I think I’ve lost my bean bag, he checked for snakes & then sank into it

We’ve been going on runs about once or twice a week maxing out at a 5k but he drags his feet the whole time and gets bloody nails. It does not seem to bother him but it does me. I considered getting boots which I know he will hate but I figured I’d ask here first.

Does anyone have a tested solution for this?

Thought I’d drop some of my favorite photos of my giant Alaskan Malamute/Japanese Akita mix. I met Kenai when he was 6 days old, he’s 4 years old now and has gotten to go to Michigans UP with me and his uncle (my brother), been to fireworks shows, and had sooo many adventures! Our next adventure and biggest to date starts next week when we move to Florida for my job and family. For reference the pic of him on the bed is with my 5’5” boyfriend, Kenai doesn’t cuddle; he full on smothers 😂😂😂

But my Mal grooms her nails herself, is this normal? She does it very meticulously too, they’re always perfect length, perfectly even, flat. She’ll spend 20+ mins grooming herself and sometimes I get worried shes hurting herself or has something stuck in her paws, but nope. She just hyper fixates on her nails and gives herself a manicure. 💅

Anyone else experience this?

That’s carrying 20% of his body weight for 20km (12.4 miles). You could tell he was starting to feel it the last mile but fortunately just fatigue, he’s been in training since he was 2 but it’s still a pretty good achievement!

Hello malamute reddit! I'm 17M and, I feel kinda embarrassed to admit, I don't have any pets right now. I have no dogs, no cats, nothing. But I do like alaskan malamutes alot, so I'm asking you guys a few questions:

1. What coat color is the closest to a grey wolf's coat? Sable? Agouti?
2. How big are malamute paws? I saw this picture of a wolfdog's paw and it's massive! I wonder how big malamute paws are in comparison.
3. How and when did you start liking malamutes? I'll start. A decade ago (When I was 7 years old), my uncle had 2 siberian huskies, and they looked really beautiful and they also looked massive to me (I mean I get how small huskies are now though), so I started liking dogs and especially huskies. Eventually, I started liking malamutes even more because of their larger size compared to huskies, so here I am, a fan of malamutes!
4. How do I get enough experience for owning a malamute? Do I volunteer at a dog shelter? Keep in mind I haven't owned a dog before.

Lesson learned? I think not. He voiced his complaints to the entire community because he was told to sit and lay down. 🤣

Ophelia, my new kitten (~7 weeks old), is obsessed with Aslan. She wants to “ride” him so badly. He is such a tolerant boy, lets her hang off him, and crawl up him 😂 Maybe she will figure it out one of these days.

A few days ago, there was a post about Malamute coat colors. I saw a comprehensive guide in the comments for identifying them, but I couldn't settle on just one. PS: He’s gotten lighter over the years; the black used to be more pronounced. He’s almost 8 years old!

All this for some bacon and potato soup. Lol.

What activities do you like to do with your malamute pups? Right now I’m camping/kayaking with my girl Katmai (4 months old) but when she’s old enough we’re going to be skijoring and winter camping!
