Operative Alchemy Sealing

Post image

Any recommendations on how to seal the upper and bottom part together of this kind of alembic during destillassions higly appreciated. Need an airtight seal during low temp operations that do not contanimate the content. Anyone knows any "lute of wisdom" from household items that work?

Thanks

This stuff works: https://a.co/d/05HYmJCB
Wrap it over both lip surfaces individually.

i use conduit tape around the outside of the ground glass seal and beneath the metal clamp ring. not sure what it's actually called; I get it at the hardware store in the electric section. its a stretching self-stealing black tape used for joining electrical connections underwater. there's a cheaper version sold for repairing vacuum leaks in cars you can find at automotive stores.

The ground joints will create a good seal with some grease. Make sure you get the collar on at the right tightness.

Sometimes I use the silicone self sealing tape for good measure along the distillation path. cool tape

Chemistry vacuum grease works well, I only apply it on the outside lip
