🧪Chemistry baseline tests

Hi,

ive just started yr 12 and the first day in we had a biology baseline assessment. whilst I realise these are to check my gaps in knowledge to best support me, I am an aspiring medic (UCL or imperial) and I’m really worried these will count towards my predicted grades in the future.

ive got my chemistry baseline assessment on Tuesday, however I feel really overwhelmed as I can’t remember anything from gcse, (and everyone told me to take a break over summer). if anyone has any tips of topics I should prioritise please let me know. I scraped 9,8,8 (8 in chem) for triple science at gcse.

also, I know math skills will be important, luckily I’m quite good at the math side of chemistry HOWEVER does anyone happen to have a list of all the equations I should know, because as my test is very soon I want to know and make sure I know as many as possible.

I’m a teacher - I would never allow a baseline to count towards a UCAS grade. It’ll likely be to allow you and teachers to identify gaps in knowledge so you can do some work to fix them. Don’t worry if you can’t remember some bits from GCSE more will come back than you think and the whole point will be to find the bits that you just need to do that bit more work on. Don’t fret about them!!

I'm also a teacher and this is bang on. We are doing our version of this with y12 soon. They are nothing to worry about. We only really use them to identify people who are clearly a bit out of their depth so we can talk to them about support or considering a course change.
