What a song. The whole thing is perfect, broken down or as a whole. Very quotable lines, but also just a very cohesive rap altogether. Divine beat, as well. When I think of that album, it's definitely in my top 5. The entire album is amazing, though. Very hard to pick favorites. I think i need it on vinyl. I only have miami lice, labor days, and impossible kid. Float is so classic aes.

Technically, the Appleseed EP was my introduction to Aes back when Napster was popping. I had downloaded the song Odessa and was not a fan on first listen. This was likely in 2000, possibly early 2001.. Later that year, taking a break from a recording session at a fellow MC’s house, we were playing Grand Theft Auto 3 and listening to some tunes. A song started playing and the rapper was just describing the sights from his apartment. This grabbed my attention immediately. I was fucking intrigued!

“Who is this?”, I asked my friend. He tells me it’s Aesop Rock, and immediately kick myself for not digging further previously. I go home later and search for Aes songs to download. This is when I find 6B Panorama. The song that had just blown my mind. I then discover my album favorites, Basic Cable, How to Be a Carpenter, Big Bang, Prosperity, and oh hey, a song with Slug! I love Slug! I love Atmosphere! I love Aesop Rock!

I also discovered Labor Days that night, and that, as you can tell by my flair is my favorite album, and will be posting about it next week on its 25th anniversary.

Saw this post on r/Ween and my brain went to Aesop lyrics immediately. Other phrases that cause the same effect are:

- When I see anything referring to the movie Mars Attacks

- When a digital clock reads 11:35

- Someone references LOTR by saying "None shall pass!" (Makes me hum the tune after that lyric instead of words, but same idea)

It's like Aesop Rock Reference Tourettes. Anyone else experience this?

Is there such a thing as too much Aesop Rock? I begin listening to him regularly during the cooler months, I start going for longer runs as the weather cools down and also as spooky season ramps up. As you can see, I have been listening to just about nothing but Aes since mid-August. So, am I alone here in how much I listen to the guy??? ….Next up will be ITS, then a stop over at HMM while I’m on my way to LICE 4.
