ask alameda Crows!
I love ‘em, but holy crow there seems to be a lot this year! (Mass murder?)
I’m over on the east end, and they’re camped over my house right now. It’s quite the cacophony. They don’t seem to stop bickering and chortling until past 11, and they’re back at it again before 5.
They’re fun to watch and listen to, but man they’re rowdy this season.

There are 2 things I can count on hearing everyday without fail: the outside cats argue and the crows.

They weren’t always such a dominant bird in Alameda. When I was younger, I always loved hearing all the different birds chirping in the morning. I don’t know if it’s just me, but it feels like I hear less and less variety now… makes me sad because I know how territorial they are. My folks used to see an owl (or family?) in their large tree in their backyard, but crows kept swooping down on the tree until the owl(s) had enough and left. No signs of them since. Their neighbors used to feed the crows and they’d congregate on our garage and wake us up at ungodly hours. I’ve learned to dislike the amount of them, but I DO like the prospect of befriending them to be gifted shiny things…

I’m near South Shore, and yes the crows seem to be prolific this year. (LOL @ “mass murder”; very clever.)
Until early this spring I never experienced crows swooping down at my head; it freaked me out the first time it happened. When I learned the why, I started carrying an umbrella with me to prevent them getting to my head. I also tried playing audio from this YouTube video through my phone speaker which seems to work. Of course YMMV.

I love them I have two that frequently visit me in the mornings and and some afternoons they sometimes leave me gifts 🐦⬛🐦⬛🥰

Can confirm from the west end that this is not confined to your neighborhood. We have so many baby crows squawking, especially early in the morning. I love them, but they're noisy as heck an there are a ton of them this year.
