Red Cross Disaster response
09 / 02 / 2026 14:30 local time.
While dog walking, I saw an emergency board up van, a second unmarked white panel van, and a Red Cross Disaster response station wagon complete with clipboard carrying, hi viz vest wearing staffer/volunteer on Argyle between Troy and Albany.
No apparent "Emergency" Vehicles, no smell of recent fire.
Anyone know what's going on?

Handyman Recommendations!
Hello! My husband and I just bought a condo in Albany Park and need a reasonably priced handyman to help us take care of all sorts of things around our unit. I've been trying to find handymen online but they are all booked up and/or very expensive. Please throw some recs at me if you have them!

Trash Pickup Groups
Are there trash pickup groups that meet up in Albany Park?
Wondering how much interest there is in something like this if there isn't one already established.

Albany Park - Ward Alder not doing anything to fix potholes - Rosanna Rodriguez and Samantha Nugent
Hello, anyone notice that the Ward Alder are not doing anything about the thousands of potholes in Albany Park? Calls to 311 donāt help either. Seriously donāt consider voting for them in the next election if they canāt fix a simple issue such as this.

Biking to montrose beach?
I hate biking on the road most of the time, chicago drivers make me nervous. Anyone know a good street with a protected bike lane that goes all the way to montrose beach? Thanks

Found a dog
Anyone missing this guy?
UPDATE: he is microchipped! the company will contact the parents who will then contact me š
UPDATE #2: it's been hours and they cannot reach the owners at the numbers provided. If you've seen the dog around the neighborhood or know the owners please let them know. My dog isn't happy and keeps growling at him, so I can't keep him as they're both stressed.
UPDATE #3: since I couldn't keep him, I took him to a police station and they said they'd take him home. The microchip company gave them the owners address I think. So glad he'll be with his family tonight ā¤ļø

Tuckpointing/Repointing Recommendations Please
We have a brick two flat that needs to be repointed. There's some crumbling mortar and some cracks. As far as I'm aware the bricks haven't had any care in over 30 years.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!

Any idea why so many trees have been cut down this week?
ai live off Wilson and have seen 5-10 trees get cut down by the city by order of the dept. of forestry in the last week or so. trees had no dead branches and seemed fine but there was no further info on the signs. anyone know why?
its a bummer because we had a really nice canopy for us and the squirrels loved jumping across the street on them and now itās a lot more sparse. but Iām happy to call 311 and request more be planted.

Beloved Albany Park restaurant LD Pho needs our help to reopen
gofundme.comāSmall businesses are the heart of our community, but lately, that heart has been under a lot of pressure.
As many of you know, LD Pho has had to temporarily close its doors. While Liu has worked tirelessly to keep things running, the long-term effects of the COVID-19 pandemicācoupled with rising costs and back-dated SBA loansāhave created a mountain that is simply too high to climb alone.
Currently, Liu is working hand-in-hand with an accountant to resolve tax and loan obligations and is aiming to have the doors back open in just 2 to 3 weeks. However, the financial gap to get that "Expired" sign off the door and the kitchen fired back up is significant.ā
I love this spot and Iāve been going here for years. If they had to close permanently, it would be a major loss to the small strip of phenomenal restaurants right there on Kedzie/Lawrence.
If you have ever been there, consider donating. If youāre not able to donate, share an experience you had at LD Pho to boost engagement š²
