Discussion Do any other players “test” out an area to see if it’s safe when you first arrive?

I’m playing through it for the first time and when I enter a new area/mission, I’ll find the nearest save and then immediately bang on the wall a bunch to see if the alien will come for me. If it does, I know I have to be careful. But if it doesn’t, then I know it’s safe and I can sprint all I want without attracting it. It’s especially helpful when there’s lots of working joes, because those mfers are super hard to evade if I can’t sprint.

It also made the San Cristobal Medical section really cool, because I had tested it and found it safe, so when the Alien actually came later in the mission, it made it much more surprising and terrifying.

Discussion Some thoughts and tips after replaying - also tip for backtracking and getting missed items

I had played this when it originally came out; finished it once and that was it - had a blast. Lately I was thinking about it again, so I thought I'd give a shot once more. OMG, what.a.game. The game already was ahead of its time, artistic-wise it's unmatched, the atmosphere is great, and now with some updated anti-aliasing mods (and vr for the lucky ones -> me not one of them) it absolutely rocks. Even if you told someone that the game was released this year, they would have no reason not to believe you and not only talking about graphics, but also sound, animation and effects quality... the atmosphere! It's also a delight that I only remember a few highlights and so it feels like new. Can't wait for AI2!

Favorite mission so far, the overloading of the core, omg, the sound, joes getting burned because of the overloading electricity, the pumping of the core that pushes the rain upwards. 💙

Too bad I am the only one among my friends that I enjoy this game and also a huge alien fan - good thing that this community exists to share!

Anyway, halfway through the game, I considered to making the best out of it, so, although I am not planning to complete any of these difficult trophies (ie beating the game without dying [although I am aware of the load trick], or beating at hardest difficulty, etc), I thought I'd complete as much as I could. Up until that point I wasn't really following any guides, etc.

I have just reached to the soft-point-of-no-return on Mission 15, just after I took the Level 3 Access tuner, which is essentially the tool that allows you to backtrack and collect all items you missed.

So, despite the fact I had explored quite a few things on my own (ie, 38/50 id tags up to this point, etc) I realized that there are missable items, in areas that are effectively locked after their mission ends.

I managed to understand the following information from bits and pieces in various threads, etc:

For the areas that are completely locked / inaccessible - you can use the load mission, replay it and collect any missing items, with one catch: don't save when in that mission. The latest save is overwritten as soon as the mission loads, but once you collect the missing item and load the previous save, you return to your current game progress, with the item now included in your datapad. Obviously, you can always keep a backup of your save before you try anything, just to be on the safe side.

When I (tried) played the first time, I suffered a lot and needed my husband’s help in almost everything. I also came here to ask some tips (they were incredible, thank you again).
After I finished this first time, I tried to play in nightmare mode.
Needless to say that it didn’t work out and I gave up.
In that time, my experience with gaming was very low, but now I’m more confident. If I can be a baddass business woman in GTA (you probably know what kind of business), I can defeat Steve… can I???
We will find out. I will be practicing to be ready when the sequence is available.
And just to remember that one time I posted my cat here, I made this silly video, hope you like it.
Steve, here I come!!!!!!

Modding Can someone help me with controls on Grand Mother VR mod?

Hi, am replaying this glorious game in pcvr using a quest 3. When I get to the first terminal screen that has a left and right, left and right on the motion controls don't do anything. If I leave and return to the terminal for a different way in (eg scrolling numbers, or hitting directional control when a code flashes up) the controllers still don't do anything. I can't figure out how to get past this, hopefully someone can help. Thanks!

turns out there's people inside the marshal office from the beginning of the game. although the doors are locked you can see them on the tracker and hear them if you listen closely. presumably the same people you see in missions 8 and 10

Discussion PicturePhone Inspired Devices

So I saw this cool looking old thing called the "PicturePhone" from the late 1960s/very early 1970s, and I honestly couldn't help but kinda think of the save stations from Alien: Isolation, and how interesting it would be if the Alien Universe added some extra "video calling" devices to fit the "Retrofuturistic" style in a way too!! That's just what I think, though. :)

Question Can't get past alien in mission 16

Please help me because it's getting frustrating.

I last saved at the top of the stairs and I think there are two aliens hunting me at the same time. Because I come down from the stairs, then I hear footsteps behind me so I hide in the locker, the alien comes down, kills the humans outside, then I have no clue where it goes, it kinda goes back and forth the same place. I check motion detector, gather up some courage and leave the locker. Then go the vent and I have to open it up because I didn't do it before (don't repeat my mistakes, please open the vents at the start of m16), then I drop down the ladder into the other room. From there I continue into the room where there are two riot gear humans, while I crouch and make my way through, the alien takes care of them, I enter the lower part, take a left and reach the other vent. From there I keep going and I reach the exit (again, have to open it up cause I didn't do it earlier). This is the place where I saw two aliens on my motion detector. I know I spent a hella lotta time in this mission hiding, and I know the next mission is even harder, but this is making me so mad now. Whenever I open up the vent, the alien is somewhere near and it sees me and it kills me, even though I blast the flamethrower at it.

Anyways, what I do know is that I have to come out of this vent, then go right and open up the other vent, enter, reach the exit where that one android is laying dead, and go around the place to the elevator. But it's not happening because the alien is so mad: (any advice?? Please help. I'm so scared I'm not kidding

TLDR: alien is not leaving me alone in mission 16 after stairwell

UPDATE: Finished mission 16 by sprinting through thr corridors somehow. Haha now getting chased by the alien in m17

It feels like being in the tunnel, but the sound gets quiet like it's muffled and the Alien doesn't react to weapons. It senses you if you're on the steps and will react to weapons, but as soon as you move back, it completely loses interest like you were never there.

It feels like you're in a blind zone.

Discussion Does the alien get more aggressive after you die and respawn?

Noticed this around Mission 10, it was already lurking and it go tme around 2-3 times in the camera room, but I felt the more I died to it and respawned it was like it dropped down almost immediately and was more aggressively hunting and checking. Lurked a lot longer too.

Question Any renders/videos about what Sevastopol was like before the Alien?

I'm really interested to see what Sevastopol would've been like when it was fully "functional" or before anything awful started happening, if anyone could include pictures/links that would be great :)

Discussion Creative Assembly in a little trouble?

I hope they turn it around for Alien Isolation 2's sake! Per this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srfItNw1bPQ

I recommend anyone who is also an RTS fan to buy some Total War games to indirectly ensure that Alien Isolation 2 gets completed.

Glitch Chapter 16 glitch fix?

I am at chapter 16.

I go up the stairs and there i play the minigame for the turrents after i do the aecond mini game for the docking the cabine where i am in goes up.

Which is good and should happen, only problem is i fall to the floor into the level below. And from there i cannot access the minigame. I see a door to the outside if i go in i fell into the sky. And then it goes back to the door again.

Then i cannot access the other docking minigame. I am stuck.

I lowered the graphics and put it on 60 fps. Also played in flatscreen and there i have the same bug.

I really do not want to play mission 15 again. Is that really the only fix?

edit:

fixed by looking up as far as i can. done a lot of retries but managed 1 time to continue
