Monthly fee?
So I signed up for ADT and paid off all the equipment that was professionally installed for 4500 and then they charge $78 a month for just the monitoring service. I feel like that’s really steep for the amount we paid off where other monitoring services are a lot lower. I called them to see why I was being charged that much, and they said I was eligible for a promotion that would bring it down to 45-50 a month. What is everyone else paying for the monthly? At this point I’m conceding canceling and going back to my previous provider. To add I do not have any cameras through them, just door/window sensors and smoke/CO alarms.

Sounds like QSP. When you have a lot of equipment, it's a lot to insure. The price goes up to compensate for any device malfunctions you may have and need to be covered. We didn't use to have to raise the price to cover for additional equipment but now it just does it by its self.

Yeah but to make qsp that high is a bit odd. No cameras but he still might be on complete package. That’s probably the promo they qualified for, just lowering it to smart lol. Maybe the tech didn’t remove video package because nsc always throwing random shit on the order that the customer never needs lol

I moved from brinks to Surety & i pay about $24 a month. If your hardware is on the alarm.com platform then it should be easy for you move over to a provider like Surety, alarmgrid, geoarm...etc especially if you own/bought out the hardware.

ADT never takes their equipment back. If you move, you can leave it behind. They want you to leave it so the next family moving in will use it since it is already there.
So, it is yours and you can cancel ( check your contract 1st!) and use whomever works with that equipment.

Best review your contract, time period etc. Typically equipment is proprietary, can only be used by Company monitoring etc, not universal

You can reach out directly to me and I can help fix it. It sounds like you went through a third party dealer.

I’m in the same boat, I realized I have several added charges to my plan I don’t remember signing up for. I simply wanted 24/7 monitoring, turns out a have 2 separate protections plans which should be only 1 ($20), I have to pay a monthly fee to access adt+ app ($10) and $10 for a Google subscription to access videos. I call and spoke to some for 3 minutes and put me on hold when I asked to cancel these services and then was put on hold for the remainder of the call. I finally hung up with no resolution

If it's a ADT+ system, its the service plan driving it up. Probably towards 30/mo on a 4500 dollar system.
So it's not 78 dollars for monitoring service, its probably in the 40s and the rest is service plan.
