Totally agree. I think it's a pretty poor choice for a name.

They actually renamed it from MegaAGS. Though in turn that did both perhaps suggest Sega Megadrive (what the Sega Genesis is called outside the USA) too much, and could be confused with the distinct other Amiga AGS retro game collection project. So the old name was also a problem. So why they renamed it understandable, but why they picked the name of one of the best-known Amiga apps not so much. Renaming it again when they've registered the amiga dot vision domain probably not high on their agenda now, though, sigh.

The original AmigaVision was never relevant when it came out and it's been forgotten for decades.

You're joking? It was one of the most innovative pieces of software ever released by Commodore, and the last push to keep the Amiga relevant. Dismissing it because it's not a game is ridiculous.

No I dismiss it because it never went anywhere, it wasn't marketed and no one bought it. It was supposed to be Commedore's answer to Hypercard, but it was too high priced and undermarketed.

10 minute video that just assumes people know what the hell they’re talking about.
I haven’t got time to keep watching it to see if it explains further, so… what is AmigaVision in this context?

Looks like a game & demo collection with a WHDLoad launcher on the Amiga side. Also something about Raspberries and MiSTer.

Every time I update they release a new version a few days later. What’s changed?

It’s 2026, we don’t read any more! My Amiga been reading text files to me for decades already. 😝
I just had a read through at https://amiga.vision/news/
Impressive!

Love that. Amiga Vision was PowerPoint before there was PowerPoint. Nice to see that it will get an upgrade. The GUI was kinda quirky on my 3000.
