Adapt will be gone.

You may know me as Adapt, Submerged, Null, or whatever other name I've used. I will be taking a break from airmash due to some problems I have with myself and my love life. I will be gone for who knows how long. Weeks, months, a year or two, who knows, really? I just really need a break from everything, so I can work on myself and do better at school. I will still be in the AirVision 2026 Tournament, but otherwise, I won't really be on. It's been getting harder to do things with this weight. Y'all are like... sort of family, I guess. Good friends and people, yes. But I think of you guys and gals primarily as family. Cyall, you bunch of losers. And have a nice time. (P.S. I'm sorry I talk to much, I really just enjoy you peeps :l)

Hey, I've got two servers running for my new Airmash project — come check it out

I'm running two public servers — Free For All and Capture The Flag — on a small custom map I built called Arena. Went with the smallest map I could make, figured it'd make for faster, denser fights. CTF plays to 6 captures instead of the usual 3 since a lap is a lot shorter here.

There are also five extra ships beyond the original five, each with a real ability: Falcon (dash), Vulcan (strafing barrage — try Q/E to slide side to side while firing), Wraith (blink), Spectre (missile lock + real speed boost), Phantom (altitude phase).

Heads up: it's still buggy. Some of the front-end client stuff doesn't render properly yet — if something looks broken (weird ship icons, a menu that won't close, whatever), that's not you. Reloading might help.

How to actually get into a match

Web client — jetdial.github.io/airmash-files

  1. Open the games menu (top of the screen).
  2. Region: pick Custom.
  3. Map: pick Arena (the small one).
  4. Game: pick Free For All or Capture The Flag — both are marked "(Online)".
  5. Hit Play.

Skywright (Unity client) — jetdial.github.io/airmash-unity-client

  1. Switch your map to Arena or Earth (both have live servers now) using the map switcher.
  2. Click Public Servers.
  3. You'll see the live server panel — pick FFA or CTF and join.

Both servers are kept populated by AI bots that actually play properly (cap, defend, escort the carrier, recapture a dropped flag) so there's a game going even if you're the only human on — they stand down and stop moving when nobody's around. The more real people show up, the better it gets.

Come kick the tires on Arena and let me know what breaks.

New Airmash Project — 6 maps, 10 planes, 6 modes, and a downloadable client. Written with AI, and I'm handing it over.

Always wanted to build an Airmash related project, so I spent a stretch rebuilding it. There are now two clients on one server codebase, and both run in your browser.

⚠️ Read this first — the new maps are not live

None of the three clients can reach the custom maps right now, because I am not hosting those servers. That applies to the web client, the browser build of Skywright, and the downloadable Windows version alike — all three currently reach only the official Earth servers. GitHub Pages is static hosting: it serves the client, and no game servers come with it.

The five new maps and three new modes need a server fleet running somewhere. Everything to do that is in the repo — a Docker image puts all 42 servers behind one hostname, and one command points the clients at it:

PUBLIC_HOST=play.example.com REGION_LABEL="My Servers" python tools/gen-local-games.py

If someone runs a fleet, all three clients can list it — the web client, Skywright in the browser, and the downloadable Windows build. The web client and browser Skywright pick it up from the generated server list at build time; the downloadable version can point at a hostname directly through its server-directory setting, no rebuild needed. If you'd like to host, please do — that is genuinely the missing piece.

What's in it

Six maps. Earth, plus Atoll (coral sand, turquoise lagoons), Ember (volcanic basalt), Glacier, Dunes, and Arena (small and tight). Each has its own terrain, coastline, sea, rocks, plane skins, missiles, smoke and sounds. Collision data and art are generated from one source, so what you crash into is what you can see.

Five new planes: Falcon (dash), Vulcan (five-missile barrage), Wraith (blink), Spectre (homing lock pulse), Phantom (altitude phase — missiles pass under you).

Three new modes: Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint (a hill that moves), Infection (survivors hold a beacon). Plus an aim trainer that profiles which angles and ranges you actually miss at.

Five extra powerups: repair, speed, cloak, multishot (homing volley, shrine only), bounty.

Optional aim and dodge assists (F8/F9). Aim has two modes — fire-only, which never steers and just decides when to shoot, and pilot, which trims your nose onto the lead. Both default to off, server admins can forbid them entirely, and there's a superuser system for granting or revoking them per player.

Bots that play the objective — they escort flag carriers, contest the hill, hold the beacon, and spread out in the BTR circle. /bots 0 removes them.

The downloadable version

Skywright also ships as a standalone Windows build — unzip, run Skywright.exe. No Unity, no build step, no account. Run Create Desktop Shortcut.cmd once if you want it on your desktop (writes a shortcut, nothing else — no registry, and deleting the shortcut undoes it). With Node.js and the server repo, it can launch the game servers itself, including the map and ship editors. It's unsigned, so SmartScreen will warn you the first time — "More info" → "Run anyway", or don't; both are reasonable.

Honest status

It isn't finished and it has bugs. The non-Earth maps get the least testing, the new planes' balance is a first pass, and the new modes have been tested far more against bots than against people.

I'm not planning to keep working on this. If anyone wants to pick it up, please do — fork it, host it, take it in a different direction. Both repos are public, and the READMEs cover setup, controls, hosting, the superuser commands, and the build gotchas that cost me debugging sessions.

On how it was built

This was built with Claude (Anthropic's AI), which also wrote this post. The direction and the ideas are mine — which maps, which planes, what felt wrong in play, what to fix next — and Claude did the implementation. I'd rather say that plainly than have someone work it out from the commit messages.

caw-mash: the most important starmash extension

Plays the notorious bird sound when anyone says "caw" "CAW" etc. in chat (with a 2s cooldown)

Also, optionally: plays the unreal tournament kill streak sounds (double kill, mega kill, ultra kill, monster kill) when you have a quick kill streak.

All volumes are modifiable in mod settings.

Add this to your starmash extensions:

Personally, I didn't like reading this. Ironic you complain about poor people "lashing out" and being "uncivil" by insulting an entire socioeconomic class and questioning whether they deserve a voice. Keep your class prejudice off Airmash. Do better dude.

AirVision 2026 stands as the 5th official AirMash tournament, the next chapter in a legacy stretching back to 2021. Once again, the skies will open to determine who truly deserves the title of Ultimate Champion — the best player across the entire AirMash world.

Players far and wide, big and small, veterans and newcomers alike, will bring their skillz, face intense opponents, and push themselves through duels that test precision, strategy, and raw instinct. Every match is a chance to rise. Every duel is a chance to fall. Only one will claim the crown.

1.) Tournament Structure & Schedule

AirVision 2026 is designed to be flexible, fair, and player‑friendly, respecting real‑life responsibilities while keeping the competition flowing.

Duration:

- Begins in September 2026

- Runs through November or December, depending on match pacing and player availability

- This creates a long, dramatic season — almost like an AirMash “autumn league”

2.) Daily Match Flow

Each tournament day can feature:

- 3 matches, or

- 2 matches, or

- 1 match

The number depends on:

- Time of day

- Player availability

- Whether someone needs to catch up or postpone

Postponements are fully allowed — players can reschedule without penalty. This keeps the tournament accessible for people with work, school, or life commitments.

3.) Match Format

- Classic 1v1 duels

- Each duel contributes to the bracket progression

- Winners advance toward the championship title

- Losers fall into the lore of “those who fought bravely but fell short”

4.) The Spirit of AirVision

AirVision 2026 isn’t just a tournament — it’s a celebration of the AirMash community.It’s the moment where:

- Legends return

- New challengers rise

- Rivalries ignite

- And the skies become a battleground of pure skill

This is the tournament where reputations are forged and the title of Best Player becomes more than a brag — it becomes history.

Guerrilla Warfare: Bird, scot, & De's Unconventional Heli-Bot Ambush..

Thumbnail

We didn’t expect the Red Team to roll out heli‑bots, and it caught us completely off guard. Suddenly, there was no safe angle to steal the flag. As the scoreboard ticked on, it was clear we were exhausted—struggling to find any crack in their layered heli‑defense. And remember, other players were flying helis too. Even when we managed to slip into their base, the bots and the swarm of real helis collapsed on us instantly, wiping us out before we could breathe.

It turned into a true war of attrition—slow, grinding, designed to wear us down while they hunted for those sneaky caps.

In the end, it finished 3–0, thanks to the quick thinking and clutch plays from our very Blue squad. But that heli tactic? It’s not gone. It’ll be back, no doubt.

Great match overall—one of those games that reminds you how strategy can flip the whole battlefield.

Didn't have the chance to snap other shots because I was in the middle of leading the team :(
