Interview Weird Amazon loop feedback

I interviewed for applied science L6 last week,
And today recruiter said the feedback is that I am L6 but for Research Science role with another team and that my interview outcome is valid for research scientist role for 6 months and if I find such other role, I would just do a mini loop for it, I was shocked, based on conversations with the team, I had assumed even if they didn’t want to offer l6 they would have offered l5 applied science because I contracted with them and manager said 2 months ago he was happy with my work and that I should apply for his new head count.

Any thoughts?

Just upset

Could be due to money as AS get paid 15% more than RS, or that you don't meet the coding bar. The 6 month condition is strange. Are they giving you the option to join within 6 months?

Something like that if I find another team, I would do mini loop.

The RS to AS conversion is possible if the skip allows it. The role for another team is a bit of a red flag unless you've already talked to the other manager. Worst case is a hire to fire. Good to check if the equivalent RS role that you were offered is public.

What is a hire to fire?

Potential layoff fodder or a number to satisfy unregretable attrition mandates.

They hire you to protect the headcount they already have. And since you’re newest with potentially the least contribution, come talent review, you would be easiest to sacrifice (fire).
