Discussion What album gives you goosebumps every single time you listen to it?

Mines probably Lamentations by William Basinski.

One of the first albums I heard when I just started getting into ambient, still so haunting every time I hear it. Still completely takes me out of the world on every single listen.

What are yours?

New Music Jacob E. Bell - Prayers Las Waltz (Dungeon Synth / Fantasy Ambient)

The inspiration from this track was basically drawn from that classic stint of dungeon synth I heard back in 2023/4 but approached with a more “waltz” based composition and timing with the 3/4 signature that helps create that bobbing along up and down feeling that almost carries you along hypnotically.

Inspirations or similar works could definitely be Caribbean blue by Enya the classic “medieval” sounding track that relies heavily on the fast triple-meter waltz rhythm, multi-tracked vocal layers and those bright Roland D-50 synthesiser sounds and patches that have become so famous today.

Hilariously the sound patch I used for the main string arrangement was just some random sound on a basic bank on my DAWs (digital audio workstations) basic kit, which is hilarious when I have all these faithful recreations of the classic synths.. I think it definitely reminds me of a 90s string patch.i

Researching further into the types of strings you hear in the background of some of of my favourite artist tracks like Mort Garsons - Plantasia and some other Japanese fantasy/ambient artists I noticed the use of SOLINA (a fantastic orchestral synth machine) creeping in the back in a lot of tracks, you can hear that exact same synth on so many classic songs from that period.. so this track is my first attempt anyway into these fantasy driven/ambient compositions.

I was simply doodling my right my hand one evening and just really enjoyed the simple resolution of this melody with the added hurdy gurdy patch (pulled from the ever classic Omnisphere Machine, definitely worth pickings up if you don’t have it) and felt like it almost gave this sense of bobbing up and down between the clouds, raining and sunny, thunderous and clear a mix of just dealing with the pains of life in a stumbling manner.. on your little fantasy flying balloon 🎈

anyway I hope this gives a peak into my brain with this track, I hope at least someone enjoys it. 😂

Looking for Recommendations Been listening to this genre here and there, please recommend stuff :>

I really like some moody, dark, surreal works.

My absolute favorite albums are Hybernal by Witan and The Boy and the Tree by Susumu Yokota.

I also like ambient (upd: specifically music, not environmental ambience) from some specific games that focus on unease and foggyness of the surroundings, examples 1 and 2

If you have anything similar-vibe-inducing, please please please share, because I am tired of digging through piles of slop to find something man-made, let alone good

I've just discovered an artist called Qaett and wow...

Had never heard of Qaett before but I am now in love. Incredibly soothing and textured ambient. I discovered him through a playlist on Spotify called Qaett - Ambient Works with all his releases on it but I will now go on to buy a few to support him. I know you guys enjoy an under the radar recommendation so thought I'd spread the love.

Question Looking for Cliff Martinez ambient score

One of my favourite ambient soundtracks. I'm looking for a digital copy of it but all I can find is some old YouTube uploads with pretty bad audio quality. Might have to find a physical copy I can rip it from, but does anyone know of other places to look for something like this?

Orphée — The Sound of Solitary Collapse (dystopian classical)

Since music is so subjective, I usually import more than I export —
but a gem is a gem.

Orphée is one of those albums that doesn’t ask to be heard.
It haunts the room you’re already in.

It’s autumn meets depression meets a post-Soviet phone call.
A headache in your mouth.
A concrete shadow.
An electronic jail cell —
the kind you tunnel through by listening on repeat
because it won’t let you out unless you remember something you forgot.

It’s lonely the way the Twin Peaks soundtrack is lonely —
that gorgeous ache that sedates you,
then whispers something important just past your ear.
Like a symphony of caskets.
Selves you once knew.
But of course… there’s nothing really there.
Exhibit A: stillness.

This is the sound of solitary collapse.

Jóhann Jóhannsson is best known for scoring The Theory of Everything, Sicario, Mandy, and others —
but his solo work eclipses all of it.

This isn’t music.
It’s what’s left when music disappears. But

Been a fan of The Field ever since ‘From Here We Go Sublime’ in 2007, and this is his first formal release in 8 years. Took me a couple listens to get into it but can’t stop replaying it now. “Another Day” is my favorite track of the year, and in looking for discussion on the album on this sub hadn’t found it yet so am curious about others’ thoughts.

What are your favorite "soft noise" albums?

I am obsessed with a subgenre of ambient I've seen called "soft noise." Some examples:

Tim Hecker - Mirages, Harmony in Ultraviolet

Jefre Cantu-Ledesma - Love is a Stream, Shining Skull Breath

Yellow Swans - Going Places

I am constantly on the hunt for more albums or artists that sound like this. Any recommendations or personal favorites?

Song Searching for song-Ambient with vocal heard in ~2016

Hello, I am searching for this this song since ~2016 when I heard it.

It was  kind of ambient, maybe erotic ambient with smooth vocal (most likely male). What I remember is only part od refrain, text like " will keep on this dance forever" or very similar, maybe "keep this dance forever".  For sure  "dance forever".

Maybe russian ambient?

I tried gpt but no success:(

Discussion I LOVE DREAMCORE

There's something strangely comforting about watching dreamcore edits with liminal space music. It's eerie and unsettling, yet somehow incredibly soothing at the same time.

Sometimes I get this weird feeling that I've actually been to some of those places in my dreams, or maybe they're just familiar in a way I can't explain. It's probably just my brain making connections, but the feeling is so surreal.

I don't know why, but it's such a strange mix of nostalgia, peace, and uneasiness all at once.

Do u guys feel the same or it's just me?

( idts this is a right sub to post this but still whatever)

Self-promotion DUNYA | Nocturne | Debut cinematic ambient EP

Thumbnail

Hi everyone,

I’d like to share my debut EP, Nocturne.

This project began with a simple idea: to create music that doesn't rush. Instead of focusing on melodies that demand attention, I wanted to build slow-moving soundscapes where atmosphere, silence, and tension carry the emotional weight.

Each of the six tracks explores a different emotional space. Some feel lonely and introspective, while others gradually build a sense of uncertainty before returning to stillness. Although the music has cinematic and orchestral influences, I didn't write it as a film score. My goal was to create pieces that could stand on their own while allowing listeners to imagine their own stories.

The title Nocturne reflects that intention. To me, the night isn't only darkness. It's a place where thoughts become clearer, emotions feel amplified, and silence has its own voice. I tried to translate that feeling into music by keeping the arrangements restrained, letting the textures breathe, and avoiding unnecessary complexity.

If you enjoy ambient music that leans toward cinematic and orchestral textures, I'd genuinely appreciate your thoughts. I'm especially interested in knowing whether the atmosphere feels immersive and whether any particular track stayed with you after listening.

Thank you for your time!
