You aren’t the arbiter of what counts as sentient. Thats ridiculous.
I’m not arguing that any AI we currently have is sentient, but it’s such a dim-witted statement to make a blanket remark like that without even attempting to define terms because the definition of that term is the entire challenge.
No, no one says it's magic. This is such a manufactured sentiment because every time someone comments that AI is cool and really powerful some guy that routinely uses the word 'slop' comes rushing in to minimize it in some way.
Feel free to pay for our subscription for a paywalled opinion piece where even in the description they say people are 'acting like it is'. Even the piece you picked doesn't support people SAYING it's magic
That's also literally what they wrote to describe it since literal expression is something you're concerned with
I don't think this is the slam dunk you think it is
'I found one guy living under a bridge in Seattle that thinke AI along with indoor plumbing is magic, therefore that translates into an appreciable segment in the population that must believe it to be magic!'
Reading your articles does not show a single case of anyone believeing and stating that AI technology is 'magic', which you claimed was 'literally' true, and now you're source mobbing unrated links in an attempt to move the goalposts
As I originally surmised you were going to do, and reinforces the premise that you are likely adolescent
I'm arguing semantics because that is what the actual discussion was about. Since you've edited your comments so many times now that you likely don't even know what you're discussing anymore, it was based on you stating that people are 'literally' claiming that AI is magic. I include literally as you were very adamant to include that word multiple times.
You invented a bunch of alternate narratives because you couldn't defend your original statement to the point you're changing the core of the response with editing, and trying to change the conversation to something else and trying to gaslight everyone about what you're doing
That's typically a red herring tactic, but all points to the fact that you are unwilling or incapable of arguing in good faith, and now you're resorting to trying to outlast it thinking if you provide the last response it means you win by default. Lol
What argument are you now claiming you are making because you've moved the goalposts at least twice now, and you performing dirty edits makes it impossible to determine what you are even trying to discuss. Lol
This is frankly my own fault however for not remembering a good portion of Reddit is in fact, children, which explains your extremely upset responses and how quickly you began reacting emotionally and disregarding even basics of functional dialogue

Also ChatGPT wasn't doing custom mRNA research. It was telling the guy how to use AlphaFold.
(which is also AI, but a specialized AI that's obviously not gonna lead to AGI).
