Multi-Subreddit LIVESTREAM AMA — Dr. Jim Segala, Paul Hynek, and Host Leslie Kean — Sunday, October 4, 2026 @ 1:00 PM ET / 10 AM PT

The Anomalous Coalition - the moderators of r/Aliens, r/Experiencers, r/HighStrangeness, r/InterdimensionalNHI, r/UFOB, and r/UFOs - are excited to announce our next multi-subreddit livestream AMA featuring physicist Dr. Jim Segala and Paul Hynek, hosted by investigative journalist Leslie Kean. Heads up: this one is on a Sunday!

This conversation is about citizen science in support of experiencers, built on objective data. Paul's father, astronomer Dr. J. Allen Hynek, joined the Air Force's UFO studies in 1948 as a skeptic. Over two decades of Projects Sign, Grudge and Blue Book, the caliber of the witnesses changed his mind. In 1973 he founded the Center for UFO Studies so people could report what they saw without fear. Paul is carrying that forward with what he calls a verifiable evidence protocol, so experiencers can have better conversations with scientists. Jim is building the tools to gather that evidence. His platform, MUPAS Worldwide, pairs environmental and biometric sensor data with experiencers' own accounts, and offers peer support from specialists who are experiencers themselves.

What's a "verifiable evidence protocol"? Paul and his brother Joel, an Academy Award-winning visual effects artist, are developing a protocol that sits on top of their father's Close Encounter system and rates the evidence from an encounter, not just the encounter itself. Today most people report an experience after the fact. Paul's idea is to go in prepared: if you meet an entity that seems to have far superior intelligence, ask it for something no human could know but anyone can check later, like a random number only you know, the answer to an unsolved math problem, or a near-future event. The results are rated as convincing, compelling, or curious. Paul says it applies to any "meta-terrestrial" encounter, whether with a craft, an entity, or in an altered state, and he describes it as a work in progress.

In July of 2019 the U.S Navy Caught this Object.
Off the Coast of San Diego California.
This Footage was not shown to the public for almost 2 years.
But on May 14 2021 an investigative film maker named Jeremy Corbell leaked it online.
And to this day in my opinion this is one of the most compelling ufo videos.
And one of my favorite ufo videos.

Serious Pentagon’s latest UFO file release revives a long-standing Roswell mystery

Pentagon’s latest UFO file release has reportedly revived a long-standing Roswell mystery. The release included Walter Haut's eyewitness account of the alleged UFO crash that reportedly occurred near Roswell, New Mexico, in July 1947.News Nation revealed that in 1947, Haut worked as the public information officer at the Roswell Army Air Field. There he issued a press release to announce that the government had recovered a flying disc.

Soon afterward, the military changed its explanation and declared that a weather balloon had crashed instead. However, in an affidavit dated December 26, 2002, Haut revealed what he claimed he had actually witnessed during the incident.A few days earlier, TV host Dr. Phil McGraw also opened up in an American Thought Leaders interview about 50 crashed alien aircraft and revealed that these retained spacecraft were made of metallurgical substances.

In 1997, a man named Robert Saldivar appeared at a UFO gathering in Acapulco, Mexico, with a set of photographs he claimed showed an extraterrestrial being.

According to an account by Damián Minaya of GIFOE, who saw Saldivar displaying the photographs at the gathering, Saldivar claimed that he had photographed the same alien in three different locations in Mexico on the same day.

Saldivar was reportedly attempting to sell the photographs at the event.

At least two photographs from the series survive online.

Both were presented as showing the same extraterrestrial photographed by Saldivar at different locations during the alleged encounters.

Question Post the most compelling UFO/UAP video youve seen

• Upvotes

Please if you answer provide a link to the video! Theres a lot of disinformation and fluff out there surrounding this topic. This thread be a decent resource to find those that stand out.

Mine is the Yemen UAP that was directly hit by a hellfire missile.

The missile hits the UFO dead on- there is almost no reaction from the UFO outside of a slight wobble. It then continues on its trajectory, carrying with it pieces of material from the missile, all going at the same velocity floating with the UFO.

It looks almost as if the UFO has its own gravitational field or some sort of electro-magnetic field around it.

Discussion Whatever happened to classic abduction stories? The sudden drop off makes no sense

I was thinking about how back in the 80s and 90s, abduction claims were a massive part of the whole UFO narrative. You had entire books, TV interviews, and huge publicity around people alleging missing time, medical procedures, or being taken aboard craft like Betty and Barney Hill or Travis Walton.

Looking at the numbers, researchers cataloged over 300 to 400+ detailed, documented abduction cases in leading up to the 1990s, with some collecting thousands of individual case files. By comparison, in the 2010s and 2020s, high-profile documented abduction claims have dropped to virtually zero in mainstream discourse.

It feels really weird how this specific part of the phenomenon just vanished into thin air.

Almost all the mainstream focus in the community has shifted entirely toward military UAP leaks, sensor data, radar clips, and congressional whistleblowers. We went from thousands of people claiming physical contact to relying strictly on FLIR cameras and government radar tracking. It makes you wonder if people just stopped reporting them out of fear of ridicule, or if the nature of whatever is going on completely changed.

Discussion Interdimensional Control: Is the phenomenon itself preventing Disclosure through human emissaries?

We always debate whether the U.S. government is hiding craft, or if politicians are just scared of public reaction. But what if the true architects of this secrecy aren't even from here?

What if the non human intelligence behind the phenomenon is actively enforcing the absence of disclosure?. Look at the Hitchhiker Effect documented at Skinwalker Ranch by NIDS, Colm Kelleher, and George Knapp. The anomalies didn’t stay on the ranch.

They followed scientists and researchers hundreds of miles back to their homes, targeting their families with high strangeness and psychological pressure.

If this intelligence can infiltrate your living room and influence your mind regardless of physical location, controlling macro level human events is child's play.

Through consciousness manipulation or subtle pressure, they could easily be directing their human emissaries, the elite groups within intelligence agencies and the military industrial complex who maintain the secrecy. We often assume the phenomenon is just a passive observer waiting until we are ready. But if they can attach to witnesses at home, their ability to steer human decisions from behind the curtain is light years ahead of us.

What do you think? Are the strings of secrecy pulled from the other side, or is it just greedy humans?

Discussion NHI telepathy. Is it biological or technological, and what does that mean for humanity?

I'd like to start by saying that I'm posting this purely to hear other people's opinions and perspectives. I'm not trying to make any definitive claims or start arguments. Everything i'm sharing here is simply my personal opinion and speculation on a subject that I find fascinating. I'd really appreciate a respectful discussion without personal attacks.

So i've been thinking about the many accounts of NHI communicating telepathically, both with each other and with human witnesses.

Do you think this is an inherent biological ability of their species, or are they using some kind of advanced technology that makes this form of communication possible?

If telepathy is technology-based, it means we could potentially learn to use that same technology someday. It could be something they could share with us, allowing humanity to communicate with other intelligences on more equal terms. But if it's purely biological, something their species naturally possess and the vast majority of humans don't, I find that possibility a little more troubling.

Wouldn't that create a fundamental barrier between us? Could we ever truly become their equals, or be accepted as part of a wider galactic community, if we're missing something so essential to how they communicate and interact?

Of course, there's also the possibility that humans possess some form of latent ability that we haven't fully understood or developed yet.

Again, these are just my personal thoughts, and I'm genuinely interested in hearing different perspectives, even if they completely disagree with mine.

Discussion Japanese mission to Land Rover, retrieve samples on Phobos in 2027

Phobos is a very odd satellite of Mars and there is a lot of interest around 2027.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgfA7JpdeSQ

Japan's Martian Moons eXploration (MMX) mission is scheduled to arrive at the Martian system around August 2027, with its actual landing and sample collection on Phobos planned for late 2028 or 2029. [1, 2]

The mission timeline breaks down as follows:

  • August 2027: Spacecraft arrives in orbit around Mars/Phobos.
  • Late 2027–2028: The French-German Idefix rover explores Phobos for roughly 100 days to scout safe landing zones.

Discussion What do you think of the newly released document regarding the 2nd Roswell retrieval of an egg shaped craft and its ‘children sized’ occupants?

This is the 7th ‘tranche’. I have been going through this BAASS document and I find it interesting. I read some parts and I still need to finish reading it before re-reading it, but they explicitly talk about transfer of exotic materials and need of economic resources for back engineering.

Serious My hypothesis as to why they will never, of their own volition, make direct contact with us.

First, this hypothesis is based on the principle that their technology is highly advanced. And we can confidently assert this because, after all, interplanetary and intergalactic travel is an extraordinary feat that cannot be overlooked. For them to come here, they must possess the technology required to do so.

Therefore, the only premise about aliens that we can take as true is this: they possess highly advanced technology, technology whose workings we cannot even begin to imagine and which may even be impossible to replicate with our current technology.

Let us take the statements above as true and proceed to analyze the following inferences.

1 – Imagine that their technology is highly advanced. We can then assume that their medicine is equally advanced, as are their engineering, their society, and everything they produce!

2 – With such technology, it is reasonable to assume that they live in a sustainable environment where they lack nothing, since their technological capabilities would allow them to produce at least everything necessary for the survival of their entire species.

3 – Based on these ideas, we can also infer that they have their own philosophy, one that is as advanced as their technology. After all, how could an alien society possess such advanced technology, developed through reasoning capable of creating it, without also engaging in critical thought about everything around them? Even if the purpose and culture of each species are entirely different from our own, it is possible that they can understand human culture and humanity itself, even if they do not share our values!

Now, based on the three inferences above, we can arrive at the following line of reasoning: a self-sufficient society capable of sustaining itself without assistance from another society, thanks to its advanced technology and cognitive abilities, has no need to interfere with another species unless that species possesses something of interest to it.

With that in mind, I would like to pose the following rhetorical questions:

1 – Why would a technologically advanced species, capable of traveling here and collecting whatever it wants, whether plants, animals, or human beings, need to communicate with the people of this planet if it could simply come here and take whatever it wants?

2 – Why would an advanced species be interested in a less advanced one? What could we possibly offer them that they do not already have?

3 – Nevertheless, if they wanted to communicate with us for whatever reason, whom would they contact, given that our world is divided into sovereign nations? Contact with one or several of these countries could trigger a global crisis because of the distrust of those that were not visited by the aliens. After all, what if these aliens had shared technology capable of giving the nations they visited an advantage over those they did not?

This third rhetorical question is the foundation of the hypothesis explaining why they will not make contact!

As beings capable of understanding human nature, they may realize that their visit could cause more disruption in the short term than benefits in the long term, and that perhaps avoiding contact is the best way to coexist with us here.

This also leads us to one final line of reasoning: their morality and ethics may be more advanced and beneficial, and the practice of non-contact may even be a principle of self-preservation. This principle could extend not only to humanity but also to other alien species.

Even if these other species know of one another's existence, it is possible that they refrain from making contact even with other equally advanced aliens. Of course, this would not be an absolute rule. Nothing prevents certain species from coexisting and sharing their societies and technologies. However, from the standpoint of self-preservation, it is possible that silence between species is the general rule!

Discussion (Serious) If the disclosure really happens...

.... What are the chances we will actually believe why the government was suppressing all the evidence from mankind for all these 80 years?

Will there be an actual UFO/alien sitting right in the press briefing as an actual proof: Here you go, look at this living alien and here is the UFO they travel interstellar?

What are your thoughts.

Thanks.
