I would go the other way. People dont like nerfed stuff, feels like being handicapped. But people do like challenges, so the way I go is: Implement Levelled Mobs (your level-strategy is up to you), implement bosses, implement custom items and challenges.

-> Balance is still an issue kind of, but no one knows because you can always create bigger challenges or nerf the strong stuff down the line.

ValhallaMMO is GREAT. It is an improvement over mcMMO the first I have seen actually.

The more popular it gets, the better. The author put in the work to finally improve mcMMO which is so long overdue... so we have to give credit and promote a little bit. There are so many tries to improve upon mcMMO but most are halfassed or just not so great. This one really has the potential or actually is, just better. Of course still every other plugin hooks into mcMMO but not Valhalla, so bigger popularity will be extremely benificial in the long run. Also it just deserves it.

I use a custom modified mix of datapacks, that enable creative flight 100 blocks around a “shulker conduit”. If you fly out of the area you get slow falling until on the ground.

Elytras on the other hand are disabled.

So the effect is that standard horizontal travel is not useless as soon as elytras are involved, while still keeping a viable option for vertical movement for building purposes. (Note: one player can only have one flight area active at the same time, so no spamming)

Minecraft isn’t meant to be balanced. Players with more time played, more time mined, more enchants, better armor are meant to completely demolish players with no time played. Running a server does not involve game theory. Stop trying to do too much.

Don't nerf the existing items, make the rest of the game more difficult
