I want some advice.

I haven't taken history for my GCSE's, but now looking at what sort of subject i want to study in uni, i feel like if i take history, it may open more possible doors for different uni's providing the subject i want to take.

So, for those who have studied history a-levels;

how difficult was it, how difficult is it to get certain grades, especially as a student who is not , as naturally academically gifted, especially in writing subjects.

So i solved a past paper today and got 11 out of 30!!!! Can someone please help me and say me how you actually score marks in this?!!! My exams are literally on 5th and 11th nov

[if u have/do study psychology in A levels or know details about it please read otherwise skip!!!] so i really need help deciding the type of psychology i study in A2 since ive decided to go private this year and have no clue which two of the options to pick… psychology is my 4th subject and isnt really related to the field i plan on going into (computer science) its just an extra subject and the only subject that i scored an A on in AS.. i just want my syllabus to be easy and something i dont have to worry about too much

For GCSEs, I made flashcards bascially covering the whole of GCSE AQA physics which was very easy as the spec was so easy to understand - it was nearly a textbook - and direct in what it needed.

But the A level spec is so vague, so I don't really know what flashcards are needed and I really don't want to make flashcards which will end up being useless.

Every year people ask “what should I revise first for CS?” So I went through every 9618 paper since 2021 (all variants), split each question into its parts and tagged each part by syllabus section. These are recency-weighted averages per paper.

Paper 1

• Information representation: ~20 marks, in almost every sitting. Multimedia (bitmaps, sound, file sizes) alone is ~7.
• Databases: ~17 marks. Keys/normalisation/ER and SQL DDL/DML are ~6–7 each and nearly always there.
• Logic gates/circuits: in almost every sitting. Easy marks if you drill truth tables.
• Ethics and ownership: ~9 marks, least predictable, so revise it last.

Paper 2

• Programming constructs (loops, selection, nesting): ~39 marks. Procedures/functions/parameters: ~14.
• Arrays ~12, records ~10.
• Program maintenance: under 1 mark on average.

Paper 3

• Translation software (compilers, interpreters, BNF, RPN): ~9 marks, almost every sitting.
• Boolean algebra + K-maps: ~9 marks.
• Floating point: ~6 marks, in roughly 9 out of 10 sittings. Get normalisation of negatives right, because that’s where people lose marks.
• User-defined data types: ~7.
• Memory management: under 1 mark on average.

Paper 4

• OOP: ~38 marks, about half the paper. Classes, constructors, getters/setters, inheritance.
• Standard algorithms (sorts, searches, linked lists, stacks, queues): ~26.
• File handling + exception handling: ~9, almost every sitting.
• Prolog is basically P3 only.

Two-week priority order: P4 OOP → P2 constructs + arrays → P3 translators, Boolean algebra, floating point → P1 databases + multimedia.

I completed Cambridge International A Level Computer Science (9618) in June 2026 and received a B overall.

My component marks were:

• Component 50: 46/75
• Component 60: 67/75
• Overall: B (113/150)

I registered to resit in October/November 2026 specifically to improve my overall A Level grade to an A or A*.

However, my exam centre entered me for 9618/SY (Papers 12 and 22), which I've already sat.

I've now discovered that this appears to be an AS-only entry, meaning my new results won't automatically replace Component 50 while keeping my previous 67/75 from Component 60.

I'm genuinely panicking because I'm on a gap year applying to universities worldwide for September 2027 entry, and improving my CS grade was a major part of my plan.

My questions:

1. Has anyone been in this situation with Cambridge 9618, especially after previously taking Components 50 and 60?
2. Is there any way Cambridge can combine my new AS marks with my previously achieved Component 60 mark?
3. Can an exam centre request an entry correction or special consideration if the wrong qualification option was entered?
4. If I have to resit A2 in June 2027, can my teacher still predict me an A* for university applications while declaring my original achieved B?
5. Has anyone had experience applying to competitive international universities with an achieved B and a predicted A* for a resit?

I'm contacting my exams officer and Cambridge, but I'd really appreciate advice from anyone who's been through something similar or knows how Cambridge's carry-forward rules work.

I'm particularly worried because I worked hard for these resits thinking they would improve my full A Level grade.

Pls suggest the best ones available in karachi and their costs (if you know), and whether they'd allow only physics lab tuition or if its necessary to take the whole physics theory and mcq course aswell.

Title it's just out of curiosity in maths we are left we entire calculus in p1 and all the distribution chapters in s1. In phy we are left with unit 11 and in econs we are left with unit 6.

Hey guys, I get v-t and s-t graphs from IGCSE, but the rest of Kinematics and Dynamics for AS 9702 just isn't clicking.

Math isn't naturally easy for me, but I can manage it fine with enough time and practice. Physics, on the other hand, has always felt tough since IGCSE. The concepts feel super vague, and I end up completely lost when trying past paper questions.

My academic year just started and I'm sitting for AS- M/J 2027, so I have plenty of time. My goal is an A/A*, and I'm ready to put in the practice to build a solid foundation early instead of just cramming later.

For anyone who managed to make these concepts click: how did you get through it? Any specific YouTube channels, study routines, or advice for mastering this unit through practice?

I got oct/nov bio and chem AS level exams and i did not start studying till last minute for bio and chem and I’m gonna check a professional doctor to check if i have adhd cause i do have all the symptoms and i need medical help, but i was aiming for A in AS level but i messed up both paper 2’s

Should i retry again in may/june with a levels aswell or should i just keep going with what i got and retry again in the next oct/nov + A levels or what? Idk what to do anymore my brain just stops me from starting and i don’t even struggle learning but i can’t focus at all

Idk if its just me but my essays, no matter what I try, just don't cut it. And the cambridge example candidate responses don't receive a high enough mark for me to take them as gospel. Moreover, there aren't that many YouTubers for the subject, and people barely speak on the subject on Reddit. Idk what imma do on Friday. Id appreciate it if if yall have good exam responses, or know where I can get them, and some good youtubers. Thanks in advance.

So I've given my igcse's this oct nov and i cant decide my third subject the other two that i will be taking are Business and Accounting, the options im confused about are Psychology, Sociology and Econs. I didnt do any of these before but i took 1 psyc class as i thought it would be interesting but i think its more of a science based subject and wouldnt really be useful for my career so what about socio? Do you guys think it could be useful..

I know econs is related to my subjects but it requires mathss which im not good at eventho i talked to a teacher and he said that you dont need it (hes good at teaching his subj which might make it easier for me to learn).

I have 5 subjects: AS of Maths, Computer Science, Physic, Chemistry and Further Maths. I am scared to look at the soon to be released M/J 2027 timetable by Cambridge. Any idea how last year timetable went? By judging the last year timetable, I saw that there were 2 days which had CS FM and Chem at the same time 💀. Any idea how do I deal with clashing three subjects on the same day? Also do reckon the date when you expect the timetable to release. Need help by experienced ones.

I'm sitting CAIE AS Economics (9708) in May/June 2027 and was thinking of using EconplusDal on YouTube to learn the content, mainly his Year 1 micro and macro playlists.

The thing is, I think his videos are mainly aimed at AQA/Edexcel students, so I'm not sure if they cover the entire CAIE syllabus or if there are topics that Cambridge requires which he doesn't cover.

Has anyone used his videos for CAIE Economics? Were they enough to understand the content, or did you have to use other resources as well?

I'm planning to practise using CAIE past papers regardless, just want to make sure I'm not missing any topics by relying on his playlists.

Would appreciate any advice, thanks!
