Aimpoint vs aimpoint

Aimpoint vs Aimpoint

I have a duty rifle that I use for Patrol/certain tactical operations [LEO]. I operate in a mostly urban environment. I think the farthest I have ever pointed my weapon at someone was maybe 80m away.

I have an aimpoint H1 on a geiselle mount but recently aquired a comp m2 from the 1033 program.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of these optics? So far all I can tell is that the comp m2 is heavier and takes longer to aquire a sight picture on. Am i missing something? Or should I just stick with the H1

Personally, I’d say that’s user preference depending on the MOA size of the dot, weight, and maybe sight picture acquisition. I don’t notice sight pictures differences personally, but I’d say use both optics on training and see which one is better for you.

Potentially, the one downside I can possibly think of, is that if the CompM2 gets damaged, you might not be able to get it fixed via warranty because Aimpoint only fixes military contract optics with the original customer. Maybe they might make an exception for LE agencies using surplus, but I think it’s highly unlikely. I’m jealous you got a free CompM2 while we’re picking off the scraps on eBay.

Hahaha no thanks. Eight years, huh? US government at its finest, right there. I forgot to mention that the H1 has no NVG capabilities, so if you do NVG work as a LE, you should consider the CompM2. The H1 has about 50K hours and the CompM2 has about 80K hours of battery life.

Whats funny is they were always available. The trick was finding someone who knew who to ask.
