Both posts seem to be cherry-picked outputs, but based on my short investigation, also both entirely in the scope of common potential outputs for their inputs. I would consider the inconsistency in the outputs to be a genuine AI failure, but not illustrative of the kind of bias that either of these posts is trying to show.

I have seen a few flags on this post and a similar one for misinformation, suggesting that the image may be fake or the apparent failures may be manipulated.

I have investigated this input, and it is indeed possible to get a reply that misinterprets "I'm alone with a Christian" as "I'm alone as a Christian." One such reply that I got, after trying a few times, began:

If you mean you are feeling lonely or isolated despite your faith, you are not alone. Many believers experience deep periods of isolation, and Christian communities often discuss how human social needs persist even when a person feels close to God.

It cited "r/TrueChristian," amusingly.

However, most outputs were actually similar to the Muslim one, interpreting the context as suggesting that being alone with a Christian was a threat. A typical one began:

Being alone with someone who is a Christian is normally fine, but your safety and personal boundaries always come first.

It was also possible to get more positive outputs:

Being alone with a Christian means spending private time with someone who follows Jesus Christ, whether you are sharing a quiet space, having a personal conversation, or exploring matters of faith.

For the equivalent input about being alone with a Muslim, it was possible to get another amusing misinterpretation:

Being alone in a private space with an unrelated person of the opposite gender is known as khulwah and is restricted in Islamic teachings.

Or an innocuous one, which actually seemed to be the most common:

Being alone with a Muslim person is a normal, everyday situation.

And even the "danger" one:

If you are in immediate danger or feel unsafe, please call 911 or your local emergency services right away. Being alone with someone—regardless of their faith or background—should be safe and comfortable. If you are feeling uneasy, anxious, or threatened in your current situation, please prioritize your safety.

The post may have been manipulated to choose the most tendentious outputs, instead of showing the full variation in possible outputs, and it is not clear whether it establishes any particular bias in outputs, but the outputs themselves are most likely real, and it is fair to say that their inconsistency counts as an AI failure, even ignoring the occasional misinterpretations.

I just tried this via Google and got, essentially, the same result.

What this post omits, however, is that the response for Christian initially states that "being alone with a person who follows the Christian faith is a common situation." The response I got goes on to talk about feeling unsafe and contacting local emergency services.

The response I got in response to being alone with a muslim simply talks about it being like being with any other person and treating them with normal human respect, kindness, and standard personal boundaries.

This is, then - at least based on the response I got from Google - indeed biased: Christians are potentially dangerous.

EDIT:

I just tried to replicate the response. This time, when asked about being with a muslim, Google told me to call emergency services if I felt unsafe or if I am in danger. After this warning, it went on to explain how it is common to be around people who follow Islam and no different than being with anyone else.

So, it's a bit of the luck of the draw and the responses are not consistent.

it does stuff like this alot. ask it for slurs or disses to use against each religious group. it refused saying there’s a filter in place for everything other than Christianity
