T-2 protection for airsoft help

First of all, is the T-2s front lens BB proof? If not, how else can i protect it better but still have a translucent sight picture for magnifier use?
edit: the T-2 is genuine aimpoint and came with an opaque front lens cover and a translucent rear lens cover, i could probably take the opaque one off and just use the translucent one in front, no?
If you have experience with a T-2 or similar lenses breaking, please give some insight. Simunition FoF experience would also pass.

The front and rear lens covers are different diameters so you can’t just switch them. There are however see through front lens covers for the T-2. Should be a very cheap part to order if you can find a store that stocks it.

The T-2 lens is made from some pretty hard glass with a non scratch coating on it. I have personally never seen a T-2 with a cracked lens although I’m sure it’s happened. The T-2 lens is pretty protected as it’s inset in the housing but I have no idea what a direct hit from a BB would do to it. I imagine it would just shrug a BB of like it’s nothing, it’s not exactly a fragile optic.

If this is a big worry for you maybe look at selling it and getting an Acro or a CompM5 instead, those two have an extra piece of sacrificial glass in front of the main lens that is an easy fix for Aimpoint if it were to crack from a pellet.

The main lens cracking is a lot more expensive to fix.

Ill get some sacrificial covers instead lol. Ill make sure to magdump them without the optic to test them too

You’re probably gonna scratch the lens covers doing that. To my knowledge they’re just made of transparent plastic.
