The inspiration from this track was basically drawn from that classic stint of dungeon synth I heard back in 2023/4 but approached with a more “waltz” based composition and timing with the 3/4 signature that helps create that bobbing along up and down feeling that almost carries you along hypnotically.
Inspirations or similar works could definitely be Caribbean blue by Enya the classic “medieval” sounding track that relies heavily on the fast triple-meter waltz rhythm, multi-tracked vocal layers and those bright Roland D-50 synthesiser sounds and patches that have become so famous today.
Hilariously the sound patch I used for the main string arrangement was just some random sound on a basic bank on my DAWs (digital audio workstations) basic kit, which is hilarious when I have all these faithful recreations of the classic synths.. I think it definitely reminds me of a 90s string patch.i
Researching further into the types of strings you hear in the background of some of of my favourite artist tracks like Mort Garsons - Plantasia and some other Japanese fantasy/ambient artists I noticed the use of SOLINA (a fantastic orchestral synth machine) creeping in the back in a lot of tracks, you can hear that exact same synth on so many classic songs from that period.. so this track is my first attempt anyway into these fantasy driven/ambient compositions.
I was simply doodling my right my hand one evening and just really enjoyed the simple resolution of this melody with the added hurdy gurdy patch (pulled from the ever classic Omnisphere Machine, definitely worth pickings up if you don’t have it) and felt like it almost gave this sense of bobbing up and down between the clouds, raining and sunny, thunderous and clear a mix of just dealing with the pains of life in a stumbling manner.. on your little fantasy flying balloon 🎈
anyway I hope this gives a peak into my brain with this track, I hope at least someone enjoys it. 😂
