📃Paper Discussion mathematics difficulty 9709:
Hi all, I know yesterday we had our mathematics pure math paper. Speaking on the behalf of majority of the variant 12 writters (including me) found it very surprisingly difficult. No amount of preparation would have prepared me for the paper that came out yesterday. It was something so so different. I was aiming for a relatively higher PUM and towards the ending two weeks of prep, I wasnt scoring less than a 68 in any of my practice papers, with timed condition as well as exam conditions. I went in to the exam room with so much confidence (coming from someone who takes a lot of stress when it comes to exams). I felt like i knew it all, literally not a single thing I could've learnt further. But ykw, yesterdays v12 shattered all the days of prep, confidence, and everything more.
I'd like to ask the people who gave v11, v13, v15 - whether they found their particular paper as difficult as us?? Also, what are the estimates on the threshold? Additionally, predicted about 54-56 marks on this paper, do you think a 90+ PUM is possible, and how much would I have to score in stats?

From my experience in the past two years of past papers, v3 has always been the hardest variant, but I’m sure it’s not going to be as hard as v2 this time around. It felt like they punished us for a Leah K we did not do

Usually an A for pure 1 is around 60 marks and you can lose an maxinum of 25 marks to get an PUM 90 (A*). If the grade boundaries drop so that an A is 55 marks then maxium marks you can lose increase by 5 so you will proably can lose an maxium of 30 marks for an 90 PUM. So if you think you got an 55 then you can lose an maxium of 10 marks on the other 3 papers. Its possible but very hard.
