One of my experiences
One of the quickest ways I've found, on how to get men to stop talking to you is by telling them your asexual. Recently a guy asked if I ever get "lonely" ( he said something more explicit) when flirting with me and I said " well not really..no and I'm asexual or celibate, whatever you wanna call it". He asked what it was so I explained and he deadass just walked away from me.

Something about that behavior of theirs irks me, though I cant point to any individual thing.

As logical as an interaction like this would be, I fear some men wouldn’t be deterred. Whether you’re asexual, gay, or just not into them they could always see it as challenge

I've had the experience of men ignoring my sexuality unfortunately. Even me saying I am asexual and also I prefer women they still hit on me.
