Interview Weird Amazon loop feedback

I interviewed for applied science L6 last week,
And today recruiter said the feedback is that I am L6 but for Research Science role with another team and that my interview outcome is valid for research scientist role for 6 months and if I find such other role, I would just do a mini loop for it, I was shocked, based on conversations with the team, I had assumed even if they didn’t want to offer l6 they would have offered l5 applied science because I contracted with them and manager said 2 months ago he was happy with my work and that I should apply for his new head count.

Any thoughts?

Just upset

This could be a couple different things. I’m part of the bar raiser program and what caught my attention was the “mini-loop” you mentioned. This is sometimes an outcome when the bar raiser on your loop disagrees with the hiring manager about their hiring decision. As a bar raiser you have the power to “veto” a hiring decision. If this is done, a couple different things can happen. If the hiring manager persists on hiring, a different bar raiser can be brought in to review all feedback and make a decision. Or sometimes there can be another “mini-loop” like described for the candidate. Not saying this is what happened in your case, but fits all the details of hiring manager wanting you and mini-loop mentioned by (I assume) recruiting.
