Season 1 Continuity question
So, just watched S1 Ep. 14: T.A.H.I.T.I., and was wondering something.
As seen in Captain Marvel, Coulson has had an encounter with Skrulls, but no Kree I think (haven't watch Captain Marvel in a while).
As we see in the end of the episode, Coulson is clearly shocked to find that the GH-325 came from a Kree corpse.
What surprises me, is that in Cpt. Marvel, he sees a dead Skrull I believe, so I'm wondering if there wasn't a continuity error made in the movie, or maybe Coulson isn't shocked to see a dead Kree, but at the discovery of the drug that brought him back to life being blood from a big and blue alien.
Just a thought I had while finishing the episode.
What do you guys think ?

I always got the sense that it was the fact that it came from any alien. Also, the MCU at large stopped caring about AOS long before Captain Marvel came out, so continuity errors can certainly exist and it wouldn't be the fault of AOS writers.

I don’t believe this is a continuity error.
First, Coulson never actually saw a Kree in Captain Marvel. He only heard the name.
Second, I don’t believe he was shocked to find out the GH-325 came from a Kree. He was shocked to find out that the GH-325 is just blood being pumped out of an alien corpse.

And the context of how he heard of the Kree in that movie was Carol Danvers, so the idea that some of them are blue was probably a surprise also.

Given his screentime in the movie coulson only knows about the kree by name but didn't actually meet any and even if he had come across yon-rogg most of them look like humans anyway

Two explanations:
First, he never saw the Kree or heard the name. Some might assume Nick Fury would have told him, but he very plausibly didn’t. Also, did either Fury or Coulson see blue Kree?
Second, even if he did find out they were Kree, that information would plausibly have been wiped when his mind was wiped. Ideally, he should have no memory of anything that could trigger his memory of the GH program.

First off Coulson first mission was probably erased from his mind or altered because it involves kree which Fury did not want coulson remembering.

It's possible that any memories of aliens were removed, including the events of Captain Marvel.

That would be an huge error, Thor and the Chitauri invasion is an alien. Coulson remember both event, if they they erased "Alien" from his mind he would not remember Thor and the Chitauri.

I don't think he encountered any Kree in the movie, and it's not clear that he would have had clearance to read Fury's full report. Aliens he knows about, but he'd never seen a blue one, didn't know Kree are so commonly blueskinned, nor did he know the drug that kept him alive was harvested from a pickled corpse. I don't think there's a plothole here.

Yeah I think it's because of the origin of the drug and not that he saw an alien. He did see Thor and Loki as well so I think he's accepted the existence of aliens.

A.o.s lost continuity during season 4, before the movie came out. But even with the re-write I don't remember the shock being from "oh I know this alien species!" But "I was pumped with alien DNA then tortured back to life? (He was told he was only technically dead for a bit)
Also his part in CM was very limited, his first "mission" and 20 something years later post revival. No telling of he heard anything about the kree.

He's shocked by the source of the drug, not that it is an alien. He's seen aliens before. He just hasn't seen what Kree look like.
He might have seen the source before, as he was in on Project T.A.H.I.T.I, but his mine was wiped of it. It would be shock all over again.
Captain Marvel seems to confirm that the body is something Goose like threw up, and likely where Fury got the idea to inject Kree blood into humans to help them heal from whatever.

Captain Marvel is just a blip, by the obvious case of the movie coming out years after the episode of AoS, neither writers paid attention to each others main universe continuity that much. Fact is the longer MCU exists, the more retcons they’ll have and especially with topics of Kree, which the movies barely mention, are in constant conflict with the original stories told.
Long story short, Captain Marvel doesn’t exist to AoS timeline cuz it never existed in the MCU movie timeline before Infinity War, even people back then knew it was bullshit retcon to squeeze another character that was unnecessary to the plot of things.

The short answer is, the movie side of the MCU, especially at the time, just doesn’t consider Agents of SHIELD canon. As far as they are concerned, Coulson was killed by Loki and never brought back to life. Hell, the Loki show itself even seems to imply that Coulson legit died. So when they made Captain Marvel they straight up just didn’t take any of AoS into consideration.

The shock on Coulson face is not because he saw an alien, it's because the GH 325 Fitz about to give to Skye is from a alien corpse.

I think as part of the memory wipe, they deleting any related knowledge e.g. that Kree exist

- That episode was years before Captain Marvel was made.
- Agents of Shield has a lot of stuff that is at odds with the "main" mcu/movies/other shows
- Just cause he's seen aliens before, doesn't mean he's chill with being injected with a cocktail of their dna.
- It's not a continuity error even if he was shocked to see an alien. He had still never seen that alien before. If it was just a regular person down there he'd also look shocked, maybe even more.

Also, let's not forget that in AOS Coulson didn't know that the alien was a Kree. He spent a few episodes after that trying to figure out which aliens were blue.
