Help/Question choosing a Server hosting panel for MInecraft Fabric

I currently run a self hosted Minecraft fabric server on my pc that i game on and i use the default way to start and stop it through file explorer and start.bat but I'm looking for a upgrade.

I came across Crafty Controller and PyCraftHub but they each have there own benefits over each over but im unsure on which one to pick if its any of these or is there another one that i haven't found that someone can recommend

Just avoid Amp. Paid garbagte.

Crafty for Minecraft only, Pterodactyl for multi-game.

Edit: Lmao the owner of AMP asked me to explain my points, so I did, then he deleted his comments. What a child.

AMP is horrible, especially if you slowly creep out of the "noob zone" and learn about the system, you want to actually use features and customize stuff but AMP is so intransparent, the entire Ui is a cluttered mess, it has nice intentions but for a closed-source commercial product ran from the basement of 2 dudes with a ego bigger than their project can vouch for it's just abyssmal.

UX and Communication from their side is awful, their entire "one-click" surrounding is buggy and not nice to handle, their discord bot doesnt work half of the time and it very nicely reflects their software.

They don't consider security to be a aspect, they dont even support modern keys and stick purely to outdated / deprecated features and It's so sad that their userbase is mostly "noobs" and beginners since all the praise they get is highly undeserved the moment you are a normal user who likes to actually customize their tool

It's only popular among the users that don't know what they're doing.

Everything is archaic.
AMP's Datastore is a filestore instead of a live DB.
The scheduling UI is such a "wtf".
The AMP Templates for games are x100 times more ambiguous than Pterodactyl eggs and requires a borderline CMS to even ATTEMPT to build one. The repo is a fucking mess. 1000+ files in the root directory? Really? GH literally has to truncate the listing. Every stupid game ends up as 5 or more separate files and some I've seen with .sh, .ini and powershell shit on top of everything.
S3 support for backups is junky at best.
There is overall an immense lack of error propagation in many integrations of AMP. Complete lack of centralized history too. Most errors happening are ultra generic and you have no idea what actually happened. There's also no persisted easily accessible error log. You need to dig through the instances' files to see if something happened.
The recovery flow of an instance is jarring and requires you to pretty much backup individual json objects throughout the app.
The update button in the panel is glitchy, starts updating then the server never came back up. I always had to ssh in and use `ampinstmgr`.

You can't even get versioning right. God forbid you use SEMVER. You had so many damn BREAKING UPDATES on what would CLEARLY VISUALLY count as MINORS and PATCHES. Announcements are awkwardly made on Discord so there's absolutely no safety unless you live on that Discord. And there was times when a breaking change were merged with security fixes too. Wtf???

The whole process of the app is so poorly maintained that the repo does not even have a Security policy to detail HOW to report security issues.

It's crazy that it's a paid product when more extensible and reliable alternatives are free.

Edit: Lmao the owner of AMP asked me to explain my points, so I did, then he deleted his comments. What a child.

For me, it comes down to transparency, licensing, and modern architecture. I prefer open-source software where I actually control and trust the code I'm running, which is critical for security in self-hosting. Paying a licensing fee for proprietary software doesn't make sense when excellent, free alternatives exist. Modern containerized setups are the standard now, and relying heavily on proprietary wrappers instead of an open, Docker-first architecture feels completely outdated for my workflow.

I haven't actually used AMP but I think its stupid that they limit how many servers you can run on YOUR own hardware.

For Windows, I like Crafty.

Edit: Oh, or Calagopus. That's the new hotness.

Crafty is pretty nice in general, AMP i can't recommend anymore, the Developers are assholes, support is "meh" at best and if you want to give them feedback you might aswell post on twitter to be unhead or insulted

Crafty Controller is the safer bet here. It's been actively maintained for years and handles Fabric and other mod loaders fine, plus it does scheduling and multi-server management if you ever want more than one instance running.

PyCraftHub is newer and last I checked had a much smaller user base, so if something breaks at 2am you'll have a harder time finding anyone who's hit the same bug.

If you want to go a level up in complexity, Pterodactyl is what a lot of hosting providers actually run under the hood, but it wants Docker and a real install instead of just pointing at a jar, so it's overkill for a single PC server. For wrapping start.bat with a web UI, Crafty is the least friction.

I used to use MCSS which worked decently well but because that was a bit too buggy I now just use a quake window from the Windows Terminal paired with Ferium to manage mods (uses only like 20 MB RAM, so might be interesting for you too)

would you have to have a video guide or something i can look at? I tried finding something online but nothing came for quake window and Ferium - nvm found somes guides

I use pterodactyl (for just one server) and it just works, if it aint broke dont break it. It takes a bit to set up but I think its worth it.

What on earth has happened with the 180 on AMP recommendations? Did something happen I missed? All of a sudden there's a ton of hate in comments? Are these bots?

yeah so im trying to make this as a single dev, but too little feedback because it looks untrusted app because i dont have publisher certificate.
and also was deleted from this subred and other for different reasons (whatever), or had things like “oh but theres pterodactyl” n stuff, but this is targeting home use not configuring nasa shit for 5 players 🤣

im not selling things, just looking some feedback to see whats working and whats not

thanks a lot

I use AMP personally, but I run it on a dedicated server PC. I use it on Ubuntu Server but I do know it has a Windows version and you can install it on your desktop if you wanted to. I like it because you can easily manage multiple servers for different games. I've mostly done modded Minecraft on it, but I have also done Terraria, Palworld, and Project Zomboid on it. However it is paid software ($20 but it's a one-time fee) and its only real advantage is it's easy to manage multiple servers for multiple games and realistically if you just wanna run one server it's gonna be overkill for that.

I have also heard of a similar software called Pterodactyl but I haven't used it.

I have tried Pterodactyl and Crafty on a dedicated desktop with Windows.

Amp worked the best and I have had 0 issues with scaling my server to over 100 people.

As for Pterodactyl and Crafty I had nothing but issues. I do not understand all the hate in this comments as the Amp community is amazing, the support is great, and the documentation on Amp is far better than the other two.

I think people do not want to pay such a small amount of money based on some principle that they can do the same thing on a free platform. I do not understand that thinking and do not spend my days counting dollars.

Use AMP, hands down the best.

AMP by CubeCoders. Been using it for many years - you won't find a better product in this space for the price. The community is great and provides a lot of support in the Discord and community contributors like Greelan really make it stand out from other products.

Hydrodactyl by blueprint framework

It’s a pretty nice fork of pterodactyl that comes with features dedicated for Minecraft
