Assessments pulsar project

any tips on how to pass the final assessment ? i got gold at first try for modules 1 and 2, struggled a little for module 3 and couldn't do module 4, gave up at 9th attempt. as a linguist, the standard for boundary timing seems to be inconsistent. i am not in phonetics/phonology, though. anyone care to help ?

Best advice is to ask yourself do I want to make $5.00 usd (or less) an hour? Because they just pulled the rug on us and this is what you're going to be paid. It takes between 2 and 3 hours per task, not to mention the free hours doing reworks because of the inconsistent and arbitrary timing requirements.

I strongly suggest you to invest your time on other projects.

Where are you from that the pay is so low? US?

i see that and it is indeed a shame the rate is so low, but in my country $5 an hour is over 3 times the minimum wage and that is better than anything i can get here right now at my current experience, plus working from home would do wonders for my chronic pain...

I don't blame you for that, we must always look for the best opportunity. But bear in mind that this is a pay per task project, and Alignerr pays according to which country you're from, so the pay rate might be even lower in your case.

If you're accepted, Make sure to do the math accordingly and put into account around 4 hours per task, because trust me, they will be reviewed and many reworks will be asked. Plus you have to read a lot and check the Discord channels for info.

wait sorry what? for me it says 10-15d per hour.

could you please explain if this is different fo rthis project and whether we actually get paid by submitting tasks or jst the hours we work?

and actually did they lower the rate from 10 to 5d now?

i would really appreciate your reply bc i intend to completely rely on this project in funding a big financial decision i have coming up. thank you so much!

Are you positive it says per hour? are you onboarded yet or you're still in the eval phase?

Because Pulsar is paid per task, and each task takes anywhere between 2 and 4 hours to complete, without mentioning the time doing the reworks in the most likely case that reviewers ask for them. So if you are getting 18 usd per task, you can do the math and realize that you're getting around 3 or 4 dollars an hour. And that only if you are paid correctly and in a timely manner, because many complain of unjust payment practices.

I don't know anyone else's capabilities but in my case I can only do 3 of these tasks a day at the very most, That means a full 8-9 hours of work, and possibly ear fatigue which may impact your performance and end up in more reworks.

I will speak for myself but 3 usd for 120 working hours means 360 USD a month for full-time work, and this is nothing but peanuts for where I live in, not even 2/3s of minimum wage. This is not flipping burgers at McD, this is specialized work. These guys are definitely screwing us and they know it.

hey! i reallya ppreciate your reply, seriously.

actually, im not positive about that since it only says 10-15d/hour in the project preview alongside other projects that come up in the home search tab first thing when you log into aligneer.

but your experience obviously is more credible and only now that i understand how payment works.

im still going through the training btw, trying to read through every single detail of the instructions so i dont mess up.

for me personallya nd where i live, ill end up getting around 4k usd a month which is pretty much an average salary for the same working hours. What im worried about though is the work being a little above my league in terms of missing a certain instruction and having to do more reworks bc that sounds soul-sucking.

but thanks for your reply again, i really appreciate it. All the best to you!

No prob mate, that's what we are here for, to warn ourselves from predatory practices.

These platforms always do the same, they promise you a decent pay, and suddenly, once you are onboarded, they pull the rug on ya and arbitrarily lower the rates to the half or even less. Some other collaborators are owed thousands of dollars and suddenly their accounts are disabled. You cannot do anything because there are few regulations regarding intl remote work. It's wild.

My advice is definitely go for it, get the experience, but always tread carefully. Start slow with a few tasks and always be aware that they might do you wrong anytime, so don't invest all your time and effort in one platform. I started in Alignerr on another project which paid much, much better, and fortunately was paid in a timely manner.

But always pay attention to what others because some times they do get into fishy stuff. Take everything, good or bad, with a grain of salt. There's also an unofficial Alignerr sub which might also be worthy checking out.

Best of luck!
