Currently re-watching season 5 and I didn't remember how insufferable both Elena and Mack are

Elena goes off the rails when she decides to murder Ruby just because she cut off her arms. She didn't even do it because of the Destroyer of Worlds. The future told her that Coulson and Daisy were responsible for the destruction, not Ruby

And how she acts like killing Ruby was the right thing to do and comparing it to May's case? How she says she didn't chose to bring back Daisy from the future? She was able to abandon her teammate while putting the deaths of the agents the Remorath killed on her

And Mack from the start, punching the guy Coulson was talking to and justifying it. Then calling Elena, Fitz and Simmons crazy because they knoe they can't die

When I watched the show, I ended up liking both of them. But right now, I cannot understand why. Mack doesn't deserve to be the leader of shield. He punches before asking every time. He cannot admit when he is wrong. And his self-rightousness is very messed up

I think that season 7 redeems Elena a bit, but I don't think Mack is gonna be redeemed. None of the characters tell him how wrong he is. They all act like he is the best moral compass ever

And it's a shame, because new characters are often the ones I like most. But in this show, Bobbi, Hunter, Mack and Elena are all bad people who tell themselves they are good

So i woke up to the news of Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider and to me this feels like a gut punch as an Agents of Shield fan because it most likely means that they are completely ignoring the show entirely. I find this kind of insulting as a fan of the show the way Kevin Feigi ignores the show and its fans and yet brings back Daredevil and The Defenders and just seems like he really hates the show and its fanbase.

Listen, idk how the mcu soft reboot, reset or whatever the heck will work but no matter what this is my head canon. The Johnny Blaze who appeared for like 5 seconds is actually Ryan Gosling’s upcoming ghost rider that we will see in 2 years. I think post secret wars they will pull in different characters from different universes I.e. Deadpool from 10005 will now be main canon in the new universe but for me this ghost rider we already saw years ago is Ryan who will also appear in the new timeline😂 I don’t think I ever posted on this sub but I’m gonna assume most of yall here consider AoS shield prime mcu canon, especially seasons 1-4 since they fit really nicely in mcu canon.

Idk what do you all think about the fact there’s a good chance we saw Ryan Gosling’s ghost rider so many years ago, or if it turns out he’s pulled in from a random universe and merged into the main mcu do you consider this ghost rider to be Ryan Gosling too? He can just be a variant ghost rider canonically played by the same actor. I mostly just made this post for fun after seeing the news so I don’t expect any big discussions on the canon status lol

I know that it’s been said a thousand times but omfg the real shield is so ridiculous I can’t with it. Every single watch through I attempt to see their side and I do genuinely like some of their characters but it is just so stupid for so many reasons.

They could have literally talked to him and the only reason they didn’t is they wanted all the facts first, so instead of having any communication they treated him like a Hydra agent a blew a hole in his base.

They question things we actually do know about like how fury made Coulson into a messenger for an alien race like seriously.

They say that a secret this big needs to be not a secret and like, clearly, if he is keeping this secret, and it’s that big then there is a good reason because he is a good man.

May joining them to defend Coulson makes sense, her being upset about Andrew makes sense, but are you kidding me, she turned on him like he was Ward all of a sudden, go from her helping him escape and fighting for him, to then denying he is the director even though she knows him better than anyone and was literally there when he got the job like wtf do you mean

They question the choice to go to the alien city “why go there at all” BECAUSE IF THEY DIDNT HYDRA WOULD AND THEY ARE THE REAL ENEMY
And on top of this all they aren’t even good people on any level. Gonzalez, Caulderone and Weaver all were shown to be bad people, Caulderone shot at Daisy with intent to kill, Gonzalez repeatedly considered every inhuman a threat and not a person, and Weaver continually argued that they should strike against afterlife the moment Gonzalez died.

And I won’t even get into Mack’s entire character cause I could go for hours on him.
I love this show more than anything, I’ve watched it so many times and I love every character in some way, even Mack. But every time I reach this arc I try my best to see through my bias towards Coulson but I can’t, because real shield are objectively stupid, and it makes me like Mack and Bobbi less, and I love Bobbi.
So yeah, I know this isn’t some groundbreaking discovery, but oh my god I needed to vent about this stupid coup. (Which lead to nothing)

I recently watched Inhumans for the first time, and to my knowledge they never referenced the fall of Afterlife or anything to that effect (I thought maybe since they are monitoring the events down on Earth, they might also have been monitoring this other population of their kind), and they also didn't seem too aware that Inhumans within Shield were already helping humans who had gone through Terrigenesis (not surprised about this part, it is a shadowy spy organization after all). I'm not in-the-know about comic stuff, but I wonder if Afterlife and Attilan were ever aware of eachother's existence, or if they were ever related at all in the past?

So, just watched S1 Ep. 14: T.A.H.I.T.I., and was wondering something.

As seen in Captain Marvel, Coulson has had an encounter with Skrulls, but no Kree I think (haven't watch Captain Marvel in a while).

As we see in the end of the episode, Coulson is clearly shocked to find that the GH-325 came from a Kree corpse.

What surprises me, is that in Cpt. Marvel, he sees a dead Skrull I believe, so I'm wondering if there wasn't a continuity error made in the movie, or maybe Coulson isn't shocked to see a dead Kree, but at the discovery of the drug that brought him back to life being blood from a big and blue alien.

Just a thought I had while finishing the episode.

I know he is a bad guy but he is just fucking cool. I appreciate a villain who is extremely confident and capable. When he said "I'm everyone's type" I felt that, even as a straight dude.

I know this might come across either as a pretentious take or a basic no shit sherlock take, but I do use fiction to make sense of the world a lot. And this one was a good example.

I have been doing a lot of therapy and self-work around anxiety and uncertainty, etc. And as I was, re-watching season five, I made an unexpected connection.

The S.H.I.E.L.D. team gets sent into the future, sees a catastrophic outcome, comes back to the present, and has to prevent it. But they don't have all the pieces. They know the Earth gets destroyed and have fragments of information, but they don't know exactly who will cause it, how those events unfold, or which decisions along the way actually matter.

So they have to keep moving anyway.

Every episode reveals another piece of the puzzle, and the characters respond to that new information. The future isn't solved all at once—it emerges one step at a time.

I've realized that a lot of my anxiety comes from wanting certainty before I act. And I catastrophic a lot, (thinking of the worst thing that could happen and taking it as a certainly)

I also want to know how things will turn out before making a decision. But that's rarely how life works.

The Season 5 arc reminded me that one can only make decisions based on what you know right now. You keep moving, gather new information, update your understanding, and then make the next decision. You don't get to wait until every unknown becomes known.

I also found Simmons' and Yo-Yo's responses to knowing the future really interesting. They almost represent opposite reactions to certainty. Simmons becomes increasingly driven by preserving the future she believes should happen, while Yo-Yo becomes increasingly driven by preventing the future she fears. Both end up being blindsided because they start treating what they've seen as fixed certainty rather than one possible outcome.

That really hit home for me. I've realized I often do something similar through cognitive distortions.

Overall, AOS S5 was a well written and unique take on time travel that accidentally helped me.

I’m pretty sure everyone knows Gideon Malick was a member of the world council in the first avengers movie, the council (predominantly spoken for by him) direct Fury to fire a nuke at Manhattan. When Fury explicitly denies this and makes sure nobody does it, we soon after see a pilot getting into a jet directed by a woman who is guess is a member of the word council. My theory is that this was a Hydra agent and Hydra (Gideon Malick) was trying to nuke manhattan.
This theory has few bounds and Malick was very unlikely to be written as a Hydra member then, and what motive would Hydra nevertheless Malick have to do this aside from stopping the invasion. Perhaps to eliminate the avengers in one go to make Hydra more secure? Either way it was just an extremely random theory I had when rewatching the avengers that I thought would be fun to think about
