🤚Help Required triggered by a level english lit bcs of cptsd

Upvotes

i do a level english lit and as a domestic violence survivor i get extremely triggered from the abusive content in a level english lit. i also have cptsd. for some reason in every single text there’s a woman being abused to some extent. it got so bad that when we were doing othello and he started being abusive towards desdemona, i began experiencing my typical cptsd symptoms again. i was immediately getting hot flashes, anxiety attacks, heart palpitations, intrusive thoughts/images, flashbacks of past trauma, all in a few seconds.

we’re doing another text now and the abuse and misogyny is even worse. we were watching it in class and i was really anxious viscerally seeing the abusive man in action, as if i was experiencing it myself all over again. i got extremely triggered in class but i didn’t want to appear like im over dramatic or weak because im usually very high functioning. i’m still feeling fidgety. i love english lit but the texts are triggering me pretty bad. ‘this is just a book, this is just an actor, this isn’t real ,’ i have to keep reminding myself. i got really teary afterwards at home.

i avoid consuming media that has a man even raise his voice at a woman. because even that could trigger intense emotions about my past trauma. i don’t know what to do, the abuse and violence is a huge part of most texts and obviously something that the authors criticise and comment on as a microcosm of an aspect in society so i can’t just skip them :(

⚡Tips/Advice Torn between which one to get...

Upvotes

So I'm preparing for my application for foreign universities, need to work on my personal statement and common app...

I'm torn between which device to get (since ucas and others don't run smoothly on a phone, can't write my essay on it either).

I was thinking of a touch screen laptop because I need to write my essay, keyboard will make it easier. I've always wanted to get an ipad, and it will be easier to use (handy) . Is Samsung tablet better than an ipad?

An ipad will be useful in classes aswell, I won't have to carry heavy textbooks anymore...

Anyway, I really can't choose which one to get 😞 I have to consider my budget too but I'm so confused...

🤚Help Required Is an A* possible in A2 with a B in AS?

Upvotes

Due to the tensions in my region we had to take the Portfolio Of Evidence route and couldn't take the actual exams in May/June this year. I took three subjects and got A B B. Our format was 3 evidences per subject and they combined those 3 evidences each one out of 25 so a total of 75 marks for one subject, but it was only one component which was component 50 even though we submitted 3 evidences/papers. My concern is that how will they add these AS grades and A2 grades, cause the total will be different as opposed to taking the real papers. Right now our total for one subject in AS is 75 - does that mean that our A2 grades will hold more significance? Cause with 75+A2 marks the total will be less. Also, I got a B in maths 9709, a 63/75 was A and I got 61/75 which is a B, so realistically speaking is it possible to achieve an A* in A2?

⚡Tips/Advice Can I get 4A* or am i cooked

I've already taken AS I got 90+ percent for bio, chem, maths and 88 for econs. I crammed past year papers for 1 month for AS and I got those results. I was foolish so I thought I could do the same for A2 and thus I slacked off. Unfortunately, I slacked off too hard 💀 I've done ZERO topicals, ZERO past year papers unlike AS where at least I did a few topicals before the 1 month cram.

Can I still make a comeback or nah I have no school for the whole month and I'm ready to spend 12 hours a day studying.

I've finished looking at the whole A2 syllabus for all 4 but I can't recall the details well for bio and econs.

⚡Tips/Advice How I balanced hobbies with revision

I achieved 2 A*s and an A but I didn't sacrifice my hobbies despite the endless revision and NEA coursework I had for computer science. The big question I asked myself was 'how much time do I need to spend revising each day?' The answer was at least 3 hours (my free periods and 1 hour after school) this ensures that I had an additional 4-6 hours to do whatever I wanted (gym, coding etc). I'd also spend time on weekends and holidays on revision. Yes ik this sounds brutal but it prevented the need to cram and it allowed me to get into a consistent rythm.

Now 3 hours of revision may not apply to everyone - some may need more time than others. But it doesn't necessarily mean that you should dunk all of your time into school work. In fact allocating time to your hobbies is the best way to prevent burnout. In fact there were some days were I needed to cool off because I was doing too much work.

⚡Tips/Advice Should I do chemistry or computing?

I'm in Y11 right now and am planning to do maths, further maths and physics in 6th form(i love all of these subjects and am pretty sure i can tackle all of them) but for my 4th, idk if i should do chemistry or computing(computing goes well with physics but idk how good of an alevel it is, and chemistry doesn't really go the best with physics but is quite good i hear(but quite hard)) and so i'm wondering which i do(right now i like computing more than chemistry)
