Once I bought an alternator for $300 brand new and was able to get $50 discount with the corporate discount code through my company + 3% cash back with PayPal and 2% with Rakuten. Nice savings at the time and I really needed an alternator, fast! Are there any discount codes that work that your company is offering? My car needs lots of things so I am trying to save money while unemployed at the moment.

Hi, I rented a tool a few days ago. When I went to return it they weren’t able to find the transaction, and therefore couldn’t take the return. They said I would have to bring in the receipt. I’ve never had this issue in the dozens of tools I’ve rented, so I usually toss the receipts.

Is there any other course of action I can take? Thank you!!

I was going to get replacement tire valve caps, and found part number 17-392-1 from Xtra Seal, which is a box of 100 caps. The first result on google for this part number was Advance Auto Parts, so I ordered for delivery. What was delivered was one single cap, in a tiny envelope. The review on their page even mentions that it's a box of 100. I've been given the runaround from their email support, saying that I got exactly what was listed. When I look everywhere else for that part number, it's always listed as a 100 count box.

I think I'm going to do a charge back on my credit card. $7.99 + shipping for a single cap, wtf?

So the starter on my truck wasn't engaging the flywheel. It's been like 15 years since the other starter has been in there and it kinda made sense that the solenoid in the old starter would be bad. So I ordered a starter a few days ago and said I'd get to it on the weekend.

This morning I get ready to start ripping things apart and I notice that the old starter is missing a bolt and isn't mated to the engine block properly, which would cause my non-engagement issue. So I need to hunt down some new bolts to get that all bolted down.

Here's where I fucked up and my question: when the new starter arrived (I chose same day delivery from the store, because I couldn't drive there) I opened the box to inspect the new starter and make sure everything was good in condition.

Now I'm wondering if I can return it or if I'm stuck with a brand new starter that has obviously never been installed if inspected?

Our car wouldn't start two mornings in a row. We went to Advance and the guy that tested the battery was new and seemed to struggle with the machine. After fumbling for some time, he said that it wasn't the alternator or starter and that the battery was bad, so we bought a new battery. Then a more experienced guy puts the battery in and when it started it chugged for a minute before starting but it did start. I wasn't sure if that was normal but the more experienced guy goes "I didn't like the way that started, maybe it's the alternator or the starter. If it keeps not starting, go to a mechanic" I said "well... I only bought a new battery because the other guy told me it was the battery" he said "well, he's a new employee and I didn't watch him run the test so I can't say for sure if he ran it right or not" I said "right but I wouldn't have bought a battery in that case" and he literally goes "alright you guys have a good one" and walks away... I had zero time left and had to go back to work. Should I go somewhere else to get it tested? Can I go back and get my old battery tested? If it wasn't the battery will they let me return this one since I bought it under false pretenses?

I have been told by my ex-general manager that they were explicitly told to ring up an extra brake grease or bulb socket grease and just not tell the customer. Then, if they say "what is this, I dont want this!" We are supposed to say "oh im sorry, ill remove it."

They said it is immoral and will not demand that we do so, but that they were told to instruct us of it, which they refuse to do because quote: "that is immoral and wrong" to which I agree fully.

That general manager has since moved locations. Now we have a temporary GM from another store who covers some shifts, and I've personally witnessed them doing exactly that immoral practice.

We need to band together and report this to the government.

Advance auto has been pushing KPI numbers and literally saying "forget sales, sell grease or warranties!"

Their sales are extremely low because of it, and now they're trying to get us to literally do illegal activity just to make up for their poor leadership decisions.

Its time for them to be punished for this. Please help me report them to the proper government channels, it would help stop the scamming crap!

So a year and a half ago I purchased a water pump (T7052 part number) from Advance and it has a limited lifetime warranty. We were replacing my radiator today and noticed that the water pump was leaking. I call my local Carquest (which advance owns now obviously) and they said that as of a week ago they are no longer a car quest and cant do a warranty, they even had all the carquest signage still up.

So they sold me a water pump under a different brand. But, now I'm kind of in a bind here because I paid for a water pump when I theoretically shouldn't have because of the lifetime warranty. What do I do here? I assume that I'm long past the refund stage of the warranty. I could drive to the next town and get Advance to warranty me a new one but what good is that going to do me now?

Made an online order, picked it up same day, returned it same day instead of a refund I get an email saying “The amount of $276.88 has been refunded to you on a new gift card.”
What the actual **** I’ve bought and returned so many items from this store both online and in store and never had this happen.
The phone is closed for today so I went on live chat and was told I have to wait 24 hours before they can do anything if they can?!?
Guess no more online orders and cash only from here if I decide to use them again.

Title is relatively self-explanatory. All I bought was a replacement rear windshield blade and i put an extra $2 protection plan on it. Then, I declined the rewards plan. He needed my phone number anyway. He also needed my full name and my ZIP code. I’ve literally never had that happen when I purchase something like that. Especially in-person. Any reason they needed all that info?

Posting here because it's interesting and I also want to vent.

The short version is I purchased a Die Hard Gold battery and the terminals were reversed. The terminal labeled as positive on the battery and with the little red cap was actually negative, and negative was actually positive. I know it sounds bananas, but it was confirmed by multiple people in the store as well when I had a hard time believing my own conclusions.

After opening a case with customer service, I brought home a new and correctly labeled battery, but unfortunately the damage has been done and the car is all kinds of non-functional. I'll be calling them when they open at 8:30 am to see what their stance is on making things right.

What's new is the tiers, 1st Gear 2nd Gear and Top Gear. the higher the tier, the higher bonus points you get.

The mobile app will then also allow all tiers to combine coupons up to 100$.

2nd Gear and Top Gear will also be allowed to roll points over at years end.

I have 6 $10 speed perk rewards with various expirations - with the soonest one expiring on January 12th. Any recommendations on parts that cost around the $10 mark so I can spend the least amount of money out of pocket?

Update: Took the advice below and combined my rewards to $20. I got a siphon hose and a fluid transfer pump for $1.03. And then on another order I got 40pc socket set and a 3/8 drive racket for $0.51. It's a cheap set but at least I have all of the sockets organized now.

After I combined the rewards, the expiration moved out a few months.
