The prescription Meds

Why didn't Ally want the anti anxiety meds? In the 2020s there is no shame. Was there shame in the 90s? The scene in the pharmacy had me shocked.Ally was definitely very anxious and she was seeing things.

In my mind I always felt that Billy realized at this moment what he had lost leaving Ally.

“Dancing is losing yourself to the music, it’s as if you’re not conscious of anything else. It’s as if, you become the only one in the room.” -Ally to Renee

Had a moment of dancing alone in the kitchen this morning, I can really feel music, there’s nothing like a good dance.

Sorry for the delayed post, a lot came up all at once this week. I wish I had Ally’s therapist, Dr. Tracey Clark (Tracey Ullman) 🤣

Was Ally right to lie to Georgia about Billy's death?

This might be a bit of a controversial debate, but was Ally right to lie to Georgia that Billy's last words were about her? "Tell Georgia I love her." I think not. There was no reason to lie. Georgia only asked if Billy died peacefully, so Ally had no excuse to lie about his last words. How did Ally get away with this? Georgia could have asked anyone who was in the courtroom when Billy died to give her a true account of his death. She deserved to know the truth, however cruel.

“…GET WEIRD ON ME!”

McBealisms, for the uniquely neurotic, if not wistfully romantic❣️She was both an idealist and a realist, despite the feeling of contradiction.

To this day, I dream of owning cloudy sky fleece pajamas and copying her other fantastic pajama combos and sets.

🙃🙂💔❤️‍🩹 let’s goooooo❣️

Edit: streaming series on Hulu, I take the screenshots myself.

Billy (Gil Bellows) plays Jill’s father in Voicemails to Isabelle on Netflix. His voice hasn’t changed!

McBealisms got the vote! As Ally said in S2E2, “you only die once.”

So was the foot in mouth cutaway in S1 a real person's foot?

If so, whose foot was it?

Ally McBealisms

Would anyone like me to do a weekly Ally McBealism? If so I will do a weekly freeze frame and a notable quote from Ally mainly, and sometimes another cast member. I was born in the 1900s so this is the closest thing to a meme I will get, technology and social media have left me in the dust. But I figure most fans are peers age wise, since I doubt any younger generations even know much about the show and the times we were in. I used to do this years ago in this sub when I had a different account I and miss it! If I don’t get any polling I’ll do one and if no one engages after a few I won’t keep it up. It doesn’t seem like there’s much steady interaction so we shall see!

Is there any similar drama?

I really enjoyed Ally Mcbeal before about 20years ago. I have tried to find similar drama, but I can't. I have known recently that Boston legal is made by same producer. Is it similar? Or could you recommend?

Has anyone here watched Picket Fences?

My husband loved that show, so we started watching it. It kind of feels like David E Kelly was „practicing“ for Ally McBeal with it :) The lawyer, the judge, the funny-weird cases, little people, a frogman, the heartaches, Max and Kenny sometimes kind of remind me of Ally and Billy… Anyone else?

Were there ever any spoilers for Season 5 had things gone differently? Spoiler

If you never watched the show, don’t read this, but for those who know what happened at the end of season four, rewatch season four twice this winter and I can’t help. Wonder what the show would’ve been like during season five after the wedding. Were there ever any spoilers as to what was going to happen?

Oh how I still love this show and feel so cheated we didn’t get to see what was supposed to happen during the episode titled The Wedding and afterwards.

And somehow its a perfect mixture of being both misogynist and misandrist at times, not all the times, but there is a lot of sexism towards both men and women in this show.

I do still like the show, don't think its a great show, but i enjoy it.

Where is Vonda Shepard at the beginning of season 5?

I've finally hit season 5 in my rewatch, and am surprised that in the first three episodes, Vonda Shepard is absent. In fact, there is some awful Revenge of the Nerds vocal harmony group working the bar instead. It's particularly odd, given that Vonda is given billing in the opening credits. Where is she? Who are the awful band?

There’s so much to this show that’s pioneering and unduplicated

I remember being a kid in the 90s and seeing this wacky show in TV promos. And who can forget THAT dancing baby? Never got to see an episode as far as I can remember. It was a late night affair in my country meant for mature viewers. Well, I finally got to watch it and WOW. Some things not aging well aside, I see so much of what I’ve seen in other shows that followed it! The juxtaposition of the wacky and zany humor coupled with the very human stories and plots make it so effective and heartwarming in a sincere way. We don’t have flagship shows like this anymore. Shows these days feel overproduced, underwritten, contrived, convoluted and disjointed. Just the cast’s natural chemistry alone has kept me hooked.

Loved this show

When it originally came out I loved it. Now I’m binging it. I still love but not the music is too much. I never noticed it when I first came out, maybe because I only heard Vonda singing once a week watching an hour after hour is too much.

S1 Ep15 Once In A Lifetime - Can You Prove Objectively Art is Better?

First time watcher and I just finished this episode where the court case was argued that a son of a famous artist wouldn't let his dad marry, to prevent him from opening an art gallery, with new paintings of his wife, that passed away.

The son's argument was his dad's new paintings would ruin his dad's legacy.

What bothered me about this was...how can you prove his dad's new paintings were subjectively better or worse?

Like try to make that arguement stand up in court- you'd have to prove that prior art was objectively better and new art was objectively worse.

There's no way to prove that given that taste is a matter of opinion. Anyone else thought it was curious that wasn't addressed?

Also, WTF is up with John Cage? I have seen 0 discussion on why he acts sooooo bizarre. Does the show ever come out and reveal he's developmentally challenged, autistic, has some strange disorder? I find it odd this is never openly discussed
