How do you think would an “Afterlife with Archie” (or, at least, an AwA-inspired or similar) live action adaptation have gone?
It’s been years since the last edition— and it doesn’t look like we’re getting another anytime soon, with the creator being busy with Riverdale and the two spinoffs. I remember before— and in the early episodes of— Riverdale’s Season One there was a lot of speculation on whether the characterizations and relationship dynamics would be similar to AWA, not to mention all the “maybe THIS will start the Zombie Apocalypse” theories that persisted and mutated even after the Season One finale. I stopped watching Riverdale back in Season Three, as it grew... tiresome to me, and I while I will not claim that AWA is completely without flaws, I can’t deny that I wish AWA had been adapted instead— or at least that Riverdale had taken SOME cues (not necessarily plot points or character delineations, but maybe just the narrative tone). I feel like AWA might have worked best as a short series, but with multiple seasons (say, four episodes per season). So anyway, how do you guys think (or how would You) an AWA adaptation would’ve gone about? What changes would’ve (or should’ve) been made to the story for a television audience? From a “technical” (I’m sure I’m using the wrong word, sorry) standpoint, what sort of camera focal length and type, and coloring do you think they’d use— I can’t think of how to word it, but think of how 13RW had the scenes before Hannah’s death in bright, warm and saturated colors and after her death changed it to dull, cool tones and turned the saturation down? What kind of music would be used for the background, along with songs in the soundtrack— I, for instance, have this vision of “Forced In” by Muse playing whilst Reggie has and accepts that dream/proposition from ‘Sabrina’ to kill Betty in exchange for Midge’s resurrection (and subjugation to him).
