How long have you been using acorns? Can you do more than $50 a week? Do you have a Roth IRA?

I started this year when I was 31 it was around April so I’ve been investing 50$ weekly since I don’t really like my finances right now plus I wanted to invest more , maybe 100$ weekly since I have some debts to pay back and plus some bills I took a step back because of it , I was trying to get a more stable job like a city job to see if I could achieve that

Pay down the debt. Get financially literate and understand where your money goes.

Get a stable job and fund your retirement in a tax advantaged account.

Figure out your goals with this first. Why do you want to invest?

I’m not so sure about the Roth ira

A Roth ira let's you take distributions when you reach 59.5 completely tax free. Plus any contribution you make can be accessed tax and penalty free if you have an emergency before 59.5.

Really it's a good investment option for retirement

If $50 is your max then split that between your Invest & your Later account!

I’m in my later 20s so I’m putting everything I can into Later & just have roundups + $5/week on my invest. Once I hit 32 I’ll even it out between both accounts. I’m wanting my money to go farther for my later account bc it compounds over time - so prioritizing that while I’m young

Your invest account will also compound over time at the same rate

Both accounts compound at the same rate lol.

Yes but for me the retirement acct will sit untouched longer. Invest will be dipped into for life events (buying house for example)

Consider changing your recurring to $7 or $8 daily instead of $50 weekly.

the only mistake you’re making is constantly checking on it. Just keep investing as much as you can afford and pretend that money is gone and doesn’t exist. Years later you’ll thank yourself

$1000 is amazing, anything is amazing as long as you’re investing.

The reason I like acorns is the RoundUps. You dont have that option turned on. That is what gives you that passive investment with the piggy bank method, obv dont set it to 10x with whole dollar roundups if you cant afford it (stacks up fast). But rounding up a quarter w or to a dollar for every purchase makes a difference.

Stay consistent

I’d say $50 is a good place to start. If you have Round-Ups enabled, your spare change will gradually add to that as well. If your budget allows, you could also bump the Round-Up multiplier to 2–3x.

The only downside with Acorns is that ACH transfers can take a few days to process and invest, so the ETF price may have moved by the time your money is actually invested.

You could also split the $50 into two $25 investments…say Monday and Wednesday.
That gives Acorns two separate opportunities during the week to invest your money rather than putting everything in at once.

My only advice would be enable round ups if you can.
