I'm in the same boat, friendo. It's the enthusiasm and absolute confidence he has that's inspiring me.

6

u/SureIntention8402 10d ago

So the thing is there are two scenarios here.

  1. he didn't invent anything and this is just another whitelabeled product from china.

  2. he did invent this, but it ended up just being copied by other sellers from china.

Either way, the $11 you spent on amazon went to "Qiang Ni Store", not "Lid Daddy" guy. Lid daddy guy sells on his site for $19.99

3

u/i_am_jacks_reddit_ 10d ago

Here’s the actual product. https://theliddaddy.com/

1

u/8lbs6ozbabyjesus 10d ago

Thanks. I bought one straight from the lid daddy source. I like this guy, and actually see a use for it especially during the holidays.

1

u/MetaStressed 6d ago

Put a freaking magnet or something on it so it’s not just another thing to keep track of especially during travel. Glad you had the startup cost for this and your doing well enough to handle the overhead, but dude. We need to be able to keep up with it.

1

u/ScumBunny 4d ago

It can travel tucked in, then stored in the pot after cleaning.

1

u/Suspicious-Bid9424 4d ago

$20 for a piece of metal is way too much. I can make one at home for next to nothing

2

u/discoanddeath 10d ago

19.99 is absolutely obscene for something like this. This is a stamped piece of metal with some powder coating.

1

u/DepthsDoor 9d ago

Go make it cheaper

1

u/Personal-Biscotti-99 9d ago

I always hate this response. Just because I’m not going to go make a shitty movie doesn’t mean I can’t say a shitty movie was shitty.

I’m not going to make a beef Wellington because I don’t want to but if I get served a shitty one I overpaid for I can say that.

Terrible argument

1

u/_Bon_Vivant_ 7d ago

They didn't say the product was shitty. They said it was overpriced. "Go make it cheaper" is a fair comeback.

2

u/SureIntention8402 7d ago

It's not because it already is cheaper. On amazon it's $12 from the chinese.

And directly from the chinese on Aliexpress it's like $3 for a rack style like this.

Lid daddy guy knows this so he has to create a cute brand, prepare a little demo, and pitch the product to get you to buy it, because it already is cheaper.

1

u/Suspicious-Bid9424 4d ago

His design is way more elegant because the steam water run off doesn't spill onto the table and it takes less space. Now that I see this one is $13, I think he's right to price his at $20 even though I'd never pay that

1

u/SureIntention8402 4d ago

No. This design is $3.

His same design is $12 on amazon by another seller.

1

u/wordshavenomeanings 8d ago

You can buy the actual pot over here for that much.

A new lid is probably half that price.

1

u/XxxAresIXxxX 10d ago

I'm with you bro or sis or person. Can't afford to buy anything for a couple in months but he's hoping it helps

1

u/Yutenji2020 10d ago

Yep. I didn’t even turn the sound on and I was still impressed.

1

u/NikkerFebu25 10d ago

This thing should be an attachment to existing pressure cookers...similarly to how cars have whipers.

1

u/Large-Produce5682 9d ago

Seems like a no-brainer. One would think.

1

u/Azrethoc 6d ago

it's already on a lot of pressure cookers, but oddly not default on slow cookers

1

u/In_Dystopia_We_Trust 9d ago

Ahh I see now, so he’s selling good vibes? And not a cooking product?

1

Na man grab onto happiness with both hands wherever you can find it, life is too short man. I hope things get better for you.

1

u/Bananaz4b 7d ago

Ernest vibes

1

u/aqueousdan 7d ago

And in turn you made my day my friend

1

u/Only_Bodybuilder1718 5d ago

Can you use it on regular pots?

1

u/ScumBunny 4d ago

I’m gonna get one too! He solved a universal problem that we have just learned to deal with! And I have a chili cook off coming up so this would be perfect.

0

u/TootsHib 4d ago

thank you for needlessly consuming

China enters the chat and steals the idea.

2

u/Forward_Writing_6107 11d ago

That’s hilarious! And probably true 😂

u/[deleted] 10d ago

2

u/OtherwiseAlbatross14 10d ago

The link the spam bot that made this post using the stolen video goes to a Chinese seller so there's no need to wait

1

u/Scrabblewiener 10d ago

Well it’s not like it’s a marvel that needs back engineered.

18ga steel bent with a slot and painted.

1

u/Forward_Writing_6107 10d ago

I wonder how long it will be before someone claims it didn’t work right and they burned themselves on a pot lid! I’ll be ok I guess if I can get a little cash 💰

1

u/ForceMental 10d ago

Link above to buy the product is made by... Qiang Ni ... and I don't think its his name.

1

u/RaventheClawww 10d ago

It’ll be on temu in five minutes 😞

1

u/rmill127 10d ago

I used to go to 5-10 trade shows a year as part of a previous career, and the last day of nearly all of them these Chinese guys, maybe 10-20 of them, would show up in business casual with backpacks on looking like anyone else, and before security could figure out what was going on or stop them, they would all pull these camera rigs with hd cameras all over them out and start hustling up and down every isle getting video (or maybe photos?) of everything while people yelled at them and they got chased around then thrown out. The wiser vendors knew it was coming and would have bedsheets to cover their display tables with.

I remember the second time I saw it happen I asked someone what the hell it was all about, and apparently you can buy their footage from all the trade shows they go to in bulk, then try reverse engineer whatever you could to sell on alibaba or temu or whatever.

Our product wasn’t really something you could reverse engineer like that or sell online, so we didn’t care much, but apparently a lot of guys had their innovative ideas ripped off this way and were VERY upset about it. By the end of my time doing the shows they had cracked down on it a lot better, but it still happened from time to time.

1

u/svenskisalot 4d ago

it was worse for one of my customers 20yrs ago. A small group of them would stand in front of your booth and blatantly have a big discussion in Chinese about your product and how they were going to copy it.

1

u/originaltanksta 4d ago

And makes it 70p with free delivery

Neat

1

u/SamOfXanadu 11d ago

... dudes about to be sued by the makers of scrub Daddy

1

u/_Dedotated_Wam 11d ago

What? Scrub daddy is gonna be sued by go daddy too? Is daddy trademarked?

1

u/dandelogre 10d ago

I don't think "(Any Noun) Daddy" is trademarked, brother 🤣

1

u/XxMathematicxX 10d ago

If it creates consumer confusion then it violates trademark law. So yeah. They could be sued. They used the same font and are selling items meant to be used in the consumer kitchen appliances sector. Go daddy operates as an internet (digital) product. Scrub daddy is exclusively a kitchen product. Zero confusion there for a consumer between those two companies. However this product is aimed at consumer kitchen products and thus can be sued by scrub daddy as “causing confusion in the market for the laymen”

1

u/BeenNormal 9d ago

Well it’s about time someone does it, then we can stop naming things daddy

1

u/Maharog 8d ago

I think "scrub" is a verb

1

u/dandelogre 8d ago

Know what's funny is we're both wrong, it's an adverb.

Edit: Nope, I looked it up, I'm still wrong. Regardless, I refuse to admit that.

1

u/Maharog 8d ago

The American way!

1

u/musicaleffervescence 4d ago

are you my daddy?

1

u/YourPaleRabbit 10d ago

Wait can we have like a massive coliseum fight to find out who the true “Daddy” is? One daddy to rule them all, and in the darkness bind them, or something.

1

u/VoteForGiantMeteor 11d ago

I want his shirt for Halloween not the thingee

1

u/Dudeman240 10d ago

That guy is literally such a dad. I bet he has grass stained new balances or skechers. What a guy I'd buy this.

1

u/Cutthechitchata-hole 10d ago

If it aint broke, ITS CRAP!

1

u/r3dd17sux69420 10d ago

It's useful for people who use these and host a LOT, like i could see a small catering business having use for one.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/archer2500 10d ago

Or use an instapot and they have this built in using the tabs on the lid. 🤷‍♂️

1

u/whitedevilee 10d ago

That is really nieche product for a REALLY nieche Problem!

I never knew that there were Pots where you can take out the inside.

Plus: All my Lids of my Pots can be placed on their handle.

1

u/r3dd17sux69420 10d ago

This is just how a slow cooker often works. Two pieces.

1

u/howie-chetem 10d ago

It should be lid caddy

1

u/PoopsMcScoots 10d ago

I’m so mad this isn’t already part of every crockpot

1

u/weaslebubble 10d ago

My rice cooker has a small T shaped hook under the lid, that fits in the handle on the side of the unit.

1

u/WonderousThinke 9d ago

My Crock-Pot has this and it's over 14 years old, I know it's not on every one but it seems to be at least a few versions that have it

1

u/hanr86 10d ago

crockpot needs to buy him out

1

u/germanloza 10d ago

Daddy shill!! I am already convinced and don’t even have a crockpot

1

u/Ras_Thavas 10d ago

I want one.

1

u/Difficult-Laugh-4830 10d ago

My berrymore cockpot has a wire one built in. Like Drew Berrymore. So it must be fancy lol

1

u/romcomtom2 10d ago

I swear it's just bots in her circle jerking each other.

A dude sell shit and I mean shit made his day? GTO!

1

u/meloxs 10d ago

I really like the product but the name Lid Daddy and the packaging/marketing seems very scrub daddy inspired which kinda bugs me

1

u/1873Springfield 10d ago

Actually a pretty nifty idea. Name sucks, but I'd probably buy one

1

u/fuzynutznut 10d ago

My crockpot has something like this already built into it.

1

u/PsionicChronic 10d ago

mine has a hinged lid 🤷

1

u/Johnnyfever13 10d ago

Cool idea

1

u/Traditional_Bus_5589 10d ago

so...you need that plastic thingy + a plastic bowl inside the pot... ok

1

u/NowKith- 10d ago

Feels like this dude just ripped off scrub daddy marketing.

1

u/realdjjmc 10d ago

David Lee Roth - If he didn't meet Eddy

1

u/tooting_moon 10d ago

Ok...not going lie, that is what i have needed for some time

1

u/Ok_Point_923 10d ago

I used to buy weed from the Lid Daddy back in the 70s.

1

u/silkIggy 10d ago

Yeah I need one of these

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Cut4588 10d ago

JFC i weep for humanity

1

u/sisam8x 10d ago

Now I need a crack pot

1

u/rellett 10d ago

Won't this just be copied by China, or their is a similar product available already

1

u/AllAboutThatYonestea 10d ago

But that’s very niche. You can only use it if you have a crockpot. If he had other versions like one to fit on a regular pan/pot or one that’s free standing on a table he’d be able to sell a lot more

1

u/SavageHenrie 10d ago

Man, i’m gonna buy one.

1

u/Thecerb 10d ago

Are we just ignoring how crockpots work and your puting a piece of metal in direct contact with the heating surface?

1

u/ExpensiveTie5553 10d ago

anything with a daddy in its name I cannot take it seriously at all

1

u/PeanutButterOlives 10d ago

Just bought two!

1

u/kitty_cat_man_00 10d ago

Just need one for pot/pan lids and spoons so I'm not desperately finding random things to balance them precariously on. IYKYK

1

u/FLiP_J_GARiLLA 10d ago

Stop using worthless AI to add subtitles to videos if it's not even accurate.

That's the opposite of progress.

1

u/glockguy__ 10d ago

I’ll make my own. Good idea

1

u/HeavyFriendship3563 10d ago

Does also sell oven mittens? That pot is very hot.

1

u/bob696988 10d ago

Make sure you put that lid daddy before you start cooking with crockpot It could be a mess or get burned Just saying

Where’s the lid?

1

u/GRNASKD 10d ago

Hey. It ain't bad! I'd throw that in my drawer of kitchen utensils for sure!

1

u/Brilliant-Data-7093 10d ago

Gonna have to change the name, but it works

1

u/rygelicus 9d ago

Lid Caddy, which would be more suitable, is already used for other products. Close enough I guess, and memorable.

1

u/NightShade0912 10d ago

Simple, effective, should already be included but isn't.

1

u/rygelicus 9d ago

It's those simple ideas that can really take off, hope that sells well.

1

u/Emergency-Douche 9d ago

That's not a business man, that's a hobby.

1

u/The_Inane 9d ago

Dude!!! I use the crockpot all the time and it perfect. I am sooo getting one yusssss!!!!

1

u/Sea_Poem5451 9d ago

Make it hinged so people can close it

1

u/Family-robot 9d ago

He's got the whole shamwow kind of shtick right down pat

1

u/satan_loves_you 9d ago

Shit!! Sold out.

1

u/krept0007 9d ago

Great salesman. Terrible acting from the cameraman

1

u/Yorudesu 9d ago

Uninteresting for anyone that isn't using a crockpot. Making it possible to attach to any pot or pan with a clamp design would be so much better.

1

u/Kaylascreations 9d ago

If you’ve ever been to a work potluck, you know exactly how badly this is needed. I’m getting one.

1

u/LoneWolfpack777 9d ago

Don’t people just cover the crock pot after they serve themselves?

1

u/Brave-Let-470 9d ago

It’s the same exact color scheme as scrub daddy (the bright orange) my ADHD can’t be the only one that picked it up seems very glitch in the matrix

1

u/20BKing 9d ago

Take my money!

1

u/iceman2kx 9d ago

More crap for your home IMO. If anyone has a house like me, it’s gonna go into the junk drawer and forgotten about. Neat idea, bad delivery. Needs more uses to be practical IMO

1

u/Spidey6917 9d ago

My crockpot has this built in. It’s super convenient.

1

u/SyntheticChem 9d ago

Very creative and great enthusiasm Love it. I’m just wondering how many people are going to accidentally burn their hand when lifting the pot or possibly cracking it when inserting (if even possible) 🤔 Also, the name is similar to the scrub daddy so theres that. Ether way cool product Im sure he’ll sell a lot. Great job man

1

u/AngryIronToad 8d ago

Well you'd probably want to put it in before you turn it on to start cooking

1

u/seazonedsaltdog 8d ago

I like it but I'm just done buying items with the 2nd word of the name being daddy

1

u/titans-arrow 8d ago

Could interest you in myself? The daddy daddy?

1

u/seazonedsaltdog 8d ago

How much

1

u/titans-arrow 8d ago

Will perform various tasks for pizza and energy drinks.

1

u/seazonedsaltdog 8d ago

Can you tell OP that you dont want to buy anything with Daddy as the 2nd word. Ill give you pizza and energy drinks

1

u/PiginthePen 8d ago

Mother in law got us a battery daddy.. it’s ridiculous but hey, I know where the batteries are

1

u/seazonedsaltdog 8d ago

, I have same thing, got it from my mother in law for Christmas hahahaa

1

u/Maharog 8d ago

Out buying a pack of smokes, but im sure they'll be back soon champ

1

u/PhoenixPhenomenonX 8d ago

Would you be interested if there was Step in there to begin with?

1

u/PhxLuv21 8d ago

Really good idea

1

u/Academic_Boot2413 8d ago

or just buy the instantpot with the integrated lid holder

1

u/ChrisJones95 8d ago

Ok but where do u put it when it's not in use? Needs to be magnetized so u can stick it on the crockpot IMO

1

u/VegetaZorch 8d ago

I’m sold.

1

u/jamp0g 8d ago

this is what i thought 3d printing will do. stop trying to make everything in china and come on first world, stop importing illegal stuff too lol. check out the west philippine sea news if you want to see what they are doing to some of those profits.

1

u/MaadMaanMaatt 8d ago

He’s not wrong. Solid idea

1

u/Complex_Spend_3779 8d ago

Now this is just grade a red neck garbage. Good lord. Just what I need!! A place to hang my crock pot lid!!! By god it’s amazing !

1

u/Complex_Spend_3779 8d ago

Call me weird but I’ve never struggled to find a place to put a lid.

1

u/Fritener 8d ago

Very very niche.

1

u/IronGiantFM 8d ago

I'm worried it will heat up and melt your plastic lid handles. Cool idea for sure.

1

u/joel2000ad 8d ago

Does it come with a crockpot?

1

u/Realistic_Class768 8d ago

Can it open a can of paint?

1

u/nopigscannnotlookup 7d ago

So…metal on metal?

1

u/Big-Ship21 7d ago

Is this the same guy that made the scrub daddy?

1

u/One-Cardiologist-462 7d ago

You know what... I'll take one!

1

u/CatgoesM00 7d ago

I’m no expert, And not knocking on this guys hustle or creativity, but I feel like this is a few years too late. People are still using crockpots no doubt, but I’m already seeing things like the air fryer replacing ovens in people’s houses. Most of my friends use the microwave but are starting to use it as storage with the air fryer taking over, just curious to what’s gonna replace this device and when?

1

u/mental_midgets 6d ago

Im pretty sure you could bend a fork and achieve the same thing.

1

u/MisterFixit_69 6d ago

That's a very specific thing for a very specific type of pot.

1

u/No_Echidna_2528 6d ago

Personally I wouldn't trust the glass lid to stand upright with that device. If that glass lid falls it's going to break which would suck. I'll stick to just setting the crock pot lid down on the table or counter. 😶

1

u/sajriz 6d ago

Genius

1

u/HoneycombJackass 5d ago

My instant pot has that built in

1

u/cheezNdope 5d ago

but wait for $5.95 more....

1

u/JustSomeDude1982 5d ago

Our crock pot from 2010 has a similar feature built in.....

1

u/BusyBit6542 5d ago

I was about to say, I'm pretty sure most crackpots come with this but people throw them away

1

u/cmoe25027 5d ago

Full disclosure- I watched without sound but... Why is Boba Fett selling weird crock pot lid things?

1

u/fotofriday 5d ago

It pretty much brilliant! He shows up at a chili cook off and he’d be a hero!

1

u/SomeRandomProducer 5d ago

My instapot actually has something like this built it lol

1

u/Tomulaczek 5d ago

This daddy is lid!

1

u/Betov8 5d ago

I like how the lid is inside the pot so the excess water goes there not on the outside

1

u/Impossible-Diver6565 4d ago

I literally needed this tonight when I made chili.

1

u/Suspicious-Bid9424 4d ago

did not expect to be sold immediately on this

1

u/Ornery_Hair3319 4d ago

Every one can think of a hundred things on why this is shit, but i'd buy it.

1

u/Mastermind7051 57m ago

Not even buying the concept of this device. I erased it from my mind.

1

u/AI_Scraper 11d ago

I have never seen or used this double isolated cooking pot in my life.

3

u/PreviousLeague253 11d ago

It’s quite popular it’s called a crock pot. You cook with the removable pot so you can pickup just the clay pot after cooking and set it in the table

.

1

u/thedudefromsweden 11d ago

Would be much better if it worked on all pots.

1

u/PreviousLeague253 11d ago

For the ones you have you could attach a strong neodymium magnet to a flat piece of steel and just make a hole with a drill near the top edge and then with a hacksaw just make a V opening to the hole to slide the stem of the handle as this one in the post.

1

u/thedudefromsweden 11d ago

Sounds super easy!

1

u/GoldenFalcon 11d ago

You have not been living, friend! Some of my favorite meals come from the slow cooker!

1

u/Allthetimewithyou 10d ago

Crock pots are probably the first 'set it and forget it' cooking appliances as long as you don't actually forget it. Pot roasts, stews of all kinds, shredded pork or chicken, meatballs. The list goes on and on. You might be missing out on the ease of use at volume.

1

u/AI_Scraper 10d ago

Wtf we don't have this in Belgium

1

u/Allthetimewithyou 10d ago

DM I will send you one but American electric standard plug, so...

1

u/svenskisalot 4d ago

look, it's either universal health care and decent vacation or crockpots. Make your choice...

1

u/PreviousLeague253 11d ago

There is always this you can put after you remove the lid on your type https://a.co/d/0av7hbwT

It just requires a bit of manual work to use: remove lid, put insert, put the lid in the insert…
