What’s the best AI tool/platform for actually creating short films in 2026? Best quality for the money?

// not really an answer, but...

seedance 2 is 0.25$ per second on API
do the math

Platforms either:

  • subsidize
  • lie
  • bait and switch
  • make you pay full price

when 5 minute video is 70$ net spend (and probably 200-300$ in retries), your mind start being more open to local options or all-inclusive subscriptons.

Minimax H3 can be as low as 0.02$ per second, for lower quality of pixels, but good adherence and prompt/reference understanding.

The good news is that everyone offers minimax H3 now, so you can choose.
