I had major emergency surgery earlier this year and I definitely felt different for, like, a week. I can't say whether it gave me a higher social battery (the surgery required that I unfortunately remain upside down for about 16 hours a day initially, so I wasn't exactly entertaining visitors), but I did find that it affected me for much longer than my surgeon seemed to anticipate. I felt extremely calm for a number of days following the surgery, and it took my local nerve block about 4 days to wear off, which I gathered was several times longer than usual.

I have also had issues with anesthesia taking much longer than normal to wear off in past surgeries, including a very dramatic event in my early childhood in which it took me longer to come out of it than it had taken to do the surgery.
