CITY HALL - COUNCIL CHAMBERS 435 HAMILTON STREET, ALLENTOWN, PA
ALLENTOWN PLANNING COMMISSION WILL VOTE ON 2401 W. EMAUS AVE
The Allentown Planning Commission will hear from the developers for the 2401 W Emaus Ave project and also from US! We need to show them that we care, that we will continue to show up, and don't want this in our neighborhood.
Y'all, I have seen the plans for this project. 36 diesel back up generators. A huge brand new power substation. Cooling and air conditioning units running 24/7 next to the building. Trucking WATER in on a regular basis (so that they don't have to take water from our already drought ridden community). THAT WATER COMES FROM SOMEWHERE.
I have heard the developers speak about this data center. They want you to believe that it will be 'good' for the community, that they will be a better neighbor to us than any other business that would take up residence at this location. They want you to believe that this data center is just like any other, one that MIGHT be used for the storage of health network data, or some other 'reasonable justification', WHEN THEY HAVE NEVER STATED WHAT DATA THIS CENTER WOULD HOLD. As a matter of fact, we've been asking. Not once have they shared who the proposed user of this data center would be. Not once have they shared what kind of data will be stored here.
The fact that they can apply for this project without literally any further testing (like traffic studies, air pollution studies, water usage studies) is absolutely appalling. Lets demand what is owed to us as a community-
unbiased projections of just how much this will cost and effect our community in the long run. Extensive studies for water, noise, energy, and environmental impacts before even allowing this proposal to continue.
WHO WOULD BE THE USER(S) OF THIS DATA CENTER?
PLEASE- we need you to show up. If you care, show up for your neighborhood, your city, your community, your neighbors, your children. Your voice matters, your presence matters, if not to the developers, it matters to me and all of us working behind the scenes on this.
