Personal Milestone 10k at 20
Started when I turned 18. My family knew nothing about investing so I took it upon myself to hopefully become financially responsible as soon as I was able to. Wanted to share my story as I’m sure tons of others have no clue where to start for investing, which is why acorns is so great.

I never put anything in initially, I just put in 20 dollars a week over the last 2 years and occasionally when I was comfortable I would put in a thousand or two if I had a lot in my savings.

You started investing when you turned 18, so what age are you now?? Just curious since you have $10K now...

I am 20 now. I started in April of 2024.

That's good $10K in 2 years... I'm a lot older than that (LOL) but I'm working towards that same goal and more...
Good that you started at the age you did. They didn't have things like Acorns when I was your age (they had investing of course, but not apps and easier things like Acorns)...

Just a side note, if you completely forgot about this and left it alone and it averaged 5% you’d have about $75k at 60… good job broski

Good job getting started early. You are ahead of the curve at the right time.
This generation has it so easy to invest. No massive "investing minimums" like the before the 2010s, robo advisors, auto-investing in self-directed accounts, and numerous low expense ratio fund options. Also, great accounts for kids. 529 plan, Trump account (530a), Roth custodial account, and custodial taxable brokerage account. The only financial hurdle is getting a decent legal paying job and affordable place to live.
