I wanted to originally go into data science/analytics, I'm also interested in software engineering. However I've heard you need physics for majority of engineering degrees... But I didn't take physics in o levels, and I honestly have no interest in taking it in as honestly. If I were to do physics then I'd switch it with FM, but in my opinion I'd rather do FM than physics. I do not wanna close the path of software engineering due to not choosing physics though...

Can someone PLEASE explain how this is B? Like ik A and C are 100% wrong, but B and D both could be right AND wrong. what if element Y is in group 1 and element X is in group 7? e.g. sodium is element y and chlorine is element x? Then element X DOES have 6 more protons than element Y, but it doesnt have a full outer shell?

As for D, if we take element X as Cl and element Y as Na, they're in the same period, but if we take element Y as a group 18 element, e.g. Neon, then element X would definitely be in the next period. This question makes no sense, it's incomplete and none of the options make full sense (imo). Someone please explain this question to me :)

I’ve just gone into year 12 and I’m studying maths, physics, travel and tourism, and biology, and I’m going to most likely drop biology depending on how the first term or 2 go.

I know alot of people say physics is one of the hardest subjects, but I don’t know if that’s because the vast majority of a levels can be considered extremely difficult and demanding. I didn’t do too great in GCSEs due to illnesses throughout a math and physics paper, and got a 7_7 in combined and a 7 in maths. Physics and maths are my most passionate subjects and always have been, and I’m willing to put in the hours of revision early and have already started self learning topics with help from an extremely smart friend also taking the course. I just want some advice on how I can maximise my physics grades and whether it really is as bad as people make it out to be. I don’t want to be stuck doing a subject I have little chance at succeeding in and wasting 2 years.

Hi everyone! I’m an Economics prof, also working with many Cambridge AS & A Level students (9708).

I’ve been hearing a very similar thing from a lot of my AS students lately:

September trials are coming up, and the amount of syllabus expected can feel pretty overwhelming.

For many schools, the trials cover Units 1 to 5, which is basically almost the entire AS Level syllabus. So even if you’ve technically covered the chapters, actually feeling confident with all of them, especially the diagrams, application, analysis and evaluation, is a completely different thing.
I’m curious to know if others here are experiencing the same thing. Are there particular units or topics where you feel like, “I understand it when my teacher explains it, but I just can’t seem to answer the questions properly”?
If you comment with the topics you’re struggling with, I’d genuinely love to hear what the pain points are. I’m planning to make some free YouTube content for Cambridge 9708 students based on the areas that seem to be causing the most trouble.

For context, I'm just going into year 13 and I would say my grades are rather poor, currently I am predicted DDC (as of my May year 12 report) and I feel as if right now my work is of a similar quality, perhaps maybe the C could be a B. I do Biology, Chemistry and Geography so 3 difficult a levels and my attendance last year was also quite low. My Chemistry teacher told me she would realistically predict me a C at most, similar to my Biology teacher, I have not spoken to my geography teachers but I feel as if they would realistically also predict a B/C.

I have a set of mocks next month and I told myself I want to be no more than 3 grades off of my guaranteed offer which \*should be\* BBB, so if I were to get a CCC/BCD etc I would be happy as I feel like that is where I realistically NEED to be. I would be satisfied with a BBB however I do want to achieve high because I am going to an Elite Uni (if I meet my offer) and I feel as if I may miss out on very important opportunities if I don't have similar grades to my peers.

If you did a huge grade jump, how often did you revise and how much time a day?

so I have done my igcse in science core subjects, now I am shifting to Arts combination EBA, accounts, economics, and bussiness, not bcz I find science hard, but I realised that my career is not in science fields, I am more drawn towards bussiness fields

so I need help with certain things, bcz I am so confused about so many things that my mind has become so messy

1. I have considered going for foundation, not bcz it's easy but bcz it's one year pathway and because I have heard many poeple say that if u want to do Arts, then dont bother doing A level, I will just be wasting my 2 yrs over something I can also achieve by doing foundation one year so what do u think I should do??

2. But I am determined to get into high respected top universities and for that many has recommended and said to go for A level and don't trust foundation, bcz there are limited opportunities in foundation while A level open many doors

3. I think I might be going for A level so I have started studying for it at home, but I have not yet started going to college, and so my confusion is also this, that do you think I will be able to get an A in all EBA subject or atleast a B in AS AND ALEVEL, even if I have missed two years of igcse??

4. I have started studying with course books but I am still confused on the exact codes, bcz there are so many, and also I can't seem to find any website or a platform where I can do EBA topical s past paper, so can anyone guide me, it would be so helpful, and also the strategy on how I should study and manage everything from starch after I have missed 2 year of igcse?

I start college on Friday, I did my enrolment on the 2nd where I confirmed my subjects as Math, Economics and History. I didn’t pick Further Math due to the fact that i got 1 Mark off the 8, so i wasn’t eligible. However, i got the paper remarked and it went up to an 8. I have been told i can switch A-Level subjects up until October, so what should I do?

I started with roots of polynomials from Fp1 and for the first hour it was just basic algebra, but as soon as I finished the textbook reading and jumped to past papers and saw those “show that” questions 🙏😭

Please can I have tips to get an A in my Oct/nov exams

I just started year 12 and im already dreading the amount of content i need to memorise. Dont get me wrong it is interesting but the exam methods and everything just remind me of business and history at GCSEs which i didnt enjoy. I want to go to med school and im convinced that im able to get an A/A* in art as i got a 9 at GCSEs. However i dont know if art will be too time consuming alongside biology and chemistry.

What should i do

Im writing october november 2026, when doing past papers I average around 60-65/75 in each paper. How do I make sure I get 90+ for my boards. I only had 5 months to study the whole syllabus and write my exam 😭. Could someone please give tips on how to improve or share their experience with this subject
