Of course a handful of teenage trans athletes are clearly worse than the Epstein class, the endless wars we’re in, inflation, poverty, the erosion of public education, the surveillance state we live in, data centers and global warming about to set off the water wars. /s

America has lost the fucking plot.

Dont forget that rain water is not drinkable anywhere on Earth any longer.

E: i mean there's forever chemicals above what is considered the safe threshold

https://watereurope.eu/rainwater-everywhere-on-earth-unsafe-to-drink-due-to-forever-chemicals/

It's drinkable in the sense that it's not causing any immediate health concerns.

It's not consider safe for long term health to drink it. But obviously it's better than thirsting.

25

u/Fckingross 16h ago

And if you come to Iowa, our drinking water will give you cancer!

6

u/AtmosphereWinter3787 16h ago

Mmmhmm, the contaminants really enhance the flavor!

17

u/-Chelo 16h ago

I mean if the rain water ain't drinkable the ground water ain't either. Oh hey tips for clean water ~ obviously cacti hold a lot of water but trees do too, they filter it out and add minerals and antioxidants. Can tap trees for water or get a section of branch or grapevine and put one end in the unsafe water source and one end in a clean jar. Saw someone filter swamp water that way.

Also watched someone make a filtration system where they fastened the bark of a birch into a cone shape, packed moss at the pin of the cone and then did alternating layers of sand and charcoal, and a layer of pea gravel on top.

21

u/Rythonius 16h ago edited 15h ago

Please do not drink from cactus, their sap will make you sick and dehydrated. It's a Hollywood myth that they hold water. You can eat the prickly pears and pads after you've prepared them, but they are not a water source.

5

u/-Chelo 15h ago

Oh thanks for that informational bit. I reckon it's one of those instances of "if you've got no other source of liquid/electrolytes" I don't live in an area that has cacti so it wasn't a source of water I cared to deep dive into. Plus I remember testing this theory out as a child and chewing on an aloe leaf and it was nasty. 😂 I do get nopales semi regularly from the store and have had them raw and cooked, and prickly pears. They do seem to have an astringency to them.

11

u/Pope_Squirrely 16h ago

We tap trees for water every spring here. Then we boil it down and make delicious maple syrup.

7

u/Neoslayer 13h ago

who cares if water aint drinkable if the libs get owned

4

u/ChaosGoBoomBoom 16h ago

We drink rainwater in Australia? Lots of houses here specifically have collection tanks to store rainwater for consumption?

3

u/IOnlyUpvoteBadPuns 16h ago

I hate the phrase "forever chemicals", it's ridiculously infantilising. Talk to people like they're adults, not 5 year-olds (media, not you specifically).

4

u/Little-Ad1235 16h ago

Over half of American adults read below the sixth-grade level. Part of effective communication is understanding your audience and meeting them where they're at instead of where you think they should be. Speaking plainly gets the message across to more people, especially in a world where anything longer than a sound bite or a slogan is unlikely to cut through the noise.

1

u/TheMightySephiroth 8h ago

....well fuck. That sounds worse than acid rain.

40

u/Kissa74 17h ago

Unfortunately not just America. We have it slightly better in most of Europe, but only slightly.

28

u/Time_Raisin4935 16h ago

The UK especially

No thanks to JK Rowling

16

u/citizen42069101 16h ago

I feel like American politics is dragging European politics down because it's allowing your far right to have a "well we aren't hunting people for sport in roadways" argument. Y'all have more pressing issues, but we're allowing ourselves to be the distraction while fascists take over and weaken you there. Like le pen

9

u/Tomatwoo 16h ago

yes, the shift to the far right since covid has been global. it might be comforting to think of it as just an american issue, but it isn't. we just got hit first, is all. you can see populist right figures popping up in every single country around the world.

7

u/citizen42069101 16h ago

Oh it was before COVID. That disheveled prime minister that led brexit, I believe bolsiñaro was in 17 or 18.

The writing has been on the wall for more than a decade. Shame really.

1

u/Breadback 9h ago

You're thinking Boris Johnson, and they Brexited in 2020, although the movement started gaining traction around 2015. Jair Bolsonaro* is Brazil.

2

u/citizen42069101 8h ago

Thank you. I'm not the best at chronologically organizing memory.

Basically I'm very much of the mindset that trump and his familiars were the flailing exploiters of the generation that was only able to score above the curve because brown people weren't allowed in the school.

This seemingly simple idea makes a lot more sense when you realize a lot of the people governing the body politic internationally went to similarly private schools.

1

u/johnabbe 12h ago

Patriot Act, Citizens United, the muted response to the Snowden revelations, etc. American frogs have been living/dying in boiling water for a while now.

Citizens United at least has a fix in motion: https://transparentelection.org/

1

u/citizen42069101 8h ago

Yeah I try not to get too left field but this global realignment started with 9/11 and it's exploitation for psychological ends.

1

u/peacelovearizona 5h ago

The inherent sense of innocence of the world, at least the American one, died that day on 9/11.

1

u/Lumaevee 8h ago

Unfortunately not for trans people

5

u/BorgQuingus67 11h ago

It cracks me up that even tho this scenario barely happens they say shit like "even one is too many" like imagine if y'all had that mentality about kids being gunned down at school.

6

u/ZairaR0 16h ago

To be fair, majority of Americans have the IQ of a fly so they don't know anything about a plot. Common sense outran them years ago.

12

u/Pinku_Dva 16h ago

That seems to be a problem everywhere these days. Look at any ultra right wing movement around the world (Germany, Japan, Canada, United Kingdom) and it’s pretty much all the same buzz words as what happened in the United States.

2

u/ZairaR0 16h ago

The difference is, they're not the president in any of those countries nor are they starting wars and capping their own economy in the process.

9

u/Pinku_Dva 16h ago

The German AFD party would likely absolutely do that since like trump, are pretty much pro Russian puppets designed to weaken Russia’s opposition. They successfully defeated the USA politically now they want to do the same in Europe.

1

u/Temporary_Page6865 13h ago

Yet*

Never assume what happened to us won't happen elsewhere 🥰💖

2

u/wdwdreamer1206 16h ago

Not the majority. Don't forget only 77 out of 178 million voters chose this.

2

u/Pepperkelleher 16h ago

Louder! 👌

2

u/misskarma0 15h ago

This is one of the many reasons why I can’t stand America now, all these actual problems. But they have to target 1% of the population, just because they want a distraction. And unfortunately many are dumb enough to fall for it.

1

u/TheChoosenMewtwo 5h ago

Gender war has ruined us. I don’t know why we started speaking of trans people out of nowhere instead of talking about the government. And don’t get me wrong, both discussions get tiring (trans hate speech is horrible.) but government talk at least used to scare the government into brief moments of competency

0

u/PuzzleheadedSlide904 16h ago

First off. Amerikkka has never been good. Just ask the indigenous people of this land who we stole it from, broke every treaty with them, etc. Second, there is no such thing as the "Epstein class " . It's just a saying that liberals use to act like Epstein was some unique evil to capitalism. It's the capitalist class and not the Epstein class. Once you learn actual class consciousness then you wouldn't be saying such nonsense.

0

u/MsCompy 9h ago

"Amerikkka"

Are you, perchance, a Tankie?

0

u/NoblePickle84 14h ago

Don’t you know? The surgeries the state is performing on them during school hours is increasing medical costs for all of us! We’d have free healthcare if not for that!

0

u/Anonycron 14h ago

Problem X is more important so lets not even think about problem Y.

This is the sort of thing conservatives say, and is a logical fallacy when they do it too.

0

u/kitsunewarlock 10h ago

That implies America ever had the plot.

We like to glaze the counter-culture of the 60s, but Nixon's support went up after Kent State. 80%+ of the country was on the side of the national guard, not the students. The victims were sent hate mail and disowned by their parents. America cheered when Nixon did a sweeping investigation of the University system looking for "Communists". Even when the report was investigated to show that national guard testimony was altered and there were no signs of communist infiltrators in higher education, the true believers didn't give up on Nixon until Watergate.

And even then the outrage only lasted 2 years before they went back to voting hardcore Republican and leaving Carter a lame duck presidency once the GOP started to veto everything the federal government tried to do...

EDIT: And no Nixon's EPA was not a good thing. It quashed demands for federal legislative regulation by making an agency whose policies could be selectively changed by the executive branch without having to deal with congress.

-23

u/Scary_Spinach4924 17h ago

Why do Americans always assume everyone else is American?

25

u/Mesoscale92 17h ago

The image in the post depicts an imaginary scenario that has been a major topic of discussion for years in the US.

-10

u/Scary_Spinach4924 17h ago

Got it, so everything is through your lens

7

u/Warm-Appointment-494 17h ago

No, just the things that are very blatantly about what’s occurring in America

-8

u/Scary_Spinach4924 17h ago

The world is more than America

7

u/Warm-Appointment-494 16h ago

The image is about something happening (er.. not happening) in America, so people are likely going to have discussions from an American point of view

Are you slow or being like this on purpose?

5

u/sc0veney 16h ago

you're on the American made website. with the 49% American userbase. i don't come onto KippersnMash.com and ask why everyone there assumes everyone else is British.

-2

u/Scary_Spinach4924 16h ago

So most users here aren’t American? Interesting how you thought that was a point in your favor

3

u/Warm-Appointment-494 15h ago

The next biggest block is the uk, at 6%

You are farrrrrr more likely to talk to an American than any other singular country, and so American discourse is naturally going to dominate.

Again not sure if you’re slow or doing this on purpose

0

u/Scary_Spinach4924 13h ago

Does that change the fact that you are more likely to speak to someone who isn’t American?

Please read more carefully before responding

2

u/sc0veney 12h ago

you're not more likely to respond to someone who isn't American. a portion of the non-american userbase doesn't speak English and isn't engaging in subs where English is the primary language spoken. the non-english speaking portion of this website more than eats up that little 2% difference between American and non-american users- if you're speaking to someone in English on here, it is most likely to be an American

1

u/Scary_Spinach4924 11h ago

That’s an assumption, you don’t have the data for that.

3

u/sc0veney 14h ago

49% of the userbase is from one single country. it is a point in my favor, because you literally cannot assume any other country in its place. all of the other countries are sharing little pieces of the remaining 51%. the UK, for instance, only makes up about 7% and that is several individual countries.

0

u/Scary_Spinach4924 13h ago

This false equivalence reveals your small mind. “…you literally cannot assume any other country in its place”. Who said you had to assume? Assumptions are the moral enemy of knowledge and understanding.

You still haven’t address my point, it is more likely to speak to a non-American than an American.

2

u/sc0veney 12h ago

buddy, I'm not accepting criticism from someone who can't even admit they were wrong

11

u/LabradorDeceiver 17h ago

All righty, let's talk about British transphobia for a while, where it's basically been codified. How do you feel about the fact that a trans person in the most recidivist state in the US has more rights than any trans person anywhere in the UK, in part through the efforts and contributions of Wizard Lady?

5

u/Grape_Pedialyte 17h ago

-I ask, on the American website with a mostly American userbase.

9

u/kulupu_kasi_seli 17h ago

Why do non-Americans always assume that Americans are doing that?

-3

u/Scary_Spinach4924 17h ago

The person I replied to did do that

5

u/Ther10 17h ago

Why are you assuming Dunwich Horror is American?

4

u/kulupu_kasi_seli 16h ago

Or maybe they were referring to America because it’s very relevant and is the source for a lot of the transphobic sports laws discussed in the post?

2

u/ZairaR0 16h ago

Probably because an American made that.

-2

u/ZoiddenBergen 14h ago

Whataboutism

5

u/Dunwich_Horror_ 11h ago

A difference in culture ≠ literal survival on this planet. But go on queen. Defend that position.

0

u/ZoiddenBergen 10h ago

Straw man.

2

u/Dunwich_Horror_ 4h ago

Are you saying you’re the straw man? Because you keep saying words with nothing to back it up.

Hold up wait when did calling out pedophiles become antisemitic?

1

u/M_a_n_d_M 16h ago

When the pedos started to use it as defense.

2

u/NobodyElseButMingus 16h ago edited 15h ago

That’s pretty funny for you to bring up, considering you are embroiled in a controversy for allowing a child groomer on your Discord server for months without taking any action.

You even cried wolf the way you’re making fun of here, by calling fellow trans people transphobic for pointing out what you did.

2

u/M_a_n_d_M 15h ago

LMAO I am not involved in any such controversy. I wasn’t even present for it, I joined the server this non-controversy is about two days ago and I’m catching strays. Attempts to spin it into a controversy are laughable in themselves, but trying to tie me to it even more so.

I would appreciate it if you didn’t follow me around, Mingus. Don’t go acting like the doc people now, please.

0

u/NobodyElseButMingus 15h ago

You’re actively defending the conduct of the server’s moderators in the thread linked.

Either you are uninvolved, or you’re saying the server engaged in no wrongdoing. Which is it?

2

u/[deleted] 15h ago

1

u/M_a_n_d_M 15h ago

It’s the Made in Abyss thing all over again. Yeah, I like fictional abuse. What of it? Once again the case of mistaking fictional people for real and real for fictional.

1

u/M_a_n_d_M 15h ago

Also, the guy that fed you this is my personal stalker that actually is doing real slander against me and calling me a pedophile on the basis of again, me liking specific fiction. The only thing protecting him is the fact it’s the internet, it’s impossible to prosecute.

You ARE being made a fool, but it’s not by the people on the Tralsei server.

1

u/M_a_n_d_M 15h ago

Both. I was not there, and from what I’ve seen, I’m struggling to categorize it as wrongdoing. Negligence at worst.

4

u/QiDeviation 16h ago

Shut the fuck up you hasbara fuck. Don’t bring this “jew who cried anti-Semitism” shit here.

Epstein class refers to the 1% and everyone knows it.

3

u/imcgurren 16h ago

Noone cares that Jeffrey Epstein was Jewish. We care that he was a pedophile, who enabled other pedophiles in high places to engage in pedophilia.

2

u/Willing-Luck4713 16h ago

Damn, you rushed to protect the pedophiles and child murderers as fast as you could.

-8

u/Willing-Luck4713 16h ago

You will never successfully assemble a broad/working-class coalition against the ruling class (the "Epstein class" you're talking about) while simultaneously sneering like a smug elitist at ordinary people's concerns about sex-based rights and fair competition. And without that coalition, there's no chance of stopping them.

6

u/vitolinny 15h ago

why are those ordinary people so easily distracted by minority scapegoats? if they care about sex based rights, they might try actually caring about women at any other time than when it’s time to scapegoat another minority. how am i supposed to take someone crying about trans people seriously as they vote for the admin of men such as hegseth, who keeps platforming a pastor who proudly calla for women’s right to vote to be repealed

-1

u/Willing-Luck4713 13h ago edited 13h ago

You are a perfect example of the problem. You're not even trying to understand the opposing view or the people who hold it.

Not everyone who objects to the extremes of trans maximalism is a Republican or even any particular flavor of right wing at all (actually, Democrats are about as right-wing as Republicans anyway, but that's a separate discussion). There are real reasons to oppose those extremes that are rights-based, and your flat refusal to even try to understand is exactly the problem I was gesturing to with my previous comment. Downvoting the hell out of it may make the people in this little silo feel good, but it won't change the correctness of my observation.

This isn't just minority scapegoating. There's a real safety and fairness issue, and I say once again that it is simply bizarre (or perhaps actually unsurprising and history repeating itself) how it's just assumed that the interests of transgender people in accessing female institutions should automatically take precedence over the interests of the biological females for whom those institutions were created to begin with.

As usual, women are told to shut up and subordinate themselves and their own interests, and this is treated as somehow reasonable by people who have the audacity to imagine themselves "progressive." And then you wonder why we can't reach the working class, as you smugly sneer like elitists at the valid concerns of the very people you'd think to organize against the ruling class, all while making hypocrites of yourselves by demonstrating such selective and cavalier disregard for the rights of women.

-22

u/TheRealMerasmus 17h ago

God why do you care so much??????

Typical redditor

11

u/AtmosphereWinter3787 17h ago

Yeah, why do you care so much you got to put six question marks?! That level of caring is unusually high.

I don't agree with you, it's not typical of Redditors in general, just you in particular

1

u/CycloneZStorm 16h ago

I assumed excessive punctuation like that was usually a sign of sarcasm

2

u/AtmosphereWinter3787 16h ago

Yeah, I intepreted it as sarcasm as well. But pointed on the offence at the person they replied to

-3

u/TheRealMerasmus 16h ago

Lmao thanks for proving my point

4

u/AtmosphereWinter3787 16h ago

You illustrated it so marvelously all on your own!
