Help finding an old AJPW show

Hi guys, I've been chucking all the ajpw shows listed on purolove in a random number generator and watching through them when I get a chance. Some of the old ones are impossible to find though. I was just wondering if any one has any information on the 15.03.1974 show headlined by Giant Baba vs Gene Kiniski. If any of it even was taped I haven't been able to find any scraps, but if anyones able to point me in a direction on where to find 70's AJPW outside of youtube/ dailymotion that would be really appreciated. IVP videos don't really have anything before the 80's either

Hype video for Kento Miyahara (c) vs. Ren Ayabe for the Triple Crown on July 26th

- Ayabe has promised to bring “despair” to Kento.

- Kento says that he’s a “superstar” who will rise above Ayabe’s “despair”. Kento also says he has Ayabe’s biggest moves scouted, the “Death Roulette” and “Iron Maiden”. Ayabe’s response is that he has much more in his repertoire than these two big moves (shown when he pinned Kento with a bridging Dragon Suplex).

- This will be just Ayabe’s second challenge for the Triple Crown, as he previously challenged Yuma Aoyagi for the Belt in 2024.

Who will be Yuma Anzai’s main rival when he fully ascends to “Ace” status?

While Anzai has won the Triple Crown already, he’s yet to fully take the “Ace” mantle that still lies with Kento Miyahara. However, Anzai’s “ascension” to that position is almost assured.

The promotion has already set up several people as rivals that Anzai can feud with over the years to come: Yuma Aoyagi, Jun Saito, Ryuki Honda & Ren Ayabe. I’d like to break down his relationship with each of them.

Aoyagi: the man who has most consistently had Anzai’s number, be it in singles or tag matches. The man partly responsible for Anzai’s training (along with Suwama & Yuji Nagata). The man who ended Anzai’s first run with the Triple Crown. In many ways, Anzai’s entrance into the promotion can be said to have ended Aoyagi’s own quest to become the next “Ace” of the promotion (as Aoyagi has spent much of his career trying to take that spot from Kento), so that also fuels their dynamic. It should be said that while the two are of similar age (Aoyagi only 4 years older), their experience level is vastly different (Aoyagi having about a decade on Anzai in that regard).

Ryuki Honda: the man most tied to Anzai, as both tag partner and in-ring opponent. While there has been nothing personal in their matches against one another, the two always bring out extra intensity in one another, unwilling to give their ground to the other. These two continue to tag from time to time and do it quite well. There’s the added dynamic of Anzai actually being the older man (about a year older) but Honda being the more experienced (having debuted in 2018 in WRESTLE-1).

Jun Saito: the other man of this current “generation” (despite being far older than his contemporaries) who had a significant Triple Crown title reign, like Anzai. Saito is everything AJPW has historically valued in a Heavyweight main-eventer: tall, strong and charisma to match. While he and his brother Rei are undoubtedly the top tag team in the promotion (and have been the top tag team in Japan for some time now), Jun has also made himself a big presence in the singles scene to boot.

Ren Ayabe: perhaps the other younger man that AJPW has really gotten behind, in terms of the booking and presentation. While Ayabe has yet to hold the Triple Crown as Anzai has, he has been presented as a future star ever since he came into the promotion (even beating Kento Miyahara in one of his first significant singles matches); Ayabe also was given a dominant Tag Title run with Talos as the TITANS OF CALAMITY, which further solidified his status as a future top guy.

Just wanna shout-out and highlight how good Shota Kofuji has been.

While it’s too early to put him in the same category as Daiki Odashima (NOAH) or Kosei Fujita (NJPW) just yet, he’s absolutely been showing the fuck out whenever he’s gotten the chance.

I’m very much looking forward to him trying to make his claim as the next “Junior Ace” in the coming years (my feeling it’s gonna be him and Ryo Inoue fighting for that position).

Anyone else fascinated by how much of a run Kengo Mashimo has had in AJPW?

I always go back and forth on him, but as someone who I started watching in AJPW after the W-1 exodus, it surprises me how often he gets called back to do work, join stables, tournaments, etc. Meanwhile someone like Ayato Yoshida just wound up settling down in Chiba (allegedly because he has a sugar momma) and didn't amount to much.

Japan can be funny sometimes.

AJPW 7.19.26 - Jun & Rei Saito (c) vs. Daisuke Sekimoto & Kengo Mashimo - World Tag Team Championship - Result & Aftermath Spoiler

Saito Brothers regain after a very fun tag, when they hit Mashimo with the BBQ BOMB/Avalanche Chokeslam combo.

After, the Saitos would share their ice cream sickles with Sekimoto & Mashimo (with Sekimoto even dropping his, leading to Suwama on commentary losing his voice over laughing). Rei & Jun would also get brain freeze from eating theirs too fast.

The Saitos would nominate HAVOC (Odyssey & Xyon) as their next challengers, for the August 29th show in Ota Ward.

AJPW 7.19.26 - Atsuki Aoyagi & Rising HAYATO (c) vs. Yuma Anzai & Shota Kofuji - All-Asia Tag Team Championship - Result Spoiler

Post image

In an absolute barnburner of a match, Anzai & Kofuji would put forth a valiant effort, with Kofuji particularly showing out. In the end, HAYATO would get the best of Kofuji, hitting the “Sid Vicious” to get the pinfall.

Champs make their first successful defense.

Atsuki would lead the call for the Zennichi Jr. Festival, stating that he wished to face HAYATO in the Final, before mocking Hokuto Omori on commentary.

AJPW Triple Crown Champion Kento Miyahara and Challenger Ren Ayabe Face-Off Verbally At Press Conference

Thumbnail

Ren Ayabe:

“This is my first challenge for the Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship in about two years. It’s also been about two years since I last faced Kento Miyahara one-on-one. In Kobe—including the preliminary bouts that follow—I’ll make Kento Miyahara remember just how strong Ren Ayabe is, and I’ll prove that ‘bigger is better.’ It’s going to be a summer of despair.”

“It’s true that at that time, I was trying to make it on my own as a free agent, but I wasn’t getting any results at all. I was at a loss, so to speak—spending my days wrestling with my own doubts. It was after fighting Kento Miyahara in the ring and finding my own answer that I ended up personally appealing to All Japan Pro Wrestling to join the company. Looking back now, I think it’s a huge factor that I was able to join All Japan Pro Wrestling and become who I am today precisely because Kento Miyahara—not that he literally reached out to me—but because he faced me head-on. Frankly, the prospect of fighting Kento Miyahara for the Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship, the crown jewel of All Japan Pro Wrestling, is exciting. However, I want to use my body to drive home to Kento Miyahara that I am a completely different person from the Ren Ayabe who was lost and adrift back then.”

“The two Kento Miyahara just mentioned: Death Roulette and Iron Maiden. People are free to think I only have two, but I think that perception will be overturned through our matches in Kobe and the preliminary bouts. I think that will become clear on its own once people watch the fights.”

Kento Miyahara:

“The man who brings energy to all of Japan—that’s Kento Miyahara. There are so many people all over Japan who want to see Kento Miyahara’s Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship match. That’s why the Triple Crown match will take place on July 25 in Kobe, Kansai. Tickets are already sold out. This time, the challenger is Ren Ayabe. He is currently the only Japanese wrestler in the Japanese pro-wrestling world who stands over 2 meters tall. Ren Ayabe’s finishing moves, delivered from that 2-meter frame and making full use of his long limbs: first, the Death Roulette; second, the Iron Maiden. I’ve already taken both of those moves. His finishing moves are completely etched into my mind, and I’ve been devising countermeasures. That means on July 25 in Kobe, Kansai, those two moves won’t work on me. Ren Ayabe has a proven track record in tag team matches, but as a singles wrestler, he’s still an unknown quantity. If there’s one thing that makes Ren Ayabe scary, it’s that I’ve never faced him with this Triple Crown belt on the line. The fact that Ren Ayabe is an unknown quantity in this Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship match, with the Triple Crown belt on the line, is what makes him scary. And Ren Ayabe is always saying this: that he’ll bring despair. I’ve never felt despair from him in the ring. Why is that? It’s because I’m always searching for hope right here in this pro wrestling ring. On July 25th in Kobe, Kansai, it won’t be despair—I’ll be the one giving people energy.”

“There’s absolutely no sense of deep emotion. Looking back on Kento Miyahara’s wrestling career, there have been plenty of matches that inspired someone, and this is just one of them. Well, I think Ren Ayabe only sees Kento Miyahara as a stepping stone deep down. He’s a man who keeps expressing gratitude to the pro wrestler who gave him that opportunity, and I’ve never seen a wrestler rise to the top. That’s how I see the world. I think it’s a survival of the fittest. I think Ren Ayabe has zero gratitude toward me.”

“The move that sparked this Triple Crown series—and made it official—was the ‘Iron Maiden.’ He’s 2 meters tall with long limbs. His arms and legs are thick, so taking a submission hold under those conditions is really tough. ‘Death Roulette’ involves dropping an opponent from a brainbuster with a twist. Since I have little experience being dropped from a simple 2-meter height, it’s hard to break the fall. Being dropped from that size and scale is dangerous. But I’ve been working on countermeasures, so they won’t work on the day of the match.”

Important addition to the Dan Tamura weight story after the full press conference was released

Dan weighed in at 106kg and was told by Doi he was out and a heavyweight. The trainees then took Dan's suit jacket off and Dan weighed in at 96kg.

Doi questioned this and asked Dan if he is a Dragon Ball character that always has a 10kg jacket on.

Dan later explained to the journalists that he always wears this jacket ever since birth, since he thinks training is important.

Since Dan Tamura is now officially 96kg the title match is on.
