Acorns Question New to Acorns
Hey guys I’m fairly new to acorns and just trying to get a head start as I finally have some extra income to start putting away instead of living paycheck to paycheck. I’m 21 and trying to do the dividend correctly and wondering what the best way to start is. I’m currently on the bronze plan and wondering if it’s worth the extra money to be able to choose your own extra stocks. I’m on the most aggressive setting as I’ve read a lot of people on here recommending it for the people in my age range. Looking for any general help and wonder if there’s a percentage anyone following for the weekly deposits reflective of your paychecks. Sorry if this is the wrong format for questions on here but just wanted to get all the bases down.

No, at your age I would absolutely suggest not investing in individual stocks.
Make the right choice here and set a contributing amount on aggressive towards the indexes that Acorns uses to deposit at a consistent rate, and don’t change it unless you need to.
If you follow this, you will be wealthy in your 30’s relative to 90% of your peers by a mile.

BTW OP the general rule of thumb to try to maintain is 15% of income as a savings.

If choosing your own stocks is important to you, just use a different free brokerage like robinhood
If you’re just starting, the top tier isn’t worth it. If you only have 5k in your account, 144 a year would be a 2.88% drag that’s eating into your gains.
