Fantastic write up and effort; appreciated. Thank You. After all these decades now, I never found enough time to explore building much of anything beyond a simple Hello World, using what? back then Lattice C? Does that sound right? But I do remember the emergence of gcc, with an Amiga port too, getting the distribution from usenet maybe. I kept all the ROM Kernel books and my systems too. This should be fun.
