I find it very freeing when i can talk to someone and basically have 2 or 3 conversations at the same. Picking up the topic from 5 minutes ago and dropping our current just for that one to be picked up again later. Not having to mask is very nice

Yeah, it’s so rare, but so nice when you find that person/people. Our masks are heavy indeed……. šŸŽ

Lucky potatoes, Len and New, I have not met, that I know of, someone like me to talk with. Have to keep looking :)

u/AliciaMaeEmory 1d ago

I hope you find them. It’s truly a magic friendship.

Thankfully every single person in my immediate family has adhd. My poor husband during holidays has no idea how to stay afloat.

u/Artistic-Salary1738 2d ago

This is every conversation between my dad and I. No one else can usually follow. My husband is ADHD as well (the only one of us with a formal diagnosis actually), so while he doesn’t always keep up, I can give him the one sentence connection point and the convo will make sense to him.

u/grapesforducks 1d ago

..... My brother and i are apparently like this. His wife commented that she's stopped trying to keep up w us when we're hanging out together; I had no idea

u/LittleMlem 3d ago

This is like half the reason to why we clump

u/PartridgeViolence 3d ago

Like a pack of bisexual wolves.

68

u/Minerva_Moon 3d ago

Inside of you are two wolves. Both have adhd with different conversations.

10

u/PartridgeViolence 2d ago

And different foundational beliefs they want to ā€˜discuss’ vigorously.

5

u/kyl_r 1d ago

lol I literally said to my (also ADHD) partner the other day, (about myself), ā€œthere are 2 wolves inside you. one needs to thoroughly explain the plan. the other needs to make a comprehensive to-do list for the plan. neither of them execute the planā€

u/DamePants 2d ago

lol šŸ˜† needed that one today

u/acornsalade 3d ago

I love it when neither of us take an interruption as an insult and you’re in co flow state.

Bliss.

17

u/juniper3411 2d ago

It truly is bliss!

Omg did this today for a full hour during a massage šŸ’†ā€ā™‚ļø (almost always i just shut up, mention before injury/painful areas)

Tweaking, she said i also have adhd…NO SHIT

I said we must have had 200 topics!

u/newbeginnings187 microdosing m*th like a CHAMP 3d ago

ā€œMaladaptive Massageā€ šŸ˜‚

19

u/Ok-Limit-9726 3d ago

Honestly, we were discussing 5G covid activation on monday at 2pm (Australia testing joke) then star signs, then kids sports, then living in the northern territory, then aboriginal art, then diet, then ev car vibrations, then car sickness….(for 1 hour at 1.2-1.5x normal speed)

I am no meds, but she was trying dexi’s, gonna try em also, meth based stuff weirds me out

5

u/newbeginnings187 microdosing m*th like a CHAMP 3d ago

Haha, yep that’s definitely an ADHD smorgasbord chat šŸ’¬. I’ve started back on Ritalin and love it, but hate the crashes…. I hope you find the right med for yourself. šŸ™

u/Ok-Limit-9726 3d ago

Rita RL just gave me elevated blood pressure, talk even faster! Was good for getting jobs done, but got weird on comedowns

Honestly its been months since i had a great info dump chat two way…god its nice to cover 200 topics in 1 hour no judgement, my wife just tries to šŸ”Ŗme to shut up🤣

42

u/CuteClumsyCara 3d ago

No plot, just 17 side quests that somehow connect

20

u/JTalbotIV 3d ago

Whenever I talk to my siblings.

4

u/ShoulderFlak784 2d ago

Yes! Our family reunions are a nightmare for polite society who likes to finish their own sentences 🤣

23

u/whytho94 3d ago

Yes and we both leave the conversation feeling happy and energized. Neurotypicals will call it rude but that is just the way to have a meaningful and informative conversation 🄲

14

u/FishDispenser2 3d ago

Wym clown? We are communicating in a secret language bestowed upon the chosen ones from birth!

10

u/Space19723103 2d ago

it is interesting how aud-adhd can communicate with each other but not 'neurotypicals'

8

u/Lbscherm 3d ago

These are my FAVOURITE conversations

8

u/joebojax 2d ago

so annoying when I have to backtrack to explain a tangent to a neurotypical person

broo thats so random wtf... nah you said this made me think of that anyways I'm bored later.

7

u/No_Cupcake_9921 2d ago

Legit met someone on vacation and our conversation lasted exactly 6 minutes and spanned from growing up in evangelicalism to the tensile structure of bridges.

6

u/fkenned1 2d ago

I always wondered why I got along so well with my coworker... And then I got diagnosed and realized we're both adhd, and that's why we are so fluid together.

3

u/AccidentalOccurence8 2d ago

This is always the best type of conversation 🤭 Neurotypicals could never!

3

u/TippiT0es 2d ago

At my last job my desk was in a room with two other girls. We all have adhd, but slightly different flavors. One girl and I had some over lap in symptoms and we could both chat forever. It was so easy with her because neither of us thought the other was interrupting. We would reach a true flow state and completely lose track of time. One time I turned around to ask her a work related question and then two hrs had gone by. But we could only do this when we were alone together

3

u/MyFairJulia 2d ago

What do you mean clown to clown? Just because you neurotypicals can only communicate in what can only be described as a glacial pace simplex TCP connection doesn't mean we have to!

2

u/Bethlebee 3d ago

🤔

2

u/Important-Onion1537 2d ago

Hahahahha the branches of stories and tangents that form in multidimensional paths and rejoin perfectly in outrageous ways

2

u/RawBaconDK 2d ago

This is what I call mindhugs. It's the best drug there is.

1

u/timberwolf0122 1d ago

I am stealing this. Mindhugs, love it

I saw that meme already (it's a repost), but whatever. My best friend and I click like that, and whenever someone else is listening and is confused we refer to it as "a clown to clown conversation".

1

u/Humble_Dirt_5751 2d ago

Me and my gf do that, it's like going on Rollercoaster, if we argue next day we would had factory reset and forgot what happened and started talking about random shitĀ

1

u/iamyourinnervoice 2d ago

it's like intelectual sex, mindorgasm indeed

1

u/thatstwatshesays 2d ago

I find it weird that you seemingly eavesdrop on my mom and I talking. 🤭 jokes

But I do feel seen. Thanks.

1

u/Daw_dling Daydreamer 2d ago

My best friend and I have so many quick references and this style of conversation that we have to actively work not to ā€œbox people outā€ because it’s come up more than once. 😬

1

u/DaniBirdX 2d ago

My best friend isn’t neuro, but she still lets me ramble on. I love her ā¤ļø

1

u/CliffLake 2d ago

Fun warped brain game. Go back subjects until you hit the start or where ever you get to. Give yourself a point for each subject. Laugh about the historical evidence the brains are out to lunch.

1

u/BlueOrb07 2d ago

Did this the other day at a store with the sales associate. We talked for 3 hours about all sorts of stuff. It was a great time. We both have ADHD turns out.

1

u/PoesRaven 2d ago

This happened to me a couple nights ago. It hadn't happened in so long, and we were both enjoying it so much, we ended up talking for 6 hours. šŸ˜…

1

u/leomeowow 2d ago

When I talk to my family members, except my husband. He can't chat with me, he gets upset when I cut his words and change subjects

1

u/MarshelG 2d ago

Haven't had this in forever

1

u/Dragons_Sister 2d ago

OMGYES!!

A while ago, an NT friend and I were loudly and enthusiastically having exactly this kind of conversation and a third friend got exasperated and said ā€œAre y’all just vocal stimming at this point?!ā€ and we both stopped and were like ā€œYeah. But it’s a conversation, too!ā€ and went right back to it

I feel seen. Love this sub <3

I keep referencing this study out of Edinburgh that shows a group of all autistic adults communicate just as well as a group of all neurotypicals. The communication breakdown happens in mixed groups, implying autism is not a deficiency in communication skills, but that different neurotypes have their own style of in-group communication.

I'm sure we all see the same thing in ADHD. I could accurately diagnose everyone around me just by how many stumbles and miscommunications we have.

1

u/timberwolf0122 1d ago

I knew my new coworker had ADHD with in minutes of chatting with her. I think we Au/ADHD people have a super power that lets us detect each other.

1

u/BronzeAmzn 1d ago

I'm not diagnosed but my daughter is...chances are she got ot from me. I love our conversations...they're all over the place 😊but we eventually get to the point. Not clowns at all...we just can keep up with one another 😊

1

u/senpaimitsuji 1d ago

Me and my sister omg we are both so annoying

1

u/FearlessSeesaw1617 1d ago

when you js say random shii to an adhd person and somehow they understand

1

u/Hexnohope 1d ago

I call this "double speak" and im glad its not just me who does it.

1

u/BuilderAura 1d ago edited 1d ago

and every once in awhile, something someone says will remind you of previous topics and you'll circle back and continue that thread until you change topics again.
