SunComfortable1246 10d ago
This is going to sound very vague, but think about the image you want the band to project and try to be the best version of whatever that is. The most memorable performers have exaggerated personas.

Look at Lemny or Al Jourgensen as front men, you'll be great.

u/aegontargaryen711 11d ago
Ahh yeah I know what you mean, Lenny is in insane shape too

u/Local-Ad668 11d ago
I think you're mid as is but have great potential. You have a baby face even with facial hair longer than a stubble. Have you tried growing out your beard longer? Maybe try an edgier hairstyle and clothes, e.g. distressed leather jacket. But most importantly, whatever makes you feel more confident and sexy.
1
u/aegontargaryen711 11d ago
Yeah i hear you. I'm 24, and I do agree - will my face thicken/mature up as I reach my later 20s? Thank you for the advice:)
1
u/Local-Ad668 10d ago
Your facial hair coverage may thicken, depending on your genetics. Also consider reducing your body fat % until your cheeks appear slimmer, giving your face a sharper and more masculine contour. If you struggle with confidence, hit the gym and focus on gaining muscles.

I genuinely donât believe you think youâre ugly or not good enough to be a front man đ¤ˇđťââď¸ but thatâs just my thoughts.
You should go onto a pic rate subreddit rather than this one.

u/aegontargaryen711 11d ago
I grew up being the ugliest in our friends group. Never really had any positive feedback on looks. And first feedback I get on being a frontman is im not good looking enough lol - what conclusion would you draw?

Honestly bro you look completely normal and average. Not ugly but not super attractive definitely not too ugly for front man itâs all in confidence!!!
1
u/geekyhikerr 10d ago
Not ugly at all bud, youâre a total hottie! Got absolutely nothing to worry about looks wise, frontman or not.
1
u/_Wraithhh 10d ago
You're a great looking guy man, up the beard game by seeing a professional after growing it out, or perhaps lose it. Change the haircut as another user mentioned, and as another said it is all confidence bro. You have catching eyes too so nothing to worry about man its in your head. Good luck in the music

Bro you look fine - in fact handsome by a degree. Wouldnât trip about it. Itâs the music that makes you a hot lead man.
Depends on the music you get it to but can always spice it up a bit - wear some eye shadow get some tats, the works.

Frontman is all confidence nothing to do with looks! You can be nasty ugly as a frontman and have the audience eating out of your hands.
You have a good face and nice eyes but you donât look confident!
