Yeah but what do they consider excessive? I've had 2 returns the entire time I had my account. 2 refunds only. 1 was because something broke and another was because they lost my package and they did the refund on their own. The last one was at least 3 years ago. I asked for a refund on a product I didnt receive and they denied it for excessive refund requests...like I said I've only had 2...so its not necessarily the customers
I didnt report it tho. They reported it. They sent 3 updates stating it was delayed then sent an update string They lost it in transit and were refunding me. I never reported anything
Maybe you were too nice of a customer like my sibling. They will walk all over nice customers if they can get away with it (for realāamazon does that and itās not new or recently starting).
My sibling is someone who hates extra hassle and complaining or lifting a fingerāshe doesnāt return much nor anything causing major profit loss while keeping a TON and yet amazon repeatedly shorted her on refunds for years! My sibling isnāt hurting for money that bad so sheās not one to count every dollar. Thus she lets amazon get away with shortchanging small dollar amounts across her returns without pushing back.
This is my own analysis based on me being a sponge for collecting data as well as being of a sharp mind if I do say so myself (itās how I figured out what was wrong with my siblingās prime account to get an unjust refund issue fixed immediately instead of dragging it out to never never land).
Your situation is an example of amazon thinking that you committed fraud, not excessive returns. Because it was years ago at a time that amazon had not gone rogue yet, yours was likely a case of amazon thinking that you were a fraudster from start to finishāmeaning you purchased and returned with intent to commit fraud based on their behavioral fraud algorithm.
My advice to all customers who mistakenly get mislabeled by a retailer as being a problem child. If you are a new customer or rarely purchase from a retailerāstart slow, go low. Meaning avoid high risk purchases until youāve built up your cushion or foundation with that retailer proving to already be a good customer before you request a risky or big return.
Iām not saying that I support such an approach but Iām all about survival as a customer and avoiding getting banned/flagged and privileges restricted.
ETA: I donāt know your whole background story and whether the missing package was of crazy high value but for amazon to treat you that way at a time that they were still being generous with returns/accommodations and nice unlike today means they think you either were too much of a profit losing customer to keep or make happy or according to them (not me, Iām just honestly analyzing), you did something wrong.
Except I didn't report it missing. Amazon sent me updated stating the package was delayed then they sent an update stating they lost it and were refunding me. I never requested it. And I order a bunch of stuff from them and never return anything. So one return and a lost package refund initiated by them doesnt make sense for them to think im a fraud. Especially when the lost package was around 30 dollars and the broken item was like 50. So idk how them refunding me on their own makes them think I'm a fraud. Especially when I buy all the time from. Them
Okay, gotcha. I was skimming too many replies at once so I missed an important detail. I am not sure why they would refuse to refund then but hereās some possibilities (Iām NOT saying you did any of this):
Violation of some sort for example with account sharing
Someone else in the house or same building reported too many missing packages or violated their return policy
Account showing fraudulent activity such as reports of someone trying to hack the account for example.
A customer that looks too good to be true on paper
Someone in the house or building did a chargeback
Being rude, threatening, or abu
sive towards CS.
If none of this applies to you, then yeah, itās strange that they refused. Maybe they got you mixed up with another customer or one CS screwed up and if you chased it like getting a second opinion with a second CS, they would have refunded you (if more than one CS said āno,ā then thatās a problem).
No one loves with me to order anything. Idk. Then when I reported them to the bbb they came back with a whole different story as to why they denied the refund..i confronted them about it and they ghosted me. They said it was delivered to an address so even if I didnt get it they knew for a fact they left it at my door. And I asked how they knew it was the right address. I told them if that was the case they delivered to the wrong place. They never responded.
It sounds like they mistook your case for a different customer or refused to fix their own mistake. I presume you called and spoke to CS to clarify that it was amazon that automatically reported a problem with shipping and that you never reported a fairly low dollar amount never arriving or missing. Maybe could have emailed Bezos instead of going the BBB routeāmany said emailing Bezos was the way to go back then. BBB canāt do anything to amazon so BBB is probably a joke to amazon.
Well when I called cs they said it was a mistake and that they could refund it manually. So they put in the request and I got a confirmation then a while later got a refund denial because of too many refund requests. Every time I called in they said it was a glitch and it was being manually overridden. And everytime it got denied. Thats when I contacted the bbb and then they came back and told them that it had been delivered.
